I feel that martin has benefited from playin gwith one team that has never really had a above average backup (ie a starter on anyother team) Patrick had Hayward who was a Sharks starter for a while. It's arguable which goalie was better in Roy or Brodeur. Roy has never played 70 games while Brodeur has done it several times. They both played under different systems with the Devils trap system but Roy had great players in Colorado. Brodeur has the most wins in regular season but Roy is the best playoff goalie even player of ALL Time. He has 3 Conn Smythes which is more than anyone in the history of the game. The reason why Hasek didn't have more wins, is because he played as a back up goalie for Belfour and fuhr a long time. He also played most of his starter career for the sabres who didn't have much of a team exept him. Roy, Brodeur and Hasek are all three the best symbols of excellence in the goaltending style they practiced. Roy (butterfy) Brodeur (Hybrid) Hasek ( floppy).

Yep, the Avs screwed themselves with goaltending this year, but at the same time Theo wanted way to much; Caps over-paid him. Unless Budaj or Raycroft get hot during the course of the season, goaltending is going to suck again. w/e though, our D is strong this year, which is a big plus. Not to mention the whole team is healthy. Avs re-signed Svatos and Wolski, combined with Stastny, we have a great group of young guys, the future looks promising.

I'm sorry but i have absolutely no faith in Budaj, he has gotten the starting job 2 times now and he can't play consistently. Idk if his conditioning sucks or he gets nervous, but he can't keep a 3rd period lead to save his life. The Avs should have pursued a goaltender this year or brought up Sauer, who looks he'll be a promising goaltender. I have more faith on Raycroft taking us somewhere.
