the only thing that is hard for me to give up is kale. i love it. so in moderation. if i were to be taking myself off of synthroid i wouldn't eat it. it is really rough i know. i got off of synthroid with the help of a doctor. i get regular blood tests every 6-8 months. i recommend the same. for me avoiding stress is more important than avoiding kale.
Hi Dara, I know you suffered from hypothyroidism once, so I was wondering what you think about these foods that decrease thyroid production: KALE SPINACH, CABBAGE, BROCCOLI, MUSTARD GREENS. i know you are cautious about giving medical advice (i'm a nurse), but I would really like to be "cured" from hypothroid symptoms. if i dont take synthroid, the symptoms are felt almost immediately. do you think the benefits of these foods outweigh the warning?
Great receipe good to see u back.Actually EVCO. dosen,t make u gain weight it I use it in everything great source of energy esp when working out use .I use it as a substitute for olive oil
Thank you Dara!!! at last someone posted some raw recipes that wont make you loose like a tone of weight. Not everyone gets on the raw roods just to get skinny! I just wanna get healthy! Thank you again Dara!! You're amazing!!! <3
@MickScarborough I used to do it this way - just take them out about 20 to 30 minutes before you want to use them. The skins will come off more easily.
@MissRawSweden I eat like a horse:-D. I think I eat quite a lot of fat each day 1-2 avocados 2 tablespoons coconut nut oil, approximately 100-200 grams of nuts and seeds a day. Should I eat more? I'm not underweight, but I'd like to go up a few pounds. Have a great day. hugs
I love seeing this recipe! My main attraction to this diet is losing weight, and for a long time coconut oil alone has been helping me, so I'm pretty sure it doesn't work the same as other oils. I learned about it from "Underground Wellness".
Btw, have you been watching Jamie Oliver? Do you live in LA? Can you please complain about the school system not letting him review school lunches? Thank you!
Dara! It's so good to have you back! I missed you!..hope u had a great time with family & friends in NYC. I'm on a pretty strick detox right now lots of things I cant eat for a while & gotta lay low for a bit..you just brighten my day :) Love ya!
Protein adulteration in the People's Republic of China refers to the adulteration and contamination of several food and feed ingredients with inexpensive melamine and other compounds such as cyanuric acid, ammeline and ammelide. These adulterants can be used to inflate the apparent protein content of products, so that inexpensive ingredients can pass for more expensive, concentrated proteins. - it's been found in vegetable proteins here in the USA
@MonkeyArtful, "May 2, 2007 FDA Announces Detention of all Vegetable Protein Shipments from China for Animal or Human Food Use The Food and Drug Administration (FDA)"
Before you take any protein or similar supplement, call the manufacturer like SunWarrior and ask them where they get the protein. If they won't share that with you, I would not put it in my body. As I said, most of it comes from China. It goes through two or three American companies before it gets a USA label on it, but find out where it was manufactured, not where it was distributed from.
One more point about "protein powders" and other supplements. I can't speak for SunWarrior but most of these supplement companies don't make anything themselves. They buy their ingredients from wholesale distributors and these companies often buy in bulk from China and I promise you that you don't want to be taking anything from China. They adulterate the proteins with a highly toxic chemical called "melamine" which destroys kidneys. Google "melamine protein" and learn about it.
@thewaterfalloflove thank you so much! I personally take quite some hemp seeds and chia seeds or so when I need protein and some spirulina and amazingly it feeds me for many hours of hard work. But I'm grateful to get your info. Thanks :)
Anyone that "bodybuilds" and is taking any kind of protein powder on a daily basis needs to get a CBC (complete blood count) blood test done. I finally did and found my protein and my creatinine was high which indicated a strain on the kidneys. I cut out the protein and tested again weeks later and was fine.
I'm anti-supplements for the most part, but I did them for years. Just be smart. Stay natural and don't fall into even the raw food supplement hype.
I'm starting a list of all the recipes I will make during the 11 week Raw Food Initiative with you and Penni. Can't wait to start. My hubby is going to follow along. Thanks! Stacey
I had a kale smoothie today too..just finished it. YUM! :) Mine was kale, the juice of two oranges, one lemon, and 1 cucumber, 1T chia seeds, 1 cup mango chunks frozen. I like the way the kale tastes in my smoothie. :)))
I have not had a green smoothie in a while. I recall I was skeptical about green smoothies, but they really do taste good! Thanks for this vid Dara! It makes me want to get back on the morning green smoothies!
Instead of adding the spirulina, can we substitute that for something like E3Live? I just ran out of spirulina around my house but this looks awesome :)
i am so going to try this dara thanks for sharing
