Kuma's ability allows him to repel anything including people, he repels a person to a location by sending them flying for 3 days and 3 night.Kuma saved luffy and them because he believes Luffy can change the world, also because he use to be part of the revolutionary army.
Kuma has the power to teleport anyone wherever he wants, thats why he always asks if theres a place you ever wanted to visit, he thinks the straw hats can change the world, dont you think its a coincidence that Zoro happened to end up on hawk eyes island, or Nami happened to end up on a weather island?

The reason for Ussop to be sent to the plant/ island thing is because of how difficult it would be for him to leave. He'd have to train himself just to leave and that would put him atleast close to the others. And the reason for Zolo to be sent to the castle where MiHawk lived was for that very reason. Mihawk lived there. Who better to train Zolo than the wolrd's greatest swordsman, though Zolo does lose an eye.
DBZmaniac, Robin was sent to that island because members of the Revolution were going to, I guess, liberate the area(it's been a while since I read that part of the manga) and Dragon, Lyffy's father and Revolution Leader was looking for Robin so the beat way to get Robin to Dragon so she can also train was to be sent there.
And finally Franky is send to an island where Vegapunk lives (Vegapunk is the creator of Kuma and all pacifistas) and he will make him the ultimate android.And after 2 years everyone will meet again in Sabaody Archipelago.

OMG they are NOT dead.......Kuma is in revolutionary army and is a good person that helps them escape and send them in places where they can train and be 10 times stronger than they used to be.Because if Kuma left them there Kizaru and the other navy army would kill them all cause straw hats where not so strong to defeat them but after the training they can ;)

i think luffy should get a female from amazon lily to join his crew ( possibly margaret) because he needs another female in his crew. And he should get some one else from fishman island. that should pretty much make and complete his crew
have you even seen in some anime (not dubbed) someone saying anything with R, they always pronounce it L. So some TV houses/networks translate it as Ruffy instead of Luffy. So when you see someone writting Ruffy, just see it as Luffy, as they know him differently.

kuma has blown everyone on different islands
and ruffy too
when ruffy found out that his brother should be executed he goes to impel down(the worlds biggest prison), where ace also is a prisonner
when ruffy arrives he rescues lots of prisonners but the marine has brought ace away to a plce where he will be executed in public
so ruffy, jimbei, crocodile, ivan-kov and the other take a boat from the marine and they all want to go there.
