Wow, the guy is Bill Hinnant who was Snoopy in the stage play "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." Sadly he died fairly young at age 42. His brother Skip was on "The Electric Company" in the 1970s.

This is actually a good commercial. Wonder why flavor packs didn't catch on? Maybe they weren't cost effective. And, how does a cat pay for them? I didn't see a wallet on the cat.
Puss 'n Boots was originally marketed in the '60s by Quaker Oats' pet food division. Note the shelves the cat passes by are packed with Quaker Oats' other products- Puffed Wheat and Rice and Quick Quaker Oats....plug away!
