  • I know how the old hippie feels!

  • Just remember the vet may not always be right, but they gave you the right to express your opinion. I served in Nam, Panama Sa. , Korea, Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Just doing my job so you can talk the talk but did you walk the walk. I believe every man should serve his country at least 3 years. I'll stick to living on my houseboat in peace and that all I've ever wanted to do when I retired. Bless all of you. SSG Lance Walker

  • I was a hippie in the 60's... pretty liberal. But then I grew up and gained an education and went to work at a job I enjoyed.

  • Cool country music.

  • fuck yall retards

  • the old ways is good way to life if your getting olded in life

  • @wingman572 ......I agree with you absolutlely .,positively .

....I'm an old guy and I know .

....However may I advise ,best get off the beer .

....That stuff will really mess your mind .

  • I'm only 45, but still (in this day) an old Hippy ! Too young to have been there, but old enough to know. Gotta Love it.

  • We're a lot older than 35 these days, I can tell you. -:)

  • About the way I feel at times when the world spins too fast!

  • i am 70 yrs old. i lived this. i love these guys . they never recived the accolades they deserve.

  • @1949man ...."There " is not a particular location .

...."There" was wherever you were when you felt you were "There" .

  • Here, Here!

    Peace Up!

  • I ENJOY ALL HIS HIPPY SONGS,,I BEEN THERE AND DID THAT...YOU HAD TO BE TGERE......

  • great song from another old hippie

  • @19540071 ......I'm 74 ,I lived through the '60's ,but I was never "There"

....You got 8 thumb's up person's who can't figure you were only about 10 at the "Hippy" time .

....Some of the old Hippies are now the politician's who are sending kid's to war .

....I love the music ,and dance to it to keep flexable .

....Please don't tell your Grandkid's you were a Hippy .

  • @cuteoldguy

"the old Hippies are now the politicians" ... How foolish. The number of "hippies" (if any) that became politicians is too insignificant to matter.

To classify an entire group of people is what is known as prejudice. Try enjoying the music and refrain from becoming a social critic. What a sad way to look at the world by judging everyone that is in it. Usually the only one left after judging everyone else is your sad lonely self. Try joining the rest of the bozos on the bus.

  • @Thespadecaller A good many of the hippies DID join the system that they once fought against (businessmen, politicians, ect)!

  • @Thespadecaller actually there's a lot lol. I'm 16 and I know that. They're the loser politians, judges, etc.

  • @cuteoldguy "There" was the West Coast,I think.. Where are all the veterans at these days??Trying to save some money for the kids. A Midwesterner, always.

  • @1949man "there" was being HIGH

  • @cuteoldguy

fucking straight thumbs up to you, pal!

  • 20 people probably had rich political relatives who purchased college deferments for them to avoid the Vietnam war.

  • Well said The wise Tyronian. Iv Know quit a few Vets over my 45 years and seen the affects the war had on them.God Bless and thankyou to all Vets.Go the Hippys''

  • Very surprised to find my parrot Dory starring (four appearances) in this video. Can't include a URL but search "E.T. in My Home" to find the photo and info about the star of this video.

  • @msegerslakeland I'm going to search that ,but it's going to cost you like 11 1/2 minutes of your fame.

  • classic song

  • this song is about me i live the same life as the song says i relate to it 100 percent

  • He should hang on to the old!

  • Im 35 ,and it aint nowhere near being old, any teeny boppers watching this vid, being over 30 is not something bad,I feel better than I did at 15.I couldgo back in time 20 years and run circles around the teenage me.I could also kill the 15 year old me with one hand.I love my 80s music.aint never gonna even acknowledge 2000s anything

  • @BorderCityBandit I'm 48 and go back to the 70's. What great music. I would give anything to have been old enough to have went to Woodstock. Sure miss Janis, she took a piece of my heart for sure.

  • @TheJer1963 As the old saying goes--"The only 'Woodstock' I remember was on an M-14." 1969-Parris Island!!

  • So he grows a little garden in the back yard by the fence .. he's consuming what he's growing nowadays in self defense. Great Lyrics.

My Dad's a Vietnam Vet. I sure think those poor kids went through hell and our generation better kiss our asses lucky that it probably won't happen like that again.

  • @DeviantDaisy It is happening again or have you been oblivious to what has happened over the past 10 years?

  • Rent "The Big Lebowski". Jeff Bridges & John Goodman. Goodman's a proud vet from Nam. Jeff's "The Dude"...a hippie. What a pair they are. Funniest movie of all time for me. Watch the "F" bombs...it's a solid R rating for language....but used to perfection.

I love this song....first heard it in San Diego back in '85. I used to play it on my walkman while joggin' around Balboa Park. Was that 26 years ago man? WOW!

  • @SOULTRAINJAMES Hey man, I was in San Diego back in 85. In the Navy at the time. Lived at 25th and A Street. What a great city. I was on the USS Constellation CV-64

  • @TheJer1963 Are you a "SQUID" lol :-)

  • @semkobenko You got that right. LOL

  • Our troops came back in body bags. No PM or Chief of the general staff.

Christ dont the pollies suck. Now they are all ther to welcome them home in their

    flash coffins.

  • i want this sung at my funeral!

  • i will always be an old hippy, and now i'm in my 50's still listen to this music, you had to been there to understand

  • @19540071 what the fuck cant you understand, their are soldiers dying for you so that you have the right to protest, im australian, and i beat your brains in if i met you

  • @adflwf first off you dont know what the fuck your talkin about the soldiers that are dying these days aint for us and for freedom they are dying over the price of oil and all the stock market bullshit that bush started my dad was in nam hes almost 60 and drinks himself stupid every night he was 16 years old and watched kids as young as him get blown to pieces in a war that the usa had no right to be in in the first place and if you think you can beat my brains in ill give you my address punk

  • @tommyheaney1978 I am a Vietnam vet, my son is a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. When you say soldiers are dying over the price of oil it makes me see red. YOU my friend don't know what you are talking about . Were you in the military You don't sound like it. I honor your father if he indeed is a Vietnam vet, yet I do not believe any 16 year olds were there unless they were Vietnamese. Talk to your father. Maybe he will make you a little smarter. William T. Walker, SFC, USA, Retired

  • i was born in 69 and its my dad, i thought he was square but hes the greatest!

two tours in Vietnam but now i see myself just like him! thank you!

  • I've been listening to this song my whole life, but never realized it was about a 35 year old til now (age 33)... feels like i could relate to this dang song since I was 15 ...and now more than ever.

  • can anyone help me please..i heard a song by the bellamy brothers, dont know the title, the words start with people on the sidewalk pass by me two by two holding hands and laughing

  • Hey Lloyd, this is about U, huh. Graduated, drafted already, boot camp, Vietnam. ('cept you didn't smoke that much dope; hell I smoked more than you) Praise God you made it back though, brother. Love ya.

  • What happened to the ORIGINAL version of this song? It USED to go " But he's just too damn old". Every time I hear this song, they sing "too friggin' old" instead... and it's been that way for over 20 years.

  • @mjpk6269 You sure that you didnt hear a Live recording of the song from a show?

  • @deadclown001 Quite sure. I remember it being played on "American Country Countdown" when Bob Kingsley was doing the show years ago. Even WUSN in Chicago played it that way- at first.

  • I'm 54 years old and I love country for the most part but I also like classic rock-------n-roll

  • @plbosly Amen to that brothre!

  • Great song! Greetings from young hippie girl from San Francisco...

  • 15 people disliked the thumbs down button

  • Im 36, a farmer and I just found some grey. I love this song and its message. I think I will just hang on to the old and love my children

  • i would hang on to the old cause the new just sucks.

  • Whatever happened to this kind of country music?! The new stuff is just crap.

  • @cnlaw You couldn't be more right. The music sucks, and the videos are more explicit and immoral than the hip hop ones. No wonder our rural areas are populated by a bunch of white trash meth heads and whores with 20 children by 20 different men.

  • man can I relate The Bellamy Brothers stick up for us vets from all conflicts 38 paralell

  • God bless all you Vietnam Veterans out there.

It’s a very sad fact that we lose a few more of you with each passing year.

It’s a terrible shame that our country didn’t welcome you back as hero’s when the war was over. I salute you all for your courage and your personal sacrifices.

May all of our veterans deployed in the Middle East continue to fight bravely until the very last Taliban terrorist falls dead at their feet and may they be welcomed home as hero's.

  • damn good set up with good music...........keep it up.......and thank you

  • I commented on another song from yesteryear and the very kind and wonderful poster of that song sent me here. I was 11, living in Brooklyn, NY when the first Woodstock happened. I BEGGED my mom and dad to let me go. I was going to hitch there. What was I thinking? I remember those days fondly! Earthshoes (the REAL ones), incense, bell bottoms, patchouli (still wear it!), Nam, impeachments, etc..we lived thru it! I miss some of it. Like friends long gone....peace! Thanks for posting!

  • @kushii59 I was at the first Woodstock--it was an M-14 with a wooden stock at Parris Island in 1969..A super song..

  • One of my all time favorites. this is me to a tee. Just the modern version. Im 36 and went Woodstock in 1999. Not the same for sure, but I can relate. Modern life blows a goat

  • The great Bellamy Brothers are coming to Watseka Illinois at the watseka Theatre on Friday July 15, 2011.

  • that like me in the war t l c jonesboro. ark

  • me baby me

  • There's a lot of us old hippies around these days, grayer hair, bigger gut,but same attitude.

  • Great song, I remember when it first came out and now I'm an old hippie. I cut off all the hair and it just keeps coming back...LOL! A special thanks to my good friend Tuks for the share. Peace, Mark

  • Memories that can't be forgotten... great tune

life was more than war....... but this song brings back some sad memories but has no doubt caused me to grow up quicker and harder to remain sane.

  • Memories that can't be forgotten... great tune

  • MY FATHER AND 2 UNCLES ARE VIETNAM VETS I WASENT THERE HELL I WASENT EVEN BORN BUT ALL I GOT TO SAY IS WELCOME HOME SOLDIERS!!!!!!

  • @patrick2969 and GOD bless yall for goin. and i wont relax until the last mia comes home. until they ALL come home

  • @patrick2969 Amen to that. Pieces of crap back here spitting on them and calling them baby killers sickens me.

  • @utubecenseorstruth They should've been spitting on the punk ass politicians that sent those poor children over there in the first place.

  • @shroomraptor I may not support a war, but I will support the men and women who fight it.

I agree with you. I would love to see politicians having to fight these messes they cause.

  • @utubecenseorstruth Support those men and women by demanding they be sent home where they belong. Vietnam and the current war(s) were and are based on lies and deception, there is no doubt about that. Concerning the politicians, they don't fight these wars and neither do their children; I think they'd be more than willing to cease the conflict if they were thrust into the fight.

  • NAM WAS 1 OF THE BIGGEST MISTAKES THAT WAS EVER MADE. BLESS ALL WHO CAME BACK HERE AND ALL THAT WERE LEFT BEHIND

  • Who are the 13 queers that disliked this video?

  • this song is about willie nelson

  • @katelynblack101 are you serious, because if it is true, you should feel special

  • @princetonsocks yea, I'm serious :)) This is about him they were friends and he painted for them He died a couple years back

  • @princetonsocks yes I'm very serious. He painted thier tourbus and a mural for them somewhere. They were supposed to come and play this at his funeral but they were in Orlando at the time and couldnt make it up to Dade City in time...

  • Nixon has 12 accounts -.-

  • coul listen to these guys all day

  • GREAT SONG!! THANKYOU FOR SHARING IT

  • Luv it! I've always admired the Bellamy Bros. music, to say the least. The added imagery was awesome, including John Lennon. I loved the song...but with the images....the song evolved from love, to reverence of the highest order. God Bless our Vietnam vets and old hippies everywhere. Peace.

  • i'm started to feel like this song is about me and i'm only 33

  • They wrote this song just to tell the world who i am..

  • this is my ish, like 5 h's after s

  • Thinkin of you Maria!!!! Now shut up and kiss me!!!!

  • This is one of those songs that I've learned to appreciate more through the years (LOL)

  • I relate to this song far more than I like to admit.

  • i love dancing to this song!

  • My dad and step-dad did nam, you wouldnt want to piss them off, I have been to war myself, but nothing like nam and nothing like the spit in your face they got when they came home, you know, were losing 2 great generations at once, the ww2/korea guys and the ones from nam, hats off to those few damn good ones left!, from a disabled vet!

  • @compman770 amen brother!! My dad served in the navy , Korean war. had friends that served in nam, and they didnt get the welcome home thyt deserved, and the US govt isnt taking care of them these days at all. All the focus is on the Iraq vets and people just tend to forget. But one who never forgets is God the Father, He is our reward in Jesus name. God bless all vets!! My respect
