  • Its harder to do slow than it is to do it fast, when showing someone how :o)

  • @haveudonethis Very true. Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • Thank you for doing this correctly, another guy did it backward, counter clockwise, which is a sure fire way to grab the wrong end and pull it through the middle and end up with nothing but knots.

  • When you say "over" you sound like Dr.Evil.

  • I can probably over-under faster than i can elbow wrap. Thats how much practice I have

  • @randomisoty422 After you get it it is way faster.

  • @thepauldj it really is.

  • Great Video!!! I use this way to wrap my cables too. We also do this at the CBS TV station that I work at in VA. If we don't over and under, our expensive cables will go bad real fast.

  • @deejaybustab VA? I play in Arlington at Continental Pool Lounge. Stop out sometime and I will buy you a drink.

  • Thanks man.

  • are you a wizard ?

  • @TrollogyExpert Not at all. lo. Thanks. I just do it for a living. I like to work smart not hard. Every little thing helps.

  • @thepauldj I could challenge you that im faster, but thet would be immature. and your a DJ, a TV crew works with the most cable, which is what i do.

  • @artichoke811 Well yes I am a DJ. You must not have watched the whole video. I also work for one of the biggest video companies in Baltimore. And I work for the stagehand union in Baltimore. I do it all man. And I DJ. And have a ok name doing that too. Don't hate. No need for that. I am just letting people know the right way. Do the same. A challenge. lol. Yes. Immature.

  • Nice video! Thanks! Added to my Favs! ;)

  • @chilloeh Thanks.

  • I have 50 foot XLR Mic and speaker cables that I dreaded having to wrap up at the end of gigs. Your over under method WORKS GREAT! I can now wrap & throw these cables and NO KNOTS! Thanks for taking the time and putting this together and sharing.

  • @ErikSaturn Glad I could help you out.

  • Thanks...I have a few of the "coiled" cables, now I know why. After watching you do he over and under it seems so logical & natural.

  • Good tip man!

  • Great video! And I realy llike it when you want to throw the cable all the way down to the speaker and say, "you always want to keep the female near ya". LOL!

  • Thanks for the vid. I agree for XLR or other quality cables on the over under but for extnesion cords I don't think its necessary. I also agree you can throw but if they are wrapped correctly you can unloop as fast as you can walk and I'm not throwing my good cables. Glad someone is showing the correct way.

  • @lesterskinner Thanks for watch.

  • haha thanks for the video. someone taught me this when I first started DJing when I was 16 and I feel like wayy too few people know the correct way to do it

  • GREAT!!! Thanks. I need to practice!

  • U R my new guru.

  • @landline00 lol

  • very clear. thanks. =)

  • @Crazee108 Very welcome. Thanks for watching.

  • Very much appreciated. Thanks.

  • Ive seen a guy who can do it faster almost like when you wind a spool of but he said the trick is not to let go of the cable

  • thx

  • word, dude, thanks. i went into the garage and started rewrapping 'nuff cable, lol

  • @jonmmadison lol. Welcome man.

  • Thank u very much for this lesson. You explained very clear & in details.:)

  • @ok250682 Thanks a lot. Glad I could help.

  • Holy crap, I've been doing it wrong for 20 years. DOH!

  • @jjulch lol. No big deal. Just better this way.

  • 6:55 dog.... lmao..

  • That's nice. The only thing is, so many of you guys are wrapping the coil too small, which also bends the cable more than it should be.

  • thanks this will help a lot

  • Love this video - You're so correct. Thanks for schooling all your fellow cable wrappers. lol ~Now22207 (TV Production Student)

  • @now22207 Thanks so much. It gets lots of views from students. I learned this in audio engineering school. I just kind of picked it up. Plus I am a little OCD when it comes to cables. Not sure why. lol. Glad I could help and that you liked it. Share it please.

  • Well done bro! It's that simple stuff that can make, or break you on the road. Two thumbs up.

  • @GrubSlayer Yes sir. Thanks for watching. I work for the local 19 stagehand union here in Baltimore. I have to know how to do this or I will get in trouble. You don't want to piss off a road guy. lol.

  • Thanks for demonstration

  • @aubrey9511 You are welcome. Thanks for watching. Check out some more of my videos when you get a chance.

  • I've always been concerned about breaking my cables but never looked into finding out if there was a proper way to wrap them up.... THANKS!!!!!

    .

    Keep them videos coming!

    .

    .

  • @tonyspinningg Thanks again for watching. Got more videos coming. Been slacking on them.

  • Man, you actually made this entertaining! I learned this from my cousin, who is a professional musician in San Diego, but until you know how to do this, it's an impossible task. You did a great job starting with the yellow cable. The tip regarding keeping your cable ends on their respective side, and the cable throw was awesome. Prrrrr rrrr rrrr rrrowwww, all the way down to the door!

  • @14Guitars Thanks. Glad you liked it. I do AV work for a living. I saw a guy wrapping cables the wrong way so I had to make this video. Plus not many videos on this subject.

  • I have a couple of fat extension cables that I've done over the elbow, but they're not wrapped frequently. So none of the wacky bends, thankfully.

But yeah, over-under is excellent for everything, thanks for the good demonstration!

  • Another thumbs up.

  • @mc85eu Thanks so much.

  • Great explanation! I had that Knot thing going on, couldn't figure out what the @##$%$ I did wrong, thanks for clearing that up!

  • @ASVmeRC30 Glad I could help out. Watch more of my videos please.

  • Best video for over under wrapping. Thanks man.

  • @skullosordie Word. Thats whats up. Thanks a lot.

  • *Thumbs up*

  • Thank you! Your video is the 100th I watch and finally I got it! :)

  • @meiaxx Wow really. Awesome. Glad I could help.

  • Thanks!

  • Is it safe to throw an XLR cable though?

  • @DjRyBiz It won't hurt it really.

  • Thanks for the useful video amongst so much crap on youtube.

On a totally irellevant note, I love your tshirt!

  • @Doddus Thanks a lot. Glad you liked it. I gotta get on making new ones. Got that shirt a Target. Wish they still had it. I want another one. It is getting small.

  • yay thank you man i have a quiz tommorw doing this exact thing :) and i couldnt get it but you made it so clear :)

  • @otepf Glad I could help. What kind of quiz? You going to school for audio?

  • @thepauldj

It was was a microphone theory practical skills Quiz.. i uh go to FullSailUniversity here in Winter park, Florida.. im doing a bachelors degree in Show Production. They teach over and over and over and under so yea this was very helpful :)

  • @otepf Thats cool. I went to a school out my way called Sheffield. I have a bunch of friends that went to your school. Heard nothing but good stuff about that place. When do you graduate?

  • Watching this how-to video is inspiring! I will definitely use these techniques.

  • @BadfingerFan Thanks for watching. I had to learn how to do so for the jobs that I work. Most DJs don't know these things, and spend lots of money on cables. No matter how good a system you have, if you have bad cables you are done.

  • I've been wrapping my cables incorrectly for far too long! Thanks :-)

  • @bherila You are welcome.

  • thx for the vid!

  • @SNBOmaha No prob

  • it drives me NUTS when i see people wrapping their cables wrong. ive done it right like this for years, but i dont have ties at the end i need a way to keep them from knotting when i let it loose.

  • @Tranqx It just use black tie line for most of mine. It is cheaper and lasts longer then velcro ties.

  • @ampedconfusion Thanks. It took me a while to get it too.

  • thanks bro!!! This is why I love You Tube!!!

  • @gilboogie Word. I am the same way. I watch more youtube then tv nowadays.

  • Ok I admit it, I admit it, I've been wrapping cables ghetto for way too long.. I will need to remember to do this more! :)

  • @djphunknasty Lol. I am mad anal about it. But I do it for my job too. So it makes my life easier. The one guy I work for. Not so much. I am always rewrapping his cables for him. I don't mind really.

  • Awesome, thanks!

  • @pullablank Welcome.

  • very useful vid. thanks

  • No knots, no Knots. Hilarious!!!!

  • @greeneye410 Word. Are you putting those two videos I sent audio for on here? I want to see them both.

  • THIS IS AWESOME

  • @jamalfleming1 Well thanks.

  • helpful, thanks!

  • @sirocket96 You are welcome.

  • good shit man, makes sense to as it seems that it naturally wants to wrap that way.

  • @youngn420 Very true. Forgot to say that.
