and oh ye, what kind of program do I need to open/read those amd verison. msi.com/product/mb/NF520T-C35.html#/?div=BIOS I downloaded down 7615v14. but cant run the .exe file it needs another program thanks
@Sazkuki There are instructions in the zip file you downloaded, you will need to create a bootable win98/WinME USB drive or floppy and run the update utility through that.
It can get fairly complicated, I would make a tutorial on how to do it but sadly I don't have any motherboards that flash using those kinds of utilities. :(
Do you know anything about windows experience index? , after I got the 1055 it dropped to 1,9 from 4,5 when I had the dual core. I am not sure whats the problem, I even overclocked it to 3,3ghz Yet it shows poor rating.
@Sazkuki Have you updated the BIOS? Generally when a CPU is unsupported by a motherboard it'll run at a much lower speed then normal for safety.
You may want to check your CPU clocks in CPU-Z. If they are at the right speeds while the system is under load you should not see any performance issues in games or applications.
Hmm , i already check with CPU-Z it runs like it should. and already updated bio to the newest. But I think the bio is the problem , when i use "Can you run it" on games, it says bios update or bio unknown :s even though I have update it to the highest. I thin I should just buy a new motherboard any time soon then.
@Sazkuki The Experience Index is really nothing to go by, as long as it performs better where it matters or the same in single-threaded loads it should be all good. :)
If however it is noticeably slower or you find no performance gains in highly threaded workloads (such as converting video etc..) then you should look into a new motherboard. :(
How do you know if the CPU is seated correctly if you can't apply force? About to receive my parts for a new build and I want to know how you would know this for sure before continuing on with the build...
@Sazkuki I honestly wouldn't know :( sorry. It "may" support overclocking but I don't know how well it'll handle it. I would just stick to stock clocks since it doesn't support the highest-end 6-core Phenom.
Probably because it can't power them sufficiently, overclocking might push your board over the edge.
@Sazkuki Did you update the BIOS like I suggested in one of my other comments? To do that you'll need to install the old CPU and download the BIOS from the manufacturers website (of the motherboard)
@sheek1982 You can, but if you choose to get a quad or hexacore you will have to stick to the Phenom II models, you will not be able to upgrade beyond the Phenom II models into Bulldozer territory.
The model features the M2N61-AX OEM motherboard made by ASUS and uses nVidia GeForce 6150 integrated graphics with the nForce 430i chipset, and has two PCI slots, one PCI-e X1 and one PCI-e X16 1.0a slot. thank you bro
first time builder here :P, i was wondering if my cpu cooler i am gettting will fit my case it says the heatsink's dimensions are 120 x 120 x 158mm and the case's dimensions are 15.88" x 7.13" x 16.13"
@XxSaintkillaxX Also can you make a video of you install an AMD cooler that needs brackets i dont know how to and coolermaster's videos SUCK!! That would be mighty helpful :D
first time builder, i just got a mobo that says it's am3+ compatible but may need bios update. will i even be able to start up bios and do the update with an am3+ cpu installed? or would i need an already compatible cpu just to get it started, and then switch to the new cpu? that'd be a pain, not to mention i don't have an am3 cpu sittin around
@shthouserat It depends on the motherboard. It may already have the BIOS installed as well, or may even have an option to flash the BIOS without a CPU installed (You'll want to check the manual for that one).
If you do require a compatible CPU first, buy a cheap AM3 CPU like a Sempron just for the flash or ask the store to perform the update for you.
@GuideToUsing yes definitely, i just went back and checked the site, manual and packaging, and it turns out this model has the am3+ bios already installed so we're good. thanks. and nice vid btw
@GuideToUsing this video helped me build my first PC. I don't know if you remember me, but I messaged you about the cooling fan being very hard to get on. I just want to say, thank you for this video :)
@TheOriginalRuskin I'm glad I could help! I do remember you, I remember about 6 months ago you also suggested that I place an annotation into the video which I did.
So I would also like to thank you for helping me to improve my video's. :)
@GuideToUsing But i've heard that you can just about fit an AM3+ into an AM3 socket providing that it has a high enough voltage output on the motherboard.
@fullbarrows8 No, it doesn't. I can see how people are getting confused.
I'll end it with this reply's information
AM3 is compatible with AM3+ Motherboards, but NOT the other way around.
HOWEVER, futureproofed boards with specific chipsets and sockets such as the AMD 760, 990, 890GX etc do support some AM3+ CPU's with a simple BIOS update.
Many MANY previous AM3 boards do not support AM3+ CPU's.
You MUST do your research before even considering an upgrade to AM3+.
@fullbarrows8 Not only that, but they are Pin-Incompatible with AM3 sockets. It won't physically fit at all. they will only work in the "BLACK" AM3 sockets (which are the futureproofed sockets).
@SlimChance718 AM3 Processor does fit the AM2 socket but the motherboard will require a BIOS update to work. Google "Socket AM2, AM2+, and AM3 compatibility matrix" and click on 10stripe dot com for complete information.
@SlimChance718 No, you don't have to spend $400, try the BIOS upgrade first. And in the remote case you should need a new motherboard, you already have the AM3 processor that fits a AM3 and AM3+ socket motherboard. If your present RAM is DDR2 you may need to buy DDR3 but nowadays you can get 8GBs for less than $50 bucks. If your power supply is a 24pin it should also fit an AM3/AM3+ motherboard. You only need to spend $400 if you want top end motherboard, processor, ram & PSU)
@SlimChance718 Hey, sorry for the delay. DDR2 is your RAM memory.. I meant the BIOS or Setup... the motherboard program you can access with DEL, F2, F10 (or whichever key) right after first moment you get an image when you turn the computer on. I said you needed to update the BIOS because that's what the webpage said, but I later found conflicting information saying that the AMD Zambezi, the only AM3+ Processor is made exclusively for the AM3+ socket and I suppose also works
@SlimChance718 also works only with DDR3 RAM. The Minimum and Recommended system requirements to play Heroes of Newerth, are found at: heroesofnewerth . com / specs _ pop . html (remove spaces). Hope this helps.
@SlimChance718 What make is your BIOS?... If it's one of the major brands, it should be upgradeable. Install Speccy to know the exact motherboard and BIOS make-model, type it on a search engine.. click on the motherboard make-model web page and click on downloads.. if a more recent BIOS is available for download, you have an upgradeable BIOS. In the remote case it should not be upgradeable, you'd only need a new motherboard and possibly ram if the mobo should use different ram.
u_u i got a new cpu (an amd fx), tomorrow im getting the motherboard and some cooler master thermal paste (already paid for that).
Now here is the thing, the stock heatsink comes with some thermal paste, should i keep that like your video say or should i use the cooler master one? if i use the cooler master paste, should i remove the one that comes with the heatsink? or just apply over it? u___u
@RaShadowYT I would install the CPU and use the thermal paste that is already applied to the cooler, it's already applied and it's perfectly good paste. :)
Save your cooler master thermal paste for when you next take off the cooler or replace the cooler. :)
Also, whenever deciding to use your own, always clean off the existing thermal paste from the cooler and CPU before placing the new compound on, they do not mix well. D:
I just finished installing all the hardware.. every little sound made me twitch.. it took me 5 tries to put the motherboard into the case without thinking I was destroying the thing.
@runesick Congrats on your build. :) And yes I was much the same on my first build. I was scared I was going to damage something every time something made a little noise.
i bought amd fx 4100 proccesor , and my last proccesor was amd phenom .. Will mad fx 4100 match the socket? :/// please answere , from a newbie ;) srry my bad english btw
Hey I just bought a phenom II X2 I still dont instal it for 2 reasons
1.- I have no RAM DDR3 like my MB needs (lol)
2.- it cames with the cooler, and it has the termical paste in there, but Im afraid, it doesnt covers all the body of the CPU (it just cover the center) is that ok? I guess it is but i need some answers if you can answer that Ill be happy, nice video
For number 1, you will need the correct RAM for your specific system to even work.
For number 2, a small amount of thermal paste is all that is needed, slowly slide the cooler with the paste on it around the CPU to spread it around the cooler and CPU surface.
@GuideToUsing Thanks, actually I did know about the RAM I was just freaking out because I didnt get is I just put the cooler on or try to put it on the surface of the CPU thanks that helped I just need the RAM now
So, I bought a different cooler to connect to my CPU. It's a Noctua NH-D14, and it came with a set of parts to connect to my Mainboard. Is the mainboard the orange square around your CPU? I have a Crosshair V and I'm trying to find whatever the heck I connect this beast of a cooler to. Haha :D
@StormHornet56 The orange square around the CPU is the cooler mount. To install that cooler on an AMD system, you'll need to use the AMD parts provided.
You will have to remove your cooler mount (the orange square in this video) to install it, make sure your computer is lying on it's back and not standing up or the backplate behind the motherboard will slide around when you take the screws out. You may even have to take the motherboard out. :(
@GuideToUsing I figured it out literally twenty seconds after I left the comment. Haha :D
Now I'm left with screwing in the motherboard with the screws that weren't sent to me and figuring out what to do with the hundred wires that Asus's instruction manual failed to mention.
Yeah the screws don't come with the Motherboard, they come with the case. :(
The wires? You don't need to use every cable that came with the motherboard, just what you need. But you DO need to plug in all of the power connectors in, and the motherboard headers right. Or it won't turn on. :p
@StormHornet56 It should simply fall into the socket if it is positioned correctly. If it sits on the socket without the pins going in then it isn't in properly.
@SoulReaper9999 Thats normal, it's the Cool'n'Quiet function making your CPU consume less power and make less heat. The CPI will clock up to 3.2GHz when it needs to.
I NEED HELP! I've placed the processor in the socket properly, and i found it hard to get the tabs on either side of the cooler to go into the studs on the board. I had to use some force to get it on, but now i am having trouble getting the lock to go in place. Is this normal?
Yes it is perfectly normal for there to be a lot of tension when trying to push down the lever.
Make sure the metal tabs are pushed as far in as possible and not just sitting on the edge of the orange tabs and push down the lever. It is normal for there to be a LOT of pressure needed to put it down.
I was scared when I did it for the first time too, I pushed much harder than I thought I needed to.
@GuideToUsing Ok. I forgot to mention that the metal bar that goes across the top of the heatsink below the fan, was moving in the direction that i was applying pressure. It was bending back the small fins underneath the fan.
@devhook23 Well something has to hold the tension and it places all of that on the fins and the orange bracket in this video.
It should be fine, a lot of people worry about the stresses their components must endure when first putting on a heat sink because it takes more effort than one would think to put one on.
@GuideToUsing Okay, I want to buy the amd phenom x2 560 BE , which has an AM3 socket, like my motherboard. But there is another problem. In such videos , i saw the cooler's connection (where it gets the energy)... and i think it doesnt fit on my motherboard. So,can i use the old cooler for the new one processor ?
@danielartemis It will fit, as long as you put it in right. For example, the cord may only have 3 pins but the motherboard (where you plug the cooler into) might have 4. It can only go in one way. :)
@danielartemis Really? Do you know the model of your motherboard so I can check for you? You can download a program called CPU-Z to check, it's in the "Mainboard" tab.
@GhOsTSaViiOr Ummm I'm not sure about that sorry, since motherboard manufacturers make them specifically for the board in most cases, I doubt a random one purchased would fit anyway.
@LeetZoneProductions No no no you don't need a rubber glove to install PC hardware :)
You just need to be careful, most problems with people installing PC hardware is when they bend a pin or damage the component through physical force.
The pins on an AMD CPU are so large that accidental contact with the pins with your fingers will not have any impact on the CPU's reliability or performance. The pins have a fairly large surface area.
@LeetZoneProductions It really depends, but 90% of the time accidental contact with the pins with your finger won't cause problems. I'm not saying you should hold it by the pins because you shouldn't. You should make sure the pins never contact anything other than the socket.
In saying that, and like I said before, accidental contact with pins normally won't result in abnormal behavior.
@Creationcreed since no one aswered yet, that's an am3. they made phenom IIs in am2+ and am3 if i'm not mistaken. heres the thing, it's 45 watts and the bus idk. that doesn't mean the board won't take anything better but if it's oem, you might be limited. your best bet is find out what the board is and shoot for that. amds cpus will downclock the bus if need be.the wattage is what you really need to watch.
i have a am3 motherboard and a single core proscessor can i just go out and lets say i get a quad core processor that says on my computers online website that it is supported. can i just switch them out and it will work
@YESIAMMCLOVIN69 As long as the website for your motherboard says it's supported and as long as you update the BIOS before installing the new CPU, it should work fine. :)
umm i'm pretty sure that i put the heat sync on the right way... but when i turned on the computer the fan DID spin... but the computer turned it's self off with in 5 seconds of turning it on
and oh ye, what kind of program do I need to open/read those amd verison. msi.com/product/mb/NF520T-C35.html#/?div=BIOS I downloaded down 7615v14. but cant run the .exe file it needs another program thanks

Kudan26 2 months ago
@Kudan26 Hi Kudan.
For number 1, you will need the correct RAM for your specific system to even work.
For number 2, a small amount of thermal paste is all that is needed, slowly slide the cooler with the paste on it around the CPU to spread it around the cooler and CPU surface.
I hope this helped. :)
GuideToUsing 2 months ago
@GuideToUsing Thanks, actually I did know about the RAM I was just freaking out because I didnt get is I just put the cooler on or try to put it on the surface of the CPU thanks that helped I just need the RAM now
Kudan26 2 months ago
Hello!
Haha :D
StormHornet56 2 months ago
@StormHornet56 The orange square around the CPU is the cooler mount. To install that cooler on an AMD system, you'll need to use the AMD parts provided.
You will have to remove your cooler mount (the orange square in this video) to install it, make sure your computer is lying on it's back and not standing up or the backplate behind the motherboard will slide around when you take the screws out. You may even have to take the motherboard out. :(
I would read the manual. :)
GuideToUsing 2 months ago
@GuideToUsing I figured it out literally twenty seconds after I left the comment. Haha :D
Now I'm left with screwing in the motherboard with the screws that weren't sent to me and figuring out what to do with the hundred wires that Asus's instruction manual failed to mention.
StormHornet56 2 months ago
@StormHornet56 Oh sweet haha. :D
Yeah the screws don't come with the Motherboard, they come with the case. :(
The wires? You don't need to use every cable that came with the motherboard, just what you need. But you DO need to plug in all of the power connectors in, and the motherboard headers right. Or it won't turn on. :p
GuideToUsing 2 months ago
@StormHornet56 It should simply fall into the socket if it is positioned correctly. If it sits on the socket without the pins going in then it isn't in properly.
GuideToUsing 2 days ago
@GuideToUsing Already built and tuned it. Battlefield 3 at 130 fps. I'm set for the next six years. lol

ronaldh33 2 months ago 6
@ronaldh33 Haha, yeah I thought the worst my first time.
Installing an Intel CPU is much scarier though, it actually bends part of the CPU permanently!
Last night I thought I cracked my motherboard while removing it. lol.

I just got a Phenom II x4 840 3.2GHz, installed it, but it is running at 803.x MHz and not the full 3.2 GHz. How can I fix this?
SoulReaper9999 4 months ago
@SoulReaper9999 On some motherboards the CPU clocks down when it is not in use. Play a game or convert a video and check the speeds again.
Otherwise in the BIOS disable Cool & Quiet.
Hope this helped!
GuideToUsing 4 months ago
@SoulReaper9999 Or update your BIOS :\
GuideToUsing 4 months ago
@SoulReaper9999 your windows power plans is on power saver.
kasumisman 3 months ago
@SoulReaper9999 Thats normal, it's the Cool'n'Quiet function making your CPU consume less power and make less heat. The CPI will clock up to 3.2GHz when it needs to.

please help.can i install AMD sempron on socket 939??
venick8827 4 months ago
@venick8827 I would not recommend upgrading on a socket so old, the parts may be very rare thus expensive.
I would at LEAST upgrade to a socket AM3 system, you can upgrade to one for as little as $120 if you only buy low-end components.
GuideToUsing 4 months ago
I NEED HELP! I've placed the processor in the socket properly, and i found it hard to get the tabs on either side of the cooler to go into the studs on the board. I had to use some force to get it on, but now i am having trouble getting the lock to go in place. Is this normal?
devhook23 4 months ago
@devhook23 Help has arrived! :)
It's normal buddy. ;)
GuideToUsing 4 months ago
@GuideToUsing Ok. I forgot to mention that the metal bar that goes across the top of the heatsink below the fan, was moving in the direction that i was applying pressure. It was bending back the small fins underneath the fan.
devhook23 4 months ago
@devhook23 Well something has to hold the tension and it places all of that on the fins and the orange bracket in this video.
It should be fine, a lot of people worry about the stresses their components must endure when first putting on a heat sink because it takes more effort than one would think to put one on.

@GuideToUsing Ok. I got it. Thanks for the help! :)

Do you have to install sth new When you buy a New Prozessor or is only the socket Type the Main Thing ? Help pls :)!
danielartemis 4 months ago
@danielartemis You only need to install the CPU and CPU Cooler. :)
Just make sure the processor you get is for the right socket.
GuideToUsing 4 months ago
@GuideToUsing Okay, I want to buy the amd phenom x2 560 BE , which has an AM3 socket, like my motherboard. But there is another problem. In such videos , i saw the cooler's connection (where it gets the energy)... and i think it doesnt fit on my motherboard. So,can i use the old cooler for the new one processor ?
:S
danielartemis 4 months ago
@danielartemis i mean, whether i have to use the cooler, which is in the box from the new processor :D
danielartemis 4 months ago
@danielartemis Nope you can use any cooler that has an AMD mount. :) But it MUST have the AMD mount on it.
GuideToUsing 4 months ago
@GuideToUsing now , ive got a amd dual core. on it, theres a cooler with a plus logo on it... can i use this. ?
You missunderstand me , the cooler self, would fit, but the cable from the cooler, this white one, wouldnt fit i think :S
danielartemis 4 months ago
@danielartemis It will fit, as long as you put it in right. For example, the cord may only have 3 pins but the motherboard (where you plug the cooler into) might have 4. It can only go in one way. :)
It will fit. :)
GuideToUsing 4 months ago
@GuideToUsing i meant, the cable from the cooler, needs a special socket, but i think ive got the wrong one !
danielartemis 4 months ago
@danielartemis Really? Do you know the model of your motherboard so I can check for you? You can download a program called CPU-Z to check, it's in the "Mainboard" tab.

GhOsTSaViiOr 4 months ago
@GhOsTSaViiOr Ummm I'm not sure about that sorry, since motherboard manufacturers make them specifically for the board in most cases, I doubt a random one purchased would fit anyway.
GuideToUsing 4 months ago
@GhOsTSaViiOr Its a standard AM3 cooler bracket, once you buy a motherboard that has a AM3 socket you already have the bracket included
merijnwitje 4 months ago
@GhOsTSaViiOr oh btw in case you have a intel motherboard right now, DONT BUY AMD! Cause it will be waste of money because you dont have AM3

LeetZoneProductions 5 months ago
@LeetZoneProductions That would make installing a CPU a pretty hard thing to do. That's why CPU manufacturers let you upgrade and install your own.
GuideToUsing 5 months ago
@GuideToUsing rubber glove?
LeetZoneProductions 5 months ago
@LeetZoneProductions No no no you don't need a rubber glove to install PC hardware :)
You just need to be careful, most problems with people installing PC hardware is when they bend a pin or damage the component through physical force.
The pins on an AMD CPU are so large that accidental contact with the pins with your fingers will not have any impact on the CPU's reliability or performance. The pins have a fairly large surface area.
GuideToUsing 5 months ago
@GuideToUsing Oh that explained allot, But what about the grease from the fingers. I heard that people are having issues with that.
LeetZoneProductions 5 months ago
@LeetZoneProductions It really depends, but 90% of the time accidental contact with the pins with your finger won't cause problems. I'm not saying you should hold it by the pins because you shouldn't. You should make sure the pins never contact anything other than the socket.
In saying that, and like I said before, accidental contact with pins normally won't result in abnormal behavior.

My motherboard has a AMD Athlon II X2 235e Processor. Does that mean it has the right socket for AMD Phenom II? I got my computer in Feb 2010.
Creationcreed 6 months ago
@Creationcreed since no one aswered yet, that's an am3. they made phenom IIs in am2+ and am3 if i'm not mistaken. heres the thing, it's 45 watts and the bus idk. that doesn't mean the board won't take anything better but if it's oem, you might be limited. your best bet is find out what the board is and shoot for that. amds cpus will downclock the bus if need be.the wattage is what you really need to watch.

i have a am3 motherboard and a single core proscessor can i just go out and lets say i get a quad core processor that says on my computers online website that it is supported. can i just switch them out and it will work
YESIAMMCLOVIN69 6 months ago
@YESIAMMCLOVIN69 As long as the website for your motherboard says it's supported and as long as you update the BIOS before installing the new CPU, it should work fine. :)

Jasmine34220 7 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@Jasmine34220 You may need to update the BIOS on the motherboard.
To do this you will need to put the old CPU back into the system so it starts up.
Using the brand and model of the motherboard as a guide, head over to the appropriate manufacturers website and find your "EXACT" motherboard.
Download the most recently available BIOS.
NOTE: Bios updates are very risky, I cannot be held responsible for any damages.
All information I post should only be seen as a guide.

Yes it is bad practice to do that but unless you have dirty or very oily fingers it won't do anything.
That isn't an invitation for people to start holding the CPU by it's contacts either. Lol.
