After almost five years my book is finally on Amazon. "Some Are Born to Endless Night: Jim Morrison, Visions of Apocalypse and Transcendence." It basically traces the decline and fall of the American Dream from the death of JFK to the present and as seen through the eyes of Jim Morrison. Chapter 9 is entitled "Blood in the Streets (The Great Fire of Los Angeles)" It is an account of LA in drought, riots and destruction as described by Morrisons unconscious vision taken from four songs.
FYI...Jim Morrison's dad was an admiral on an aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War, my friend in the Marines served under him. Everyone was banned from ever playing the Doors! They (father & son) were estranged~his dad disowned him & not sure they ever spoke again..Reading these lyrics made me think of this.

Turgid , bloated, pompous and droning - and that's just the start of the adjectives describing this creepy funeralesque tune. Definitely inspires indigestion if not clinical depression.

The Doors, Neil Young, Pink Floyd all just have a sound when any of their stuff happens to come on the radio..... It's like a mini Christmas, I mean radio doesn't play anything good, but then you get a lil taste of heaven!!!! They are so Unique & With Jim's voice & Neils, NOBODY can replicate their sounds... They are both different, with Jim's deep voice & Neils haunting voice.... Daaaamn!!! they're good

Jim was an icon,a favorite brother,to millions of rebelous teenagers in the late 60;s.That I can say as a fact.I was there,I bought the records.Jim and the doors merely recorded some songs.We the baby boom generation decided he was a force,and he lived and died as one.
