I'm getting mine friday! The at2020 usb is a great microphone, has a lot of reviews, you can get everything for amazon, for CHEAP, ill be making a review video as well! Everyone should invest their time in the portable recording studio, search it, BETTER RECORDING!
I would agree that the XLR version sounds better. The AT2020 has just a little lest robust sound than my SM58s and less noise too (still love my 58s), but range is better on AT2020 (as condenser mics are more sensitive). After monkeying with the gain controls a bit, I found that it can filter out unwanted noise quite well. I use it with my Blue Icicle and the Shure X2U. So far, I like it. Excellent presentation!
I have this mic except its an xlr version. It works well I have recorded voice and acoustic guitars with it sounds decent with a good pre-amp and interface.
Dude you are the shit!, although i dont so much find this microphone anything special . . i record Vocals for hip hop and i find it to be Muddy. if anyone gets the meaning of that. but i may be using it wrong, like standing to close to it.
lol, lil kid presentin tha news, but it's pretty kool, i luv tha mic, i think u might need to move it about less and maybe get a windscreen but yeah, i like tha mic.
CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT TO DO.. WHAT DO YOU USE ASIDE FROM LAPTOP VISTA, A WEBCAM AND AT2020 USB MICROPHONE IN ORDER TO RECORD A GOOD QUALITY SOUND? DO i need speakers, software, mixers? Normally, I don't hear what I recorded til the end of recording and play it back,.... PLEASE HELP!!!
oh i see where were bumping head with this, im talking about the Usb Mic, your talking about the other one, and yes the one your referring to is 79 USD the usb one is 120 USD
Can anyone help me? I have a Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Microphone and it records great but I can't get the playback to work while i'm speaking into it. I need to be able to hear my voice while i'm recording but can't seem to figure out how to make it work. Any suggestions?
@2real2touch Well since I was going to go with the USB version but after reading this and some other comments on other videos I have changed my mind what would I need in order to have it run without USB power? I'm going to be using it for voice commentarys/ventrilo but, my friend may use it for music from time to time
@2real2touch Ok, what do I need to start recording with the xlr version? I'm thinking of buyng a sound card with pre-amp...something like a ESI U46 XL, but wat kind of cables do I need to start recording? The one they give is a usb and I'm not shure if that sound card has a USB input.
What do you guys use? It wouldn't surprise me to find out you used a teleprompter xD, because you never hiccup during your speech. It consistent throughout. Almost TOO professional. ;)
Like i said it is made for simple things like live broadcasting, youtube, etc.... Example youtube profile: Lockergnome But to go into singing you will need to do a more extensive upgrade and not use USB, Fire wire, Etc.. and stick with the traditional microphone output, run it into a soundboard, and thus then into the computer on a already finished level. Hope this helped, TheSoftwareManiac Ohh yea, my dad owns a studio, thats why i know =]
It depends if you're trying to perform live or record. It's perfect for live apps because it's pretty much indestructible, but you could find much better mics for recording.
If you're trying to save money, check out the MXL 990. That'll run around $50. For a little more, the Pacific Pro Audio LD-1 is one of the best mics for the money I've ever used, and that costs around $100. I wouldn't use either of those live, and that being said, an SM58 is always a solid mic to have around just in case.
holy crap at the end..that was a mouth full

i have the xlr version of this mic and sounds a lot better than the usb version. pre-amp versions are always better

@2real2touch where do i get a pre amp to plug it up?
Kpeezy4life 1 year ago
@2real2touch well that's a no-brainer. USB mics are made for people who don't have the money to buy pre-amp, studio quality mics or preamps themself.

@2real2touch i cant find any reviews on the XLR version! could you maybe make a soundtest of it?

you don't need phantom power with ANY usb mics (that I know of).
If you're using a non-usb mic you can purchase the 'micmate' which converts a normal mic to usb and provides phantom power
