i have been trying to get a hold of one of these aftermarket steam wands. i've heard hkcoffee is the place to get it yet its not on the website and the guy i emailed told me to come in the store in china...
Getting a thermometer will probably be helpful for a short while. They're cheap. Once you learn the sound that's made when you get to 145-160º you won't need the t-meter to tell you that anymore. 'Too hot to hold' is different for different people.
The 4020 has a froth 'enhancer' that is supposed to make frothing easier. It's similar to the air injector on other Krups machines. I had better luck taking it off..as the OP did. My 942 had NO trouble making capp froth. Good Luck!
@canyncarvr thanks, I actually did buy a thermometer and its actually way hotter than the too hot to hold method, may I ask how you altered the frother attachment and with what parts, I notice since its detachable that lots of steam escapes there so I want to prevent that by altering it like the one in this vid.
I first thought I'd try to put an older (like the 942) attachment on. Had no luck with that. I settled for simply taking the air induction junk off and using what was left. I didn't add a different tip as the OP uses on his machine. The 4020 didn't last long enough to fuss with it much. After fixing several leaking messes..it was gone. Your question I think was meant for the OP of this vid. Good luck with it!
It's amusing to read the smart-alec comments from folks that obviously don't know diddle. 'obviously didn't steam that well...' '..steamed it wayy to long... (uh..the double vowel doesn't fit in 'wayy'...and you left it oFF 'to', idjit).
He's using a Krups xp4020!! How many 'commenters' have any clue what that is?
That he gets ANY foam out of it at ALL is only because he modified the wand.
Considering what he's working with, he did a very good job!
@canyncarvr no kidding, this is the machine i use and its hard as hell to get results like that, well built machine and hopefully I can make it as well as this guy. nyone know whether its good to invest in a thermometer to drop into the frothing cup or just use your sense of touch (once it gets too hot to hold)
@nlowers due to the design of the machine, in the video although near a minute but the temperature of the milk never over 65-70c.My Expobar Brewtus 2 cant froth like that long

Nice vid. I have the same machine, but only with the standard steam wand. How do you made the brass-colored steam wand? Do you made it by yourself? Do you have an instruction?
I can do better than that
