Too bad you aren't an engineer at GM so you can "off the cuff" tell them what fools they are for using thin material. Problem is, you have no idea what the hell your talking about. Calling the Z06 frame a Space-frame is like calling a brick a living organism. It's so incredibly wrong I'm embarrassed for the National Geographic channel.

@StuRaz ....a space frame is commonly used in vehicle construction when you attach all the drivetrain, suspension and operating components directly to it. In other words, the body panels provide no structure, just appearance. That's the difference between a unibody car and a space frame car. A tube chassis built car is considered a space frame.

The Z06 frame has nothing in common with a space-frame. There's no reason to brag about it anyway, a true SF is very outdated and actually quite heavy by modern standards.

@StuRaz Well, how about this...I'm the chief designer and operating officer of a company that builds cars using a space frame and will give you my direct contact information at our company. The Z06 is a space frame...like it or not. The body panels in a Corvette provide no structural support whatsoever...and it's still a CAR. Monocoque incorporates body panels into the structure contributing to rigidity, space frame does not. You want a pic of our cars we build or my personal Z06. Your wrong

@RC000E No, you're bullshitting and overestimating your authority. The Corvette's ladder frame contradicts everything that makes a true space frame by the laws of reason and physics. BUT, if you want to say that then by logic alone then a wheelbarrow, tralier, caravan and train carriage also uses a spaceframe.
