What Im wonder is how come hes goes through all this technique stuff but in those legit gatherings, I dont really see anything but front to back motions. No triangular foot work or looking for openings. Just quicker to strike. It honestly looks like mayhem fencing. Sure its bad ass, but what the hell.
I have one thing to say to all the FMA people here who get annoyed by IGNORANT comments from other martial artists. When someone is aggressive and stupid in what they say and they dont want to hear your point about knives or stick fighting. That is a good thing. We can train mma, fma and jkd thus getting the best of all of it. Ego maniacs are the type of people that we dont want carrying knives. If some thug or frat boy is dumb enough to think MMA is all you need thats great. drop the ego.
Milder999 says a very true thing about grappling on the street. Grappling a guy on the street is fine if you face one guy. But what happens when his friends or any clueless bystanders turn up?. Can you guarantee that when you audibly or visually notice their arrival (probably at a heck of a speed) that you will have enough time to disentangle yourself and be combat-ready before they arrive?.
You're more than likely not grappling on a nice soft mat you know.
Looks like MMAMickey is sprouting his bullshit again and making those assumptions he's so proud of (Remember what they do Mickey).
Well at the end of the day slinging insults about who knows what and who trained under who, and who didn't take English 101 doesn't really mean shit at the end of the day and it only makes all parties look like five year old kids. So I would like to offer my apologies and how about you guys agree to disagree.
And I would definitely recommend studying Kelly McCann.
Gota have balls to fight that. I don't know anything about weapons but for guys who whack each other with sticks their grappling is solid. This guy on the video sounds like Pat Militech
look up the cctv of the mma fighters dressed as women. It wont be any different to a street fight, other than the sport fighters can hit ALOT harder and take more shots
The stick fighting arts are predominantly derived from cultures that used bladed weapons such as machetes. While amazing for knife combat and pretty good empty handed I don't think they simulate realistic blunt weapons very well (bats, tire irons, etc.).
@MMAMickey I thought that would be obvious from my post but I guess not. No I do not do any "fighting sports". No I train for the real world where out there the only sport is survival and 99% of the time the first punch is all you get.
Look up and study Geoff Thompson, Richard Grannon, Lee Morrison. I have learnt a lot from these guys as the real world is the crucible that these fighters have been forged on. On a side note I also recommend studying Tony Blauer And Kelly McCann (Jim Grover).
That is all irrelevant. if you fight someone who is trained in a fighting sport ie. boxing, Muay thai, sanda etc etc you won't ko them unless you run up and hit them from behind. so you might get that first punch but then the guy who knows how to actually fight will wipe the floor with you.
plus, if you've ever had a streetfight you would know that your post is completely bollocks. the first punch is your best opportunity but not 'all you get' unless you land the first punch and then get ktfo
@MMAMickey Training in a fighting sport is a lot different then training for the street. In a fighting sport a fight contains a exchange of hits. On the street you train for the first punch because that will 99% of the time be the only hit you get.
You do that because unlike a sport where you can most of the time eyeball your opponent beforehand, you don't know how the attacker will attack you
That's why I train to hit first and hit hard.
Also search Tony Blauer and startle flinch response.
That's why I said train for the first punch, because that punch may be the only strike you get. That's your main artillery. The goal is not to stand there trading punches, it's to hit first, hit as hard as fuck and run.
Personally for you I would go out and buy Geoff Thompson's book Dead Or Alive, study it and then come back and tell me why you disagree.
And I read your post about the CCTV footage of the mms fighters. The reason those guys got attacked is because they were morons.
@MMAMickey WTF are YOU ON ABOUT. How were they investigated ive been to bullshido nothing but a buncha haters who hate everyone and everything. As for your big fat mouth why dont you shut up and go pick a fight with Dan Inosanto or Alen Lee or any of those guys probably you wouldnt ever do that cause yodu get yoru ass handed to you moron
..if you want to carry this on start a thread on Bullshido about these guys and see what info people will present you with. I have the same username on there so you'll know who you're talking to.
@MMAMickey I dont give a shit about bullshido there are other sites i can go to that arent full of jackasses like you. Ive been on bullshido idiot ive seen the BULlSHIT they say. and why dont you STFU and go put up or shut up you little moron. Oh and only losers attack other peoples spellings.............look up losers and assholes and there arguments.........then see how often they pick on other peoples spelling kiss my ass.
@MMAMickey I dont need to find evidence that they can fight i already know they can fight ive seen the arts they learned which is basically grappling and boxing which is the same shit you idiots in MMA learn the diffrence is they know were the art comes from yo idiots think you invented it. MORON. Why dont you go and fight them and you can have a video of your ass crying about it later.
@MMAMickey You probably like MMA for the soul purpose that you get to roll around on the ground with other men. now thats an insult punk, now picking on your spelling or grammer just the fact that yoru a total asshole.
@MMAMickey fapping? Im sorry i dont know what your talking about. Grappling is only one part of fighting you dont wanna be grappling on the street alot of people who spent there life fighting agree. Oh im 24 how old are you?
@MMAMickey Oh by the way.........your already watching a video showing that guys like the ones i refurred to can fight. Who do you think Denny trained under moron DAN INOSANTO
@MMAMickey Um your totally idiotic you know that? The Dog brothers train with the Machados. Marc Denny trains with a MMA guy i think named Trigg. Inosanto trained under the Machados too. Your totally ignorent about everything your talking about why dont you just show some damn respect to people who know how to fight just cause they dont do MMA doesnt mean they cant fight.
@MMAMickey Your the one who responded to me rudely at first and youve responded to me rudely a number of times. As for yoru comment you aboviously dont know what your talking about i just gave you information that you like to ignore. If you wanna ignore it thats not my problem thats yours.
as I have stated above, the dogbrothers are famous for full contact stickfighting. check out the filipino martial arts (kali, escrima, arnis or the indonesian silat to give you some "names" - not styles, there are dozens).
The sticks are mainly used like edged impact weapons like machetes, and that's why this stuff is very realistic. And most of the moves dont differ much empty handed. go check it out! :)
besides: nobody said a fight always has to happen on the street.
no to be honest no i dont know what the dogbrothers are faous for but dude listen man i know martial arts karate TKD kung fu BJJ muay thai and MCMAP k? so like on the streets youre not going to have a stick maybe a knife or a gun but never 2 guys fighting on the streets with sticks man lets be real ive gotten in plnety of fights nothing like that has happened i can name all the combats ive seen
What about a collapsible baton when security or police are involved, a baseball bat in a street fight, I've security footage of convenience store employees fighting off armed robbers with all kinds of stick like improvised weapons, there are plenty of examples.
The dog brothers also do lots of work with guns, knives, and any combination thereof. That stuff happens, hell I've been in knife knife situations.
There's some truth to what you say. MKG's Rick Faye is often quoted as saying: "if you run into a guy with 1 or 2 sticks on the street; better shake hands, cause you more than likely from your same school."
FMA guys understand the direct translation between weapons and the empty hands. The FMA and perhaps boxing (devloped from the quarter staff) are unique in this direct translation. Transfer of learning is seemless. Finally, if you can face a man w/ a stick, empty hands are easy.
The stick fighting is a big thing of kali.......but its not the main thing as you can see because you obviously see some unarmed combat in this, these guys trained under Dan Inosanto trust me they dont need a weapon to own anyone
I have never seen a real street fight that has not involved some asshole pulling knife from his pocket, a person trying to break a bottle on some guys head, or a guy pulling a bat or tire iron from their car.
Last I checked, a street fight involved using any and everything at hand to gain an advantage over the guy whose face you want to cave-in.
I could easily imagine many real situations where both fighter find themselves with some kind of weapon.
@earthswine999 At these gatherings which is were they fight. They use training knives (they started using electrified onces that shock you) they also use the sticks, staff, and ive seen a clip were a guy was using a bullwhip so as long as two combatants agree to fight with whatever weapon then its allowed.
What Im wonder is how come hes goes through all this technique stuff but in those legit gatherings, I dont really see anything but front to back motions. No triangular foot work or looking for openings. Just quicker to strike. It honestly looks like mayhem fencing. Sure its bad ass, but what the hell.

Tournament implies Karate?. I didn't mention karate, you did. Perhaps in your world karate is the only
real tournament out there, but amazingly there are other martial arts out there that have tournaments.
The only thing you did was assume I only meant karate. And when you assume, you make an ass out of u and me.
See you later ass
