I think the democratic leadership feels that by putting both of them on the ticket that will unify the party. Obama's game plan was to sneak in without a record so he could not be criticized. He then tried to pretend he was a moderate that could unify and we have found out he is everything but that.

Even if you don't like Clinton she has demonstrated that she can beat the odds and hang in there and still win. This is despite people like Richardson turning on her and trying to end it.

Secondly as I have already pointed out, HRC's PA results cannot be called anything else but miserable. She had the PA machine behind her, helping her out on the gorund, and those goons like Rendell and Nutter giving her free promotion on cable tv for months. Casey was a lot weaker and he joined Obama later and he doesn't have the machine. So Obama outspent HRC on mostly ads, but the airtime he gets from that is a lot less than the Rendell pandering. Most people hop channels during ads anyway.

But more to the point, she NEEDED a much bigger win. At least 3 times as high. So I disagree with you, HRC has not proven herself or beaten the odds. All she has proven is what we already knew, that she is delusional and stubborn. And lastly , Obama's record is just fine. HRC has 8 years in the senate, that's it. She is still behind by more than 1.2 mill in the popular vote based on the fact that caucus votes are delegate votes representing 5 to 100 individual votes. Even including FL and MI HRC is still 850,000 behind in the popular vote. I wish the media stopped reporting false popular vote numbers to make this race look more exciting than it is.

Iowa reported 940 votes for Obama and 737 for Clinton. I don't think there were a mere 1,600 votes cast in the entire state of Iowa. That's cause these are caucus delegate votes, representing anywhere from 5 to 100 individual votes each. But the media use these false numbers to calculate a 700,000 popular vote lead for Obama. If you apply the minimum factor of 5 to caucuses his lead is over 1.2 mill including PA. Including FL and MI his lead is over 850,000. That's the minimum.
