I was involved in filming the show for use in publicity. It was filmed from several angles and a DVD was discussed. However, I was lead to believe that for Equity and Copyright reasons a DVD could never be made. Someone somewhere will have fantastic quality footage from the show, sadly not me. The only footage I have was filmed from the aerial gantry.
ok, one thing. gabriel is totally wrong about that rap track. it only butchers the feel of the rest of the album. does he really think we need the story explained by a couple generic rappers? do we seem to stupid to not be able to figure it out for ourselves? maybe he's accustomed to making music for dumb people...
So... now that we know that there is no video DVD of OVO, how can we ask Peter Gabriel to edit a video of it?, how can we suggest this? it was such a great work and, to me, it's a shame that there is no DVD...
I went to see in at the Dome, yes it was good. I enjoyed the ropes and the ribbons...then I remembered some moods and some voices, a few words....and promptly forgot it. I brought the album...played it all afternoon once...and then left it to gather dust. Move on....
Even though 'Ovo' seems a bit daft this is a wonderful mixture, especially Paul Buchanan and Liz Fraser.
Also Richie Havens' voice is chilling but warm at the same time. Gabriel's voice has slowly moved closer to his over the years and sounds all the better for it, an album of each performing the other's material would be amazing: Gabriel doing 'Tinsel Town In The Rain' or Buchanan doing 'Here Comes The Flood' or Havens singing something by The Cocteau Twins! If only.
No, I've looked for it, but I don't think a full recording was ever produced. How can anyone listen to Liz Fraser's vocals at the beginning of this clip and not be moved - this demands a release on its own.
