The paramania glider he crashed on is the worst piece of crap on the planet and it is NOT certified. The quality gliders don't fall out of the sky like that. All of the recent deaths have been on that same brand of glider. Nobody has ever died or even been seriously injured on a Flat Top from Revolution Paramotors. You get what you pay for.
Treat comments & advice from so called 'super' Dell with caution... Dell still has not yet been able to work out that "DHV certificated" PARAgliders are NOT certified when flown under power... it also helps to remember Dell thinks crashing into the ground from 50ft up and/or at 40mph is 'safe' providing you are using the 'Flat Top' (he sells them...), some of Dells comments make sense some are criminally stupid.. so just make up your own mind which is which!

More people have died on that paramania than ALL other brands combined this year. Is that a fluke? Nobody has ever died on a Flat Top is that a fluke? Crumple zone, certified glider, always carry a reserve and get proper instruction and it is a seriously safe sport. To date serious injuries & deaths are at ZERO on the best equipment. I guess safety is stupid though according to the foolish.
PPG 'Crumple zones' WILL help... very slightly, remember we are not talking cars here! Re Certification, to BE certified the glider MUST be tested for power flight otherwise it is of course UN-certified if PPGing! "Proper Instruction" results in the normal accident, injury & death rates... CORRECT instruction however can result in as much as a 95% reduction in accidents! Re reserves try reading the article on Low reserve deployments and how to SURVIVE them!

Yes crumple zones help very slightly, it is only the difference between life & death. Very fine line there, not much difference. Proper instructions also makes a slight difference. Watch the video of Murray taking a frontal collapse and hitting the ground. That is why it is so important to get proper instruction and stay away from brilliant people that tell you reserve parachutes are bad. Doh.
Dell I suggest you look up "Truth" in a dictionary, Example: You claim 20" of suspension to your (it IS a nice design by the way) trike... yet the prop cage etc. is clearly skiming snow that is ONLY 6" deep.... By the way "proper" instruction has resulted in about SEVENTY deaths in the ten years since I started providing alternative training, my students accident rate is LESS than 5% of that in the US/UK rates, that's a LOT of pilots saved!
Mmmm 20" of suspension travel... Pity the bottom of the trike HITS the ground after about 6"..... Dell do the world a favor and stop making claims that are both stupid and obviously false! OR simply do the world a BIG favor and film YOURSELF dropping 30/40/50 feet (what ever your current silly claim is!) to PROVE the FlatTop/trike WILL protect the pilot.... The Equipment you sell looks good BUT unfortunatly much of the advice you give IS dangerous!

That is not the bottom of the trike silly, it is the skids on the Flat Top that are designed as crumple zones. You don't have to drop from 30-50 foot. Do you know the terminal velocity of a paraglider in full stall? Go to a good instructor so you can learn these things please. Stop pretending YOU are an instructor. You have no clue what you are talking about.
FT Trike "with 20" of suspension" BUT which will ground in 6"!!! What YOU regard as "good instruction" RESULTS in the accident rate seen in the sport... so I am NOT stupid enough to follow your 'advice'! Remember unlike you not only am I an instructor, but I am one that has been helping pilots AVOID the accident rates, MOST OF WHICH ARE DUE TO INSTRUCTOR ERROR, that the sport suffers from! So please stick to selling good equipment (which you do) and lay off giving dangerous advice!
Not-so-magnificent? Well, I suppose the Wright Flier couldn't be called magnificent either, but at least a PPG COULD make that cross country flight. Hats off to you from Florida, New Zealanders.
Good video. Thanks for uploading.

Hey Guys.. I'm the "boot scooter in this video.
The reason for the stall?
The other guys flew in rainy conditions I wouldn't.
A wet wing added to the stall problem.

very nice video.

only powered para gliders can fall to the ground randomly like that? or can non motor para gliding also have incidents like that?
bteeuwen 3 years ago
pretty sure he stalled it- you can see that he had the breaks really low- yes, you can fall to the ground... but not randomly!

I was about to get into this sport until i saw that guy plummet to the ground, i thought they were a bit safer than that.

My injury & death rate is ZERO. Yes 20 inches of travel, the skids are designed to crush and absorb energy as well.

What caused that collapse...that was a Reaction wing if i'm not mistaken?

The wing was wet when we reached that landing field. We had flown through showers before.

Being the "boot scooter" guy in this video it was an ambitious 3 weeks
trying to traverse so much territory in so short a time.
The start of the adventure along 90 mile beach was the best part of the trip in terms of flying.
Many great folks met along the way!

Great idea for publicity and the fun of it. Shame that the news anchor took a somewhat anti-PPG bias: "not-so-magnificent flying machines". WTF?
