  • Beautiful work. I wonder if the sun could be used as source of heat with Fresnel lenses for really free energy.

  • Beautiful engine. I wish to have such skill in building mechanic. Spent whole my life on electronic...

  • Barumman, would the power increase if say the top heat tubes were exposed

too heat source just under it's melt point - and the coolent jacket cooled by

    liquid nitrogen?

  • Hi just wondering if you are selling something like this at preasent? If so how could I get intouch with you?

  • @ckrisk Sorry I have nothing for sale, thanks for the interest.

  • I guess the top is the burner around the heater head, right?

  • I did not find this engine interesting!

I found it to be absolutely entralling!

  • It purrs nicely :)

  • how much torque does it deliver?

  • A very beautiful machine, fascinating. I wonder how you dimensioned the heat exchanger tubes. Did you calculate the number and diameter? Which must be very difficult because of the reciprocating nature of the proces and the pressure variations. Or did you use some kind of measurement?

  • @HansRNL63

Hi, All guess work, nothing clever I'm afraid.

  • Can you be more specific about where the parts came from and how to build one?

  • @Harrier1970

Hi, All the parts were made by me with the exception of the radiator and generator

The building process is rather complicated for me to explain.

    Best wishes, Cyril

  • This is very nice. Great work. Now what have you done with it.

  • @graff41

Hi, I have put it to one side for the time being until I

    get some more inspiration. :)

  • This looks considerably better than the very expensive engines nasa use :)

  • What is the thin belt running from the generator spindle?

  • @timerider4 Coolant pump drive.

  • What is behind the white partition?

  • @kulwick

    Litter !

  • @barumman

At first I thought a hose from what looks like a small propane tank connected to your unit ran behind the white panel. But now I see it loops back and does not go behind the panel.

  • Amazing ! really amazing, what a good mechanic you are ..

  • Absolutely marvellous! I would love to have an engine like this and provide it with heat from a solar source... Very interesting :)

  • Por favor hacer una version de todo el proyecto en castellano, gracias!!!

  • @Mafaruck Sorry I can not oblige. :)

  • Ferdinand....At the end of the video he states that the engine was not running at full heat or pressure....The engine has a lot more gusto...he probably doesn't want to blast it out and risk another catastrophic failure.....for a second time. I would be wary also.

  • Hell yes! Barumman is definately the best. If I had that set up and knowledge I would be tinkering and fabricating all hours....forever. Post more videos Barumman. We're starving here.... : )

  • What a brute of a machine. A liquid cooled propane fired work of art.

  • how many watts does it outputs?

  • @bazengao Hi , Watch the rest of the videos and you will find out. :)

  • @barumman sorry i posted this comment before the video ended! but nice engine!!

  • if I wanted you to make me one with out the cooling systen 5 times larger what would you charge me

  • @jhunted7667 Sorry not interested :)

  • if we took my cooling system and your motor we would have an egine with twice the power

  • sounds beastly for only running on air

  • i think it sounds awesome

  • The fun is in the making of it :)

  • One of the advantages cited for the Stirling engine is "quiet running." All the models demonstrated on YouTube are very noisy! What's going on?

  • Probably bad workmanship on my part, Sorry

  • @barumman : How dare you criticise yourself - the engine looks beautifully made! I suppose one should compare this noise level with an internal combustion engine, with its barking exhaust drowning out the mechanical noise, which thus goes unnoticed. Keep up the good work.

  • good one mate , whats the temp differential hot end to cold??

  • The generator is a Zerox motor from an old photocopier

  • To be honest I do not know,

I run it with the tubes just below red heat.

  • If you compare this to other kinds of engines, though, it seems pretty quiet to me.

For instance, compare to a combustion engine! (Though, a Ringbom does have that tapping sound, that seems kinda noisy...)

  • what are you using for a generator?

  • what is the small tube on the side for? not the collant tube, the metal one that connects the upper to the lower

  • Not just interesting, it was facinating!

Thanks for sharing your fine workmanship, and design.

    Gill

  • Beautiful!!!

  • Very, very nice!

  • It almost sounds like a Harley. :D

  • the noise that makes is awesome

  • well done! sir

  • Nice engine, but t think it is so noise. I think a stirling alpha is more powerful than the beta.

  • Very nice. I tried a few times to build one but couldn't get it right.

  • how much amps dose it put out? in 12v

  • See part five. :)

  • Wow, i really like it! Go ahead like this. Best wishes from Germany

  • Very nice, Sir.

  • Amazing!!! We need more people like you!!!

  • the most useful stirling engine ive seen on the web ever!absolutely brilliant.

  • could u tell me what rpm it is without laod??

  • See part 4 amended version

  • I don't count the hours because when i'm in the workshop time goes like lightning,

    Less than 500 I should think. :)

  • Just curious...got an estimate of the number of hours you have into this? Is it under 10,000? :)

  • I want it! Very nicely made :)

  • the most interesting i have heaver see on weeb

avec un echangeur à plaques, superbe

    quelle réalisation

    bravo

    best regards

  • Very nice engine you have there.

Would be interesting if you could get some torque figures on it.

  • very good work!

what is your job? you work with plan or not??

  • Thanks, TV Engineer, No drawings

  • TV Engineer?? I'm a radio engineer myself... I also don't have an awesome stirling engine. I guess I went into the wrong side of broadcast!

  • I'm just completing my 50 years of chasing

electrons! soon to become a full time stirling engineer(amatuer)

  • Wow. This is a really impressive engine. Very nice machining. What was the power input to the engine? Do you know what the overall efficiency was?

  • I have no idea as to it's efficiency,

    VERRRRRRRRY LOW, I expect

  • That's a really nice piece of kit!

Is the bit in the middle being driven off the thin belt on the main shaft a coolant pump?

What temperatures does the coolant run to?

Looking forward to your future productions,

    Ralph.

  • What is the second small black rubber pulley driving? One pulley is driving the water pump, and from there another one runs down the cooler? What does this do?

  • Oops, it runs from the generator down to the lower right. Best seen at at 1:10 in the video.

    Richard

  • The small belt running from the generator pulley is driving a tangental fan which cools the radiator.

  • Oh yes! Congratulations!

Looks very good, and smooth too!

It makes more noise than I had expected though...

There are some very nice brushless DC motors for RC models on the market now. They are very efficient and not expensive. I recommend that for a generator. They need to run high RPM though, 10.000 is common. The outrunners are best suited I guess.

Good luck in further development! Hope you keep posting! :)

    Richard

  • Thanks Richard

  • Wonderful, absolutely wonderful. I'd say you are getting more than 25 watts electric out of that generator...those lights are really bright! I'm sure like anyone else here I'd love to see an accurate figure on the total output of this engine. Simply incredible. You have some skills sir! Skills that I want! You have inspired me yet again!

  • Outstanding! Be sure and let us know what your efficiency measures turn out to be.

  • Very nice setup. Very impressive. Judging by previous comments, everyone has been waiting for this!!

    Thanks for posting.

  • Great job. It truly makes some sound. Actually more than I expected, but there is real load to this one, which is never seen on model-engines.

Is this one inspired by the Phillips MP1002CA?

Thank You for uploading these great videos.

  • The noise of the engine is a lot due to it being attached to a hollow aluminum base and also standing on a wooden bench.

I used ball bearings throughout,(20 in all) which tend to be noisier than plain bearings and then of course there are the gears which are continuously being driven then driving, spiral gears would have been nicer but I didn't have any to suit.I have a Philips 1002c

    Will show it sometime. Cheers
