honesty401, I thought it was pretty common knowledge that the 98 Gt's had more power. I didn't know the troque was different too, the parts are not exactly the same. They changed the exhaust in either the manifold or the port. It had 225hp.

Actually yea the 95 comes with a 5.0 ive been in one and one of my freinds owned one they quit making them after 95 and is gonna start making 5.0 again

They are both 5.0's. And the 96-98 4.6 liter engines that came stock in a mustang ar junk a 5.0 eats them alive. Only the PI improved 99 and up gt 4.6 can take a 5.0 stock vs stock.

But you can add full exhaust and other bolt ons without ever asking the computer. You can bump up timing by hand. You can install a gear and not need a new tune, ect... both have advantages and disadvantages.

4.6 makes more power the fox body has the advantage of being lighter yet still runs a few tenths slower through the quarter. All you fox body drivers are air heads 4.6 is a better all around engine its why ford shit canned the 5.0 in the first place.

Yes they are but on the modular platform nothing even similar to the old 302s. They have the same displacement but totally different engine all together.

@NHSwrestler 94-95 5.0 came with 215hp stock......the coyote 5.0 comes with 412 stock.....so almost 200 hp difference

@wyldfantasyx how's that? 94-95's had 215 stock horsepower the 98 gt had 225 and 290ftlbs torque, that is more than the 94-95's and the same horsepower as the 80's foxes. you will get surprised one day when a 96-98 guy has a pi swap and eats you up. all it takes is pi intake and pi cams and they are usually just as fast if not faster than 99-04's now if they add the pi heads as well game over for the 99-04 due to the increase in compression.

@honesty401 as i previously stated I said stock vs stock. I dont get surprised on the street anymore I am the one doing most of the surprising. The PI stuff came on the 99-04 so if you put that stuff on the 96-98 motor, well its not stock anymore now is it?

Plus when talking stock vs stock you forgot\ to mention that the 5.0 produces more torque than the 4.6 there fore allowing it to keep up with a motor with a little less torque but more hp.

@wyldfantasyx technically it is stiil stock as it's stock parts of another mustang...but actually the 94-95 mustang have less horsepower AND torque than the 98. 94-95 came with 215hp and 285ftlbs torque....while the 98 came with 225hp and 290ftlbs torque...look it up.

@honesty401 I don't care what Ford labeled them the motors are the same and they are junk. The engines have all the same exact parts from 96-98, so how did the engine suddenly start to make more power? It didn't. I have seen tons of these cars dynoed they do not put down that much power stock.

Ford didnt shitcan the 5.0 until i think 99. it was still used in ford explorers, keep in mind a 5.0 is just a oldschool 302 with some mods and a efi intake on it. It was not as clean running as a 4.6 either. The only reason why they pull in the upper rpms is because of the lack of CI and stroke to the motor. I like 4.6s and everything, But I wouldnt say ford shit canned the 5.0, just moved on to something more ecofriendly. And slightly simpler but more difficult at the same time.

I kinda wanna take back my thought about it being simpler, But the 5.0 is definitely old tech, I have one, I realize this. But the only stock 4.6 2v that beats a 5.o is a 99-04 and they make as much as a 5.0 cobra that comes with gt40 heads.

ford went to the 4.6 in 95 i think. definitely before 96. in 99 i believe the 4.6 recieved the PI heads. this changed was not because the motor was bad either. its because of emissions demands. both engines are fine if they are taken care of. but in a top speed run i would like my 4.6. plus i like the sound of the 4.6 too. good race btw

Uhhhh you still need to shift even when its stock, duh, and I didn't go into detail but that car has gone 12.5@110.5mph so I would sat its justified. This race was motor vs motor, both of these cars are nitrous cars.
