However, despite the pleasing alliteration, it takes two to tango and therefore the machine needs to be present in the dance. I think the Tank Man is a very stupid fella. He is trying to defy the Army which has a bigger responsibility then democratic slogans. We are talking about the fate of a nation, peace and prosperity for the people. Not a few traitors and misguided individuals.

China is saved from what? I'm very grateful that I live in a country where our government doesn't use tanks to run over peaceful protesters, and I have some ways of expressing disagreement with government policy.

I dread the day that the Chinese think Australians need "saving".

Re East Timor, I'm also ashamed that those people who so faithfully supported Australia during World War II against the invading Japanese were abandoned for so many years to the intimidation and abuse meted out to them by Indonesia.
