  • @GriffinMcNally - yes that's from warping. There were leaks in the ceiling. Geez, I skated there every weekend for at least 11 years. I took my now 14 year old niece when she was about 5 & taught her.

  • My heart hurts a little - thanks for the great video. I can smell the fresh polyurethane on the hard wood floors.

  • I only went here a few times but it's so sad to see this icon of Bay Shore gone. My parents moved to Bay Shore in Oct. of 1963 and I graduated from BS High in 1970. It's had its ups-N-downs, but it's still a great town. I love it!!! I feel so blessed to have lived in Bay Shore. I go back as often as possible. Thank God I'm still living in Suffolk County.

  • Very sad, A bygone era I guess.

  • whats with the floor? I dont recall it being curved up like that....Perhaps its warping fropm water?

  • Great job capturing it before it was demolished. I still carry many scars from years of floorburn. Lots of great high school memories.

  • what is the address for this place?

  • Wow i remember going there when i was like 4 and i had so much fun. ive never seen the inside since it was abondend. now i live like 4 blocks away from it on chicago ave.

islip needs a place for bikers and skaters to go. someone should buy it and reopen it.

  • @Durdeeh I grew up on Oregon ave. I remember it all! The birthday party room, the square pizza, the drink machines. I have so many great memories and good times there as a kid. I was at a bunch of birthday parties there. It was a Bay Shore landmark, it was a disgrace to leave it sit there abonded for a decade. And a real eye sore. Broke my heart.

  • My sister and I always went on the weekends in fact they had skating lessons there for kids and thats where she learned to skate.

  • YEAH my children was there when they were younger, now its all gone,, memories is all we have now

  • Wow, I am an old skater from here in the UK and it breaks my heart to see a beautiful rink in such a state. It must really break yours.

  • @scoochysteve yeah it does big time. I always looked forward to going there on a Saturday night.

  • Someone should buy that place and reopen it!

  • @Lostsouls55 I was saying that a few days before they tore it down to my mom and bro. My bro and I were thinking about buying it and reopening it. But unfortunately someone did buy it.... they put a LUCILLE ROBERTS there.

  • looked sick, rip ;<

  • wow what a good skatepark this would make i wish i went there when it was good

  • i remember this place, i was rly young but i skated their like 3 times.

  • My God it looks like a war zone inside.

  • Wow I sure remember this place. I remember the square processed pizza and those drink machines that shot the grape and punch drink to the top of a clear container continually. I remember the benches, red and yellow, at least the yellow is in my mind now. I remember my early era had a person on the organ. I remember the feeling of taking off the skates and how weird it was to walk after skating all night. As teens my friends and I skated at Studio109 in North Babylon if I recall correctly.

  • Yeah I remember that like it was yesterday. And those awesome square pizzas! And the guy playing the organ! Good times! Thanks for you comments!

  • @Cooleemee43 Thanks for helping me recall those memories.I feel like it was yesterday.

  • It is sad, this place was huge!

  • SOOOOOOOOOOO sad this place got knocked down..it was the best place. i had several birthday parties there. I cant believe the rink itself started to rise like that...wow...

I wish it was still around, and i always wanted to go in the abandoned rink too. Thanks for these pics:)

  • did u skate there when it was abandon?

  • Does anyone remember the birthday party room in the back?

  • RIP :'(

  • hopefully there will be another abandoned building around LI to bike and skate in

  • RIP

  • That is i put them together as a tribute to a place that meant alot to me and my friends. I wish who ever took them would give me their names so I could give them the credit they deserve. I also wish someone could send me pictures of the place in its hayday

  • yeah it was a place i would go and hang out on a friday night. I had many good times there. And you are welcome for the pictures. I did not take any of them. ijust compiled

  • Damn thanks for this video. They actually just knocked this place down a week ago or so. Thank you for all the pics; I've always wanted to go inside there since it got closed. I remember every friday I would go skating in there.

  • why did it close down?

  • I heard they could no longer afford the taxes which over 50 thousand a year and the popularity skating was not there so less people were coming . So they sold it to Jenny Creig. But they couldn't break ground dew to the fact the property was zoned for a roller rink so the rink was sitting there rotting for about 10 years until they rezoned it. It has been torn down.
