HI THERE!!! I AM 68 AND ITS HARD TO FIND ANY LITTLE JULIAN SONGS OUT THERE' THANK YOU. DO YOU KNOW THE SONG HE DID CALLED IM IN A BLUE MOOD? OR BLUE MOOD? MY FAVORITE. THANKS SO MUCH
I don't believe Johnny Otis changed Ron Gregory's name to Julian Herrera. I think Ron took on the family name of the Mexican-American family that took him in.
Little Julian Herrera was not Hispanic & Herrera not his real name. Famous white bandleader Johnny Otis changed his name from some Hungarian or Czech name-which was his true heritage.
That would've been a Different BackUp Group , I-guess. the Label says "Little Julian Herrara + the Tigers" ... Frank Zappa said that That was One of the Things that impressed-Him about Ray Collins' Musical Resume.
Do you have more info such as the label, name of your group and how did this all come to be? Would really be interested in knowing. Thanks for the small tidbits of information.
I have been contacted by some music historians regarding that question since We 'The Illusions' were one of the last groups to back him up on this recording. No one seems to know where he went to. Thanks for watching the video. Take care..bolsaman00

I'm not sure. We backed Herrera up on this recording in 1963.

And by the way... The band was cookin on this one. I can tell The Illusions were a little subdued on this track but it was perfect for this style.

GREAT STUFF. I wish he could have had a strong vocal group behind him on this one. Still a great song!
