Yep, def looks like shit, guess it would be ok if it were possible to romove the frames and have the screens directly next to each other, but still a waste of time and coin
The idea behind the 24 screen Quake 3 video is the ability to actually be able to do it. It's a test to see if a computer can handle the amount of outputs.
@ndibarra That's not the point, you don't see the point of the vid you're replying to, you are the one who is the showoff - as shown by the comment I'm replying to just now.
@ndibarra Exactly, you're just a complaining imbecil who doesn't see the real point of the video you're replying to. How about you do your research instead of acting like a macho douche?
@dinmamma333k Lol that video is so old. Macho hardly research on what why? done wasting time on bad asses like you. It was a suggestion didn't have to take it...
It works like this: A 19" monitor has around 144x900 pixels for the most part. A 36" could have 1920x1080. If you have 24 19"monitors, that would be 17280x1800. Even though the textures probably wouldn't look any better, with a wider resolution you get more viewing pace to see in a wide area. With that wide of a resolution, you could practically see behind yourself without getting shot turning around to look for anyone. It may sound stupid, but you'll notice a better difference in more monitors.
I'm not sure you understand resolution, considering, if the monitors were all running at 800x600, you would have a resolution of 6400x1800... which is kinda cool...
really 4753 view lol funny

The question is not why. The question is why not. I can attest to reason why to do something like this. As seen below in that video.

I'd watch porn on it. One pornfilm in each monitor.

@devo85x
I agree. Not to mention "Some folks running Quake 3 on a 12 machine Linux cluster wint 24 monitors..." is f*@king leet
And: 10240x3072 is the resolution! out standing! Too bad the fps was only between 15-30
@ndibarra
To answer your question it was an experiment and demonstration of distributed rendering over a cluster ;)
eliphant0723 2 years ago
@eliphant0723 the resolution can be 100,000 by 100,000 and it still isn't going to look any better. The textures aren't that sharp.
