Make sure and add perlite to the miracle grow garden soil. It doesn't contain that, and plants, especially tomatoes need the lighter soil which the perlite helps with.

Have you kept the nutrients up? And made sure the soil didn't harden too much so the roots could grow?

I have some cherry tomatos growing in such pots so it works, but you have to water them more frrequently.
