We shouldn't do this to animals. But, the kittens being examined as fine was proof that the girl knew what she was doing, but it's still not nice to take God's creatures and place our fashions on them. I'm sure those sweet kittens would reject the gothic kitten look if they had human reasoning and communication. I think the girl should be forced to discontinue this odd and inhumane art and not be punished. Too my knowledge there hasn't been any law on piercing pets.

Piercing a dog is iffy, but a cat? Other complications aside, kittens get under and through everything. A piercing would easily get snagged on something.

Cropping, for one, is usually done by professionals--while I don't agree with it myself, it won't cause permanent damage to the animal. Piercing, however, if done by an amateur, can cause an infection. The rings could also VERY easily get caught on something and rip off. In short: YES, this is 100% abuse and the person is a fucking idiot for doing that to her kittens.

Again, politics gone mad...If they are going to prosecute this woman for piercing the ears of a cat, then they need to prosecute every person with a dog who has cropped ears or a stubbed tail. How stupid!

Cropping and docking is accepted as it has reasoning towards the dog's work. Schnauzers for instance were ratters, short eats kept them from being bitten by rats. Standard breed cuts also had meaning once. Now most dogs get it for looks, but more dog clubs allowed uncropped and undocked dogs. But this was JUST for looks.
