  • i love his guitar

  • Willie needs to relax more.

  • This is not singing. This is talking through a song. He is just getting to old. I have many of his songs but this video stinks.

  • you go to a Willie Nelson concert to hear his music. the singing on the other hand... still a great artist though

  • WILLIE IS GREAT NO QUESTION ABOUT IT. BUT I FOR ONE AM GETTING SICK AND TIRED OF THE LACK OF RESPECT FOR JERRY LEE LEWIS. HE'S A BETTER MUSICIAN SINGER AND ENTERTAINER THAN WILLIE NELSON. IT'S NOT JUST AMERICANS THAT DON'T GIVE HIM THE PROPER RESPECT. PEOPLE LIKE MICK JAGGER DAVID BOWIE JOHN LENNON WHO IS MY MAIN MAN BY THE WAY. NEVER MENTION HIM AS ANY KIND OF MENTOR.

  • @marlonmillburn67 Besides ignoring the brilliant song writer that Willie is, two things undermine your argument: using all-caps like a retarded chimp and having a Julio Iglesias playlist.

  • Waylon said in an interview that Willie sing in 4/4 and 1/8 time. lol. I love how Willie tags notes at the end the bar. He has forgot more about music than most musicians know.

  • Legend, pure and simple. Luv U Willie

  • You should all check out JOHN HOLT.... for the proper version of this. Willie Nelson is a legend but so is JOHN HOLT

  • I CAME FROM AN ELVIS VERSION AND ENDED UP WITH THIS TALKING VERSION

  • The best version I´ve ever listened to. WONDERLFUL WILLIE, YOU´RE A MAGICIAN.

    LOTS OF HUGS.

  • That's lewis black in the balcony.

  • Too wonderful !!!!!

  • thanks for the song Kris you were and still are one of the highwaymen well sung willie rip J C AND W J

  • His timing is just perfect. Whitout absolut comfidence you can´t perform like that.

  • oh, such a bad interpretation of a beautiful song and text.... hate him for that; - my God - he is awful -

  • I'm loving listening your songs thank to my Maestro :))

  • He's always half a note ahead of, or behind the music with his singing. I've tried to do it, and decided it can't be learned. Just gotta have it or do without.

  • I believe this song was originally written and preformed by Kris.

  • No, no, no, reading version almost, band sounds OK!

  • ...sickly beautiful....

  • he is great

  • He sped up the song so much because he was running out of breath, Willie, I love you to death, but get a freaking oxygen tank!!!

  • Willlie can park his boots under my bed any day<3

  • he did not used to to this off time stuff,,, i dont like it myself,,the style i mean not willie,,

  • nice gitters all around

  • Slow down Willie!!!!!!

  • Willies The Man~!~!~

  • Oooh this is gorgeous Willie, Help me make it, your style of singing and guitar is spectacular. Thanks for posting.

    Muriel xxx

  • It may be very artful, but I still like the perfectly timed sammi smith version.

  • Willies guitar reminds me of my socks and underwear, it's old, it has holes, but i still wear it.

  • fav part starts at 2:00... that solo is awesome!

  • Lord God. How n the World can he be a singer. And be famous he can't sing at all if it's that easy to be a famous singer than I would be a Superstar. He ain't even singing he's talking.

  • @MrRickycurry Well, that's Willie Nelson for you! I - and I'm sure many others - would sell my first-born to sing and play like that. His songwriting doesn't even enter into it - legendary catalog.

  • God Bless You Willie

  • I love this song

  • 1:52 What the hell is that guy doing?

  • @ChicagoMBiker europeans

  • Bonsoir de Montréal Willie, portes toi bien ici on t'aimes et on gardes toujours une place pour toi dans notre coeur tu es le meilleur

  • paradiso??

  • Long Live Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson ...rip Waylon and Johnny!

  • Great video, and it loads fast! Is that Graham Nash back there? If it is, he looks quite grizzled!

  • Zelo lepo!!

  • Not, too many legends in their own time. He is one of them.

Never tire of the way he does things.

  • i can watch this video so many times.

  • thanks....i mean really, really thanks 4 da post. cant say enuff.

  • Actually, it could be argued that he has impeccable timing to be able to sing behind or in front of the beat as he does but still not break meter. Willie says he sings the way he does to better express his emotions and make the song his own. I used to think he had bad timing, too. But really it's just Willie being Willie.

  • I'd say it's Willie being Willie. He plays with good timing, and I think the band has their monitors turned off to his mic so they don't get distracted by him. Just playing the song like it should be.

The only one I've ever known that could "speak" a song well was George Burns.

  • @51362879 sorry George Burns is crap! not in the level of the like of Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash.

only one who could truly speak a song was frank Sinatra

  • @MartianSanta Could be, but if you're in the band you might have to cut his voice out of the monitors, because if you listen to him to lead the playing, you'll get thrown way off.

  • @MartianSanta Odd, he plays guitar timed with the band....

  • @JimCashFan I never could but a finger on why I found Willie's singing so beautiful to me, but you expressed why beautifully. Aaron Nevill said Willie's voice is one of those voices that is like an instrument. He was right, and so are you. Willie sings country/jazz.

  • @JimCashFan This delivery is also reminiscent of line singing, where a song leader sings the a line first, then the congregation (because it originated in churches) sings the line at the right time. Originally it was to teach new songs or remind people of the words when there was no hymnal. But as you see, singing the line out of time adds an entirely new layer of emotion musically. (Like the feeling is too intense to wait for the music to unfold). Long live Willie!

  • he does it on purpose. he likes to change things up. when i sing i actually try to mimic they way he does that. its kinda fun. and challenging.

  • Well, at least he doesn't rush the timing when he plays.

  • yea thats why hes the man. but i mean hes been playing guitar almost 70 years. that probably would have been more of an issue like 40 or 50 years ago. he has wrote over 2500 songs. his first one at the age of 7.

  • Bit of disrespect on here. The man is a legend, enough said

  • Oh... My... God!

  • you guys are way off willie nelson is the voice of motherfucking america! there isnt another artist whom embodies the spirit of loneliness and good ol' time fun that all americans feel. you can fit a willie song into just about any situation life throws your way, he'll help you make it through the night.......

  • i dont like this spoken word style

  • once, a few months ago, i was at my school after dark with my guitar playing a talent show.

a janitor asked if he could see my guitar, and I said sure, and he played this song.

and it was honestly the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.

it reminds me a lot of the performance.

  • The original is beautiful, thanks for Post

  • Whole show available????

  • Ja! Someone loves this tune and venue as much as i!!
