Rich continue to do the same things that made them rich and poor will continue to do the same things that make them poor. Goolsbee is so full of shit.
There we go--Chris Wallace trying to boil up some sort Fox Outrage--ignore what is being said, latch on to some minor statement and blow it up and keep pushing it until he sounds like a whiny bitch.
The rich don't pay taxes and the rich will never pay taxes because the rich make the policies. And as far as Chris Wallace is concerned, this is as good as he gets. His questions stupid, but he allowed the answers to be spoken without interuption.
I doubt that the administration is actually going to be able to generate the kind of revenue that they have in mind by taxing the rich. The rich always find ways to skate on their taxes. I agree with the principle here, but I doubt that the numbers will be what they are dreaming of.
When Kennedy was Prez he cut taxes across the board but got rid of much of the loopholes and allowances for the Rich... so they ended up paying more even though their Tax Ceiling was higher.
Maybe. But the Bush taxcut was obscene. Getting rid of it should bring in some cash so Obama can pay for universal health care.
And that is about that. Obama isn't really raising taxes, he is just not extending Bush's tax cuts. And they make it sound like men-in-black and Spanish Inquisitors will go to each rich person and make them give up all their cash (and at least one liver each) to the government.
After having seen how Obama managed to win the Democratic primaries and went on to beat McCain, I will not be surprised if he gets us out of the current economic mess and turns out to be the liberal version of Reagan. Indeed: This skinny guy with a funny name is up to (almost) everything. But I might be wrong...
gamoonbat: Very true, the rich can afford to hire the tax attorneys, CPAs and other advisers to find ways to avoid paying taxes but I think the main point is to give relief to the average working family, not really to look for money from the rich.
'Warren Buffett's own statement - he pays on average 17-18% in taxes, while his secretary - making $60K - pays 30%.
Obama's proposed marginal rate increase is from 36% to 39% on income in excess of $250K. Someone w/ a taxable income of $300K would pay an additional $1500 - and that's got Republican's panties all up in a bunch, while the wingnuts are claiming those affected will simply stop producing.
I hope they do - there are thousands of us waiting to take up any slack they give us.
I was watching this right after I woke up this morning, which was a mistake. The tone was very loud and abrasive, the voices were annoying, and saying some pretty stupid things.
When I switched to ABC's Panel, they talked much softer, and seemed so much more intelligent by contrast.
Cant we just nuke the entire Fox Network? Even the Local Fox stations are full of shit. Here in Phoenix, their default term for undocumented immigrants is "Illegals". Like we're in the old west or something.
the poor rich, lets all feel sorry for them. They should not ave to pay as much in taxes as everyone else, you know they, there rich and you know it was not for them the world would just fall apart.
Chris Wallace is a worm.

I think the statement might be referring to the greed of some of the wealthy; offshore accounts, bonuses for failure, etc.
