i got scored on while defending an out route today in flag football. i was in perfect postition for the crisp pass that usually comes on an out route but this pass was thrown over the shouler like a post route or fly route and i couldn't get it, so pissed.
@outdoorsman715 thing about flag football is you are already at a disadvantage to play man to man since you can't jam a WR or it's a penalty. It's better to play a zone in flag, but your team has to practice that. Plus f routes are often improvised so without contact it's impossible to defend them. Best bet is to give a WR a lot of cushion and watch the QB at all times (cause they will usually stare down their receivers). Who cares if they catch it at the LOS, just make sure they don't get a 1st
@illskill3 i go under and thats why i got fucked when the qb threw the pass over the shoulder of the wide reciever and not a crisp pass. what should i do?
This was my favorite and one of my best routes to cover, and i dont think he goes deep enough into the route.
What I always do is i turn my back foot so its parallel with my shoulders so that when i plant my foot to jump the route, all of the cleats are in the ground. Try it and ull see u come out way more explosively, and dont break on the ball until they throw, if its a choice route, that receiver will just turn up the field, and ur burnt if u have no help over the top
that old saying "you get what you pay for", well I just found out that it also applies to free videos... (the football didn't even know what an out-route was, damn)

dude the line guy is right u should never push a wide receiver outside
and you shoud bump them as much as u can while ur in those 5 yards...
but if ur playing loose u shold not let him pass you on the outside

All these "How to play" on cornerback from expert village are bad. Don't listen to all he says! Bad advice on going under the WR!

no...stay over the top never undercut unless the ball is underthrown or slow...
this guy is a good jr. high coach, but it's cold outside so he's not thinking right...

he forgot to mention not to jump in front until the ball is thrown cause if you jump to early the reciver will go deep and then your screwed

And who says the QB will have that much time? Also, that is what the safety is for.
