I’m happy with my 94 325i, but the only performance mods are sport suspension and the Signature Motoring performance intake for about $150. Signature Motoring kit adds around 9HP on the dyno, great sound, and the best performance upgrade for the money. See my channel videos!
-Adds 9-11 HP
-Never replace filter again (uses K&N filter)
-GREAT SOUND
-Installs in maybe 30-45 min. K&N filter lasts a lifetime.
At the start of the video 0:28 or so i noticed your left brake light wasnt working which was later clarified by your onboard computer. I do have a good eyesight!
This car just looks great. If I was looking to buy an E36 M3 and this was still available, I wouldn't hesitate. Fortunately, I already own a 1999 estoril/dove M3. Just passed the 120000 mile mark last week.
@Mr450 Again, you're the one who made the claim about victories without any qualification to your statement. And yes, between the M3 and the Skyline, I'll take the Bimmer any day of the week. BTW, GT1 IS a touring class.
@Mr450 Other 2? Certainly you mean the other FIVE? But I was giving you the benefit of the doubt by using the most successful iteration as an example. And the other 2 previous gens were not contemporaries of the e30 M3. And it seems as if you're saying that 12 championships are not a measure of performance? Really? ::::shrugs:::: To each his own I guess. And lest you forget, YOU were the one that claimed that "no M3 had the winning streak of the Skyline" I just showed you were incorrect.
Oops. Forgot to mention that the e30 weighed in @ 2856 vs. the 3rd gen Skyline @ 3146, thus making the power/weight ratio nearly identical. Not bad for a n/a four banger v. a 6 cylinder turbo.
@Mr450 3rd gen Skyline: inline turbocharged 6, 276 hp (stock trim),7 touring car championships. E30 M3: four banger, normally aspirated, 235 hp (stock Evo), 12 Touring Car championships, 9 - 24 hour race victories. As for GT, the GT-R fared poorly last year (GT-1, Europe), finishing the season 6th out of 6 teams. In the US, Nissan has competed with the 350z and, this year, the 370z, not the GT-R.
@propchef the m30 m3 isn't a 4 cylinder its an inline 6 3.0. and the us versions are detuned allot compared to the equivalent euro model. the e36 m3 us model has 240hp and the same exact car in europe has 320hp stock. i agree the m3 is in a realm of its own but the euro model not the u.s lol.
@floridabowhunter BTW, the US version is not a "detuned" engine. It's a completely different engine from the non-US model. The US 3.2 is a TUNED engine taken from the 328, with a different head, more displacement, and a different management system.
@Mr450 Um, "no M3 has the winning streak of the Skyline"? In what altered dimension are you talking about? The e30 M3 was the most successful touring car EVER. That's not my opinion, that's verifiable fact. From 1987 until 1992. the M3 won nearly every championship and long distance race it entered. The e36, a 15 year old chassis, is STILL competitive. The current Big Four in GT are BMW, Honda, Mazda, and Porsche. Where's Nissan?
@Mr450 You sir, have lost this dispute. I will now bask in the glory of victory. I really hope Nissan would someday revive the skyline, a cool car no doubt. Sales of the skyline never was too good, but hey... so what. Good day sir, and..."sniff sniff" yes, thats the smell of a new m3 burning rubber coming out of the factory everyday. Peace.
@Mr450 Calling me names is cool i guess... Just another way for you to be a dick. Successor, yes. Skyline, no. (Pretty pricy compared to a skyline) How many starts with launch control can the gearbox in a GTR stand? And talking about Nissan compared to BMW.. dude. As far as the M3 goes, it will probably never die. Thats the impact it has had on the automotive world. And what did a Skyline do? Star in a Fast and Furious movie? Im proud M3 owner, so you sir, can suck a fat one and get a real car.
@Mr450 "blah blah blah" good sir... why the hell are u even talking about your rice, "computer driven" bucket of a car, on a video showing some of the finest german engeneering, the Bmw M3? U probably drive a honda, and wish u had a nissan. NISSAN, the former DATSUN. Hmm, is the skyline produced still in this day? No. The M3? Yup... The E30 M3 sounds, and will always sound better than all the "beeps" your Mac... i mean Skyline ever will produce. Grow a pair, and get a E30. if u can afford one.
@Mr450 Granted both cars are pretty cool... But for example, in historical means the m3 beats the living crap out of any skyline. R34, yes, it has got about/over 320hp. R34= 1999-2002. The next gen m3= October 2000 with 343hp. All engine and rwd. So i dont care what u say. Rice is rice and muscle ís muscle. And btw, your Rb sounds like a little girl compared to a e30 m3.
That didnt sound like AA exhaust. It sounds just like OEM at high revs. And all US models had a KN cold AIR Intake installed. Youre a moron. Thats just a completely stock (minus the JENSON SAT radio) e36 M3. Homo
@HennessyPrince There are no "bolt on" mods that do anything significant to these cars. You'll never get over ~240 rwhp unless you go FI. A stage 2 NA mod will run you about $2500 and you'll gain about 20 rwhp. If you bought the car to do cheap performance mods, you bought the wrong car.
Performance E36ers can start with a Signature Motoring performance intake kit. It can add up to 11HP for only about $150 and installs in 30-45 minutes - really a must for every E36 owner. It also makes the car HOWL at high end but sounds normal at everyday driving. See my videos!
@BMWpower4me I call BS on this. If you disagree, link me to the dyno tests. CAIs alone on the e36, even a well designed one like Dinan, do nothing but improve the sound.
@propchef Email Signature Motoring for the dyno tests. HP gain is garanteed, only suckers who keep their head in the sand will hide from the power gain.
@vasilacheandrei The US version had the "consumption" gage. The Euro version had the oil gage in that same location.
And ps60k is correct about the OBC warning. Yes, the left brake light is out, but the OBC warning is for the CIRCUIT. Either the switch is bad at the pedal, or there is a short in the wire loom in the trunk. Both are known issues for the e36.
Douchiest shades I have ever seen. And stop touching your face. Gotta wipe some brosauce off your mouth?
Wow, the car is in excellent mechanical condition! I mean look at how cold the A/C is!
I like how you go on about condition, while the AIR BAG light is on, the CHECK CONTROL light is on, and the OBC is freaking out about a failed brake light circuit.
"It's got a performance chip, most likely..." Admit it, you know nothing about this M3. I would never buy from you.
@ps60k Air bag light is a super common issue, almost always caused by faulty seat belt receptacles (who cares). Check control light is on for the same reason the OBC is on, and the failed brake light circuit issue as you can clearly tell in the video is a brake light burned out. If those are the kinds of things that you focus on when buying a car you must spend alot of time at the tech shop spending money on the real parts of the car ;)
@mercedesdoctor Wrong. A blown brake light will read "1 BRAKE LIGHT FAIL", or "BRAKE LIGHTS FAIL" if both are out. Faulty wiring or a bad brake switch (common) will read "BRAKE LIGHT CIRCUIT" and the brake lights may never come on when braking. I have an E36 and recently fixed a brake circuit wiring issue. It was difficult to fix. Maybe I'm paranoid, but safety is important. Failing brake lights are dangerous. Plus, if the SRS light is on for any reason, the airbags will not deploy in a crash.
@ps60k I would prefer for an early model airbag to no deploy personally.. ever see one detonate? I work on these cars as a profession and when airbags are dated and need to be discarded we set them off so they are not a hazard after disposal. Set them horn side down on the pavement and set them off, its like a shotgun going off and they shoot up about 30 feet. I definatly will take my chances otherwise thank you.
@ps60k I, indeed, stand corrected about the brake light fail, it is not a brake light switch obviously however because only one light is out. It is most likely the bulb socket or tail light housing with burnt connections. Very common on every bmw model we see at my shop. So claiming he knows nothing about the car just because he said it was in good shape dispite these very minor (cheap to fix) flaws is just ignorant. There are far more expensive, important things to worry about than this.
Looks like it has some sort of an error message on the OBC display, can't read what it says from the video though. Looks like a nice car overall though.
I've been driving my 1998 M3 for 6 yrs harder than that (135K miles) and it still runs like new. Just get the Diff Support Bracket for the rear end (e36 weak point) and do regular maintinance and your good to go.
Why? Nothing on this clip shows abuse of any kind, not even close. In fact, the car looks very clean and well taken care of. It isn't a Honda. The M can take the revs (considering that it has a chip, he shifting WELL below red line), has a nearly bombproof clutch, and are regularly used for the track straight from the factory. All the mods point to the PO being an enthusiast. Depending on price, I wouldn't hesitate to consider this car.
@StillOnWin95 most car company has a racing engine. even ALL honda motor are racing engine... dosnt it mean its fast? of course not. fast for its size of course. only american motor isnt race engine.
before i wait for you reply you going say something. what makes a race engine, race engine? simple, oil jet squirter. lubricate and cool down the piston for high revving.. whatever im just saying.
damn when he did the pull the needles were barely moving my friend has a 95 s50 motor and its slow as balls you think oh im in this amazing machine then u get let down when u downshift
lol u cant compare a supra to a BMW..first of all u wont find a Supra RZ for a good price, on top of that BMW has more class and luxury but at the same time holdin down speed not only in a straight line but on a course as well
in australia u can get a JZA80 with around 80000k's for about $30k. comapre the E36 specs to the supra RZ specs....even on paper it beats it.......of course nothing beats bmw luxury........even the GTR will beat an m3
30k???!?! i can get a BMW M3 right now for $7k..yes the GTR will beat an M3 but how much is a GTR? im not willin to pay that much just for speed..mite as well dump 10K on a M3 and get 560RWHP
if you mean why do american versions get less power its because the e36 m3 was too expensive for American market, BMA NA were not confinced these would sell so BMW reduced the american price but had to remove the Expensive Heads/throttle bodies that the europe market got, i think a few more things were ditched and U.S. ended up with the 240 bhp versions.
yea well yours is the american spec m3. the manifold looks like a standard 6 cylinder engine. beside your car produces roughtly 240 hp and the euro spec produces about 321bhp
All dynos show different numbers. you can go arround to different dynos and easily find +or- over 15 horsepower. dynos are not for finding exact horespower numbers but are for tuning. Anyway you are prob right about the claim being higher than actual rwhp but heaps of people like quoting outputs on a dyno, is just a waste of money if u r not making computer changes.
coupe tails with fit coupes, sedan tails will fit sedan, coupe hoods are longer, and the fenders on coupes are diff, which means the turn signals beside the lights are diff.
Blah blah blah. Show me maintenance receipts. Show me cooling system overhaul receipts. Show me RTAB replacement receipts.. Show me receipts for brake fluid and cooland flushes every two years. Don't give me this BS about "don't worry about the mileage"

I tend to disagree. The design is a CAI stock, not K&N, in fact these cars predate much of K&N's crap.
But you are right about the CAI, it's just baffled with an airbox that feeds from the outside.
Only reason people put aftermarket CAIs in their cars is for the sound, which isnt necessarily a bad thing, unlike hondas.

BMW M3 engines are racing engines. Just because your ricer has VTEC doesn't mean other cars can't rev.
StillOnWin95 2 years ago 30
@StillOnWin95 most car company has a racing engine. even ALL honda motor are racing engine... dosnt it mean its fast? of course not. fast for its size of course. only american motor isnt race engine.
before i wait for you reply you going say something. what makes a race engine, race engine? simple, oil jet squirter. lubricate and cool down the piston for high revving.. whatever im just saying.

this car may not be the fastest ever made but you cant argue with the sweet sound of that engine. Clean looks, like a perfectly fitted suit.
Now only if the owners of these cars had a sense of style fitting such a classic car.

your right the lines on the e36 still look sweet today and is a timeless classic

e30 2.5L=235hp
e46=333hp e92=420hp
E36 WAS A BMW FAILLLLLLLLLLLLLL
jesusfucksignmeupalr 2 years ago
ya e36 3.2 motor has a lot of potential and u can get an e36 m3 for like 10,000 clean
add another 6 g's on turbo nd ull fuk every other m3 up
doubledoubles4life 2 years ago
supra RZ........230kw at the wheels without mods....all at 1300rpm......debuted in 93'....it would take out any m3 in its time.......
signeduplate 2 years ago
lol u cant compare a supra to a BMW..first of all u wont find a Supra RZ for a good price, on top of that BMW has more class and luxury but at the same time holdin down speed not only in a straight line but on a course as well
doubledoubles4life 2 years ago
in australia u can get a JZA80 with around 80000k's for about $30k. comapre the E36 specs to the supra RZ specs....even on paper it beats it.......of course nothing beats bmw luxury........even the GTR will beat an m3
signeduplate 2 years ago
30k???!?! i can get a BMW M3 right now for $7k..yes the GTR will beat an M3 but how much is a GTR? im not willin to pay that much just for speed..mite as well dump 10K on a M3 and get 560RWHP
doubledoubles4life 2 years ago
a euro e36 m3 is faster than the supra rz!!!

hi . are you sure...Supra RZ is Twin turbo....stock to stock....u think the M3 will Win? how bout R34 skyline GTR v E36 M3?

why do they always dumb down the american versions? sigh
josj15 2 years ago 8
if you mean why do american versions get less power its because the e36 m3 was too expensive for American market, BMA NA were not confinced these would sell so BMW reduced the american price but had to remove the Expensive Heads/throttle bodies that the europe market got, i think a few more things were ditched and U.S. ended up with the 240 bhp versions.
Im glad in live in england, lol

That doesn't seem to pull like a proper M3. Is that a USA model? euro 3.2 hits alot harder.
But anyway that is suuper clean looking!
makexxx 2 years ago
Yes, it's a US model. At 0:32 you can see it has a single throttle body. The European model had individual throttle bodies for each cylinder.
d00df00d 2 years ago
Well well, guess I'm becoming blind. Did not really saw that single throttle body in that engine bay.
I feel bad that you guys over there can't experience the true nature of E36 M3's with S50. :(

b18k4705 2 years ago
yea well yours is the american spec m3. the manifold looks like a standard 6 cylinder engine. beside your car produces roughtly 240 hp and the euro spec produces about 321bhp
b18k4705 2 years ago
euro m3 doesent produce 320 hp, thats all lies. take a stock euro on a dyno :p it doesent produce as much as they say
slowdubbin68 2 years ago
do you own a dyno machine? do you have proof that it doesnt produce 321 bhp?
b18k4705 2 years ago
All dynos show different numbers. you can go arround to different dynos and easily find +or- over 15 horsepower. dynos are not for finding exact horespower numbers but are for tuning. Anyway you are prob right about the claim being higher than actual rwhp but heaps of people like quoting outputs on a dyno, is just a waste of money if u r not making computer changes.
jcadlols 2 years ago
may i ask what was the dyno set up?

I would only take an E36 M3 over the R32 if it were a true euro spec model with with the 3.2 ITB 320 horse motor.
