I also winced every time he let the advance lever go. The lens being left pointed up unprotected while he handled the body and baseplate over it, didn't help my heart any either...
WOW!!!what a relic...I'm sure this cameras hold a very special personal sentiment for you.that is a dream camera.collectors dream.....I though i ask where are your hand gloves at???ha...ha...ha...mhhh m3 Henri Cartier bresson.Capa,newton.wow....
The only suggestion on your video is how you handle the film advance. You shouldn't let the film wind spring back into position by flicking the winder through fast. You risk putting dents into your speed dial or scratching up the top plate. You should leave your thumb there after you wind to catch the lever coming back or just wind it slowly. You have a beautiful camera there. Thanks
You're camera's just a gem. Your father is/was a real Leica expert. To de-chrome and electroplate with gold is not the easiest thing to do. I don't even think most States will let you use some of the toxic chemicals required to do this anymore. And even if he started with all brass parts, this is still some serious work. You have a lovely camera. If you need the cash, go on Ebay. I'd surely bid. Otherwise, I would past these cameras on to the next generation. Just lovely. Good luck.
How to make a leica look like trash.
Just gold plate it.

My father was Leica Camera repairman and gold plated many. I have a dozen or more various Leica models.
