LOL funny guy. I've opened various pcs without antistatic stuff including laptops and they never broke. My 386 dx4 was opened several times and it still works after 20 years.

In sum, static electricity doesn't fuck up your pc as much as you think. Neither do magnets fuck up disks easily (unless you have a huge magnet stuck in your disk drive)

I found the issues, there was a faulty cable. But now more problems, I get a Warning message saying my "ATI control panel has failed to initialize."

I looked in my display settings and it does not show any ATI drivers I have installed or what kind of video chip set it is.

I took pictures of the warning message and display info if you'd like me to link them for you.

I'm stumped.

Hello, I purchased a new mobo and screen for my VGN-S170. When powering up the HD kicks on but the screen is blank and the video chip's fan does not turn on. How can I get my laptop running?

laptops HDD's produce much MUCH les heat then a normal HDD, so placeing it over the bridges is not a problem at all infact most laptops have it over the bridges due to the fact that it will just work

In 1,6 GHZ Intel Laptop is the fan directly on the CPU. No Heatsinks or so. You can look through the fan on the CPU. LOL

I rarely use the ESD devices. Just touch a grounded metal object first, such as the computer case under the desk. Then try not to shift around too much in that vinyl chair with the heavy wool sweater on... When somebody hands you a ram chip be sure to grab their hand first, stuff like that even a wrist strap won't help you with.
