I always found it ironic that when one for your party members falls you just revive them, but when the main character falls, it's instant game over even with Revival Beads, what do the others do, just leave you there and run away.

I guess since your the leader, the other don't know what to do without you. I think it's to add to the challenge really.

True it adds some challenge especially if you are doing expert mode, normal mode is challenging enough for me.

I've been wondering... If you got Chie's social link up to 3 before this fight, and then used ice on the prince with the MC, could Chie use her follow up attack on Shadow Yukiko?

If so, that's probably why later bosses are just one enemy/don't have helpers with weaknesses...

Yes, but it wouldn't be an instant kill anymore (her attack turns into Galaxy Kick, not an instant kill). But I think you could still kill the Prince. *ponders* Maybe. . .not sure myself.
