  • Oh wow I was just thinking the other day about my captain power ship/gun thing. I never had the tapes though I don't think. And is it just me or are today's commercials just lame after watching this lol

  • Oh i still have my cat/rat purrtender.... but she's missing her disguise.... i used to wear it around the house...

  • Oooookkkkkkkkkkkkk, that Cinderella commercial is a ploy to gear up kids for 1-900 numbers later in life??

  • I can remember some of the commercials as if they had aired yesterday, but others are a complete mystery to me.

  • I remember Friut Wrinkles! Fruit Corners was a small fruit snack company that was brought by General Mills in 1988, Betty Crocker is the parent company of General Mills. Yeah, I remember those dumbass 1-900 party lines for kids. Thank God no kid I knew was that gullible. LOL a VHS game. What a piece of shit no wonder Radio Shack and Hasbro scrapped plans for a VHS console.

  • It sounded like they said ``Lots of Fruity Marshmallow Shit'' at 8:10. I remember the Oliver and Company Purr-tenders they gave away at McDonalds.

  • You know what's hot? That girl in the tv on the poptarts commercial

  • What an awesome way to waste a workday!

  • Buck from 'The Great Outdoors' was in that 'Captain Power' commercial. Too rad!

  • River!!!!!!!! You're alive!!!!

  • What is so hot it is cool, yet so cool it is hot?

  • Bring back pudding roll ups!

  • These commercials look nothing like the ones we see today. All of this screams 80's. I don't see how anyone could see otherwise.

  • 8:48 I'd return the damn thing. Who wants a friggin' cat anyway!?

  • Honestly, how did "Dino Riders" never catch on?!

  • The power of the future is in your hands (in the form of a VHS tape!)

  • Purr-tenders kinda looks cool for young children, could/should be revived. "Captain Power Videotapes" looks like a slightly less dreadful version of the Action Max. I feel sorry for the Trix rabbit. I am *not* shocked that I'm watching a whole bunch of commercials from before I was born.....Everybody's doing it.

  • I guess the fat guy ate the other two baker

  • 80s 4ever!

  • The older brother in the "Captain Power" commercial is the older brother in The Great Outdoors movie i think.

  • four FREE markers! WOWWEE!

  • Wow... The chick in the Snickers commercial was absolutely gorgeous.

  • 'Pudding Roll-Ups!' FAIL!

  • The earliest of the (976) and (1+900) Commercials was shown at about 1:00. Wow.

  • That Snickers ad wouldn't get by the FCC now. The Purr-tenders were a short lived toy line.

  • @80sCommercialVault Regarding the guitarist in the Snickers commercial, I think he's very convincing. He uses the same tapping technique popularized by Eddie Van Halen and other guitarists during that time.

  • I wonder if Seth Green has ever listed "Pudding Roll Ups Commercial" on his resume. I would.

  • Wow FRUITY CRISPIES, fruit wrinkles Pudding Roll ups..I forgot all about those...good times..that hot wheels set ans smack looked like a straight DUD!

  • @jbmag45 Maybe they got send on th ePony Express!

  • @timcich Yes I am pretty sure that is Chris Young , actor who starred in The Great Outdoors (with John Candy, Dan Aykroyd) and who also played Bryce Lynch in the recently re-released Max Headroom series (On DVD!) I spotted Chris in an Epcot center ad as well, in an earlier edition of 80's commercials that OP posted. :)

  • Hey! Fred Savage! xD

  • Is that the kid from The Great Outdoors in the Captain Power video tapes commercial? The kid at the end I think is the older brother in that movie

  • Those pudding roll-up look nasty. The fruit roll-ups are tastier

  • Fred Savage!! Lol noone else noticed him?

  • in the cinnamon commercial its homer simpsons voice or am i wrong?the first guy in the last scene.

  • Cinderella can tell us the wonderful story of Valium!

Those 976 numbers had no shame.

  • Whatever happened to Bigfoot/Yeti? Back in the 70's and 80's he was EVERYWHERE?

  • if you help name the Trix rabiit you get 4 free markers? Nowadays it's like $25,000...

    -_-

  • @EpicSmartAss They had plenty of cash/shopping spree giveaways back then. This just wasn't one of them.

  • I had the Puppy Purr-tender. Dogs are more work than cats...makes no sense.

  • LOL @ the intimate conversation about Snickers candy bar.

  • aww man I use to love the pudding roll-ups, I wonder if they still make them?

  • God, I would kill for some Fruit Wrinkles right about now...along with a box of HiC (with the old school label, of course...)

  • Wait, was there a time where families were saying "no honey you can't get a cat, but if you see a rabbit its yours"? Shouldn't it be rabbits pretending to be cats rather than the other way around.

Yes, I know I take these commericals too seriously.

  • So did the Trix rabbit ever get a name?

And somehow, I doubt a ballerina would chow down a Snickers bar for a snack.

  • sup...i'll call ya cinderella

  • Oh, that Cinderella ad brings back a painful memory: running up my parents' phone bill dialing some 976 number I'd seen on TV. $2.00 per minute, indeed!

  • Fish like to eat fruit rollups.

  • @slimj817 No, they like to eat Fruit Wrinkles. It's Octopuses that love Fruit Roll-Ups. Weren't you listening to the commercial?

  • The Kool-Aid commercial is pretty epic. =)

  • @SallyAcorn09

Indeed. That was technologically advanced for it's time and a total head-trip to boot.

  • I still think the Kool Aid Koolers ad in #1 was better than this one. :)

  • when i was a kid i use to think that fish really would eat fruit wrinkles. lol

  • I used to LOVE Fruit Roll-ups and Fruit Wrinkles.

  • These don't really "feel" like 80's commercials. That Snickers commercial was like something straight out of the 2000's.

  • These commercials embody the spirit of the 80's (And my own personal memories of childhood and watching cartoons) than anything else on my channel. So my response to that is basically "WTF dude?".

  • @SouthwesternEagle Yeah that Snickers commercial is so 2000 with their 2000 hair cuts and clothing and the copyright © Mars Inc. 1987.

  • @Icemangqx yyyyyeah....now that I look at this commercial again, maybe it is not so 2000's. I meant that the interview-style commercial was a bit ahead of its time.

  • @SouthwesternEagle If anything, it's a testament to their timelessness!

  • @territorygal Wow, people are really roasting me for that comment. Geez.

I was born in 1990! I know almost NOTHING about the 1980s. I'm only comparing these commercials to similarities I find in modern commercials because that's what I grew up with. My days have almost nothing in common with the 1980's, and never will.

  • @SouthwesternEagle Perhaps then, you shouldn't make statements like "These don't really "feel" like 80's commercials" without having a basic understanding of what 80's commercials "feel" like.

  • @SouthwesternEagle Oh, I wasn't putting you down or anything. I apologise if it came off that way. I was trying to say that I think you have a point. :) While many aspects of advertising have changed over the years (jingles, target markets, quality), there are a few basic elements that remain timeless - particularly in that Snickers ad you mentioned. The fact that you didn't grow up in the 80s, but could still relate, is only a testament to their timelessness. That's not a bad thing.

  • @SouthwesternEagle ..I think that may have been what you meant when you said, "These don't really 'feel' like 80s commercials." Am I right?

  • @SouthwesternEagle These guys are being a little hard you. I think all your'e saying is advertising has changed very little in 30 years. The only thing different are the clothes and hair of the actors. Remember kid, the more things change, the more they stay the same :-)

  • @bobafunky I don't understand how anybody could think that advertising hasn't changed in 30 years. Have you actually watched TV these days?

  • Given that I remember nearly every one of these commercials, there's no telling just how much truly awful kiddie TV I watched back in the 80s. I remember being tempted to call a 976 number once (I think for Christmas stories straight from "Santa"), but did actually seek my parents' permission. My mom made it clear in no uncertain terms that permission was denied.

  • Holy crap...I had that Captain Power game. Thats why I forgot about christmas 1987.

  • my nephew would love that hot wheels car.

  • LMAO@ 4:42

  • I think that Angry Video Game Nerd a.k.a. Angry Nintendo Nerd should review the Captain Power video game/video tapes. Of all video games, video game systems, or whatever else with video or TV technology from the 80s, A.V.G.N. would have fun reviewing Captain Power.

  • "CHILDREN get your parents permission." I bet she doubled as a phone sex operator for the NON-CHILDREN who called.

  • The first clip on the cinnamon toast chrunch they had three characters, now they only have one the one with the glasses they dropped the other two you dont see them no more.

  • sneaky cats!

  • I thought the Cinderella ad sounded like an adult phone ad too! Pudding roll ups sound disgusting.

  • Yep, I thought she sounded like a phone sex operator as well.

    Shit, I'd go for her.

  • Oh and PS: Pudding Roll Ups were absolutely delicious. They really did taste like melted chocolate that was then dried and turned chewy. Tasted more like hot chocolate, really.

  • @livingstranger actually they were delicious, i remember them, tasted just like pudding lol

  • I don't know if its me... but that Cinderella phone number ad... reminds me (in quality too) of those phone sex ads ¬¬

  • omg i remember dino-riders! Those were awsome back in the day lol

  • Some of the best toys ever made! Remember Starcom? I still try to rebuy them on ebay for nostalgia

  • i almost forgot that cinnamon toast crunch had 3 bakers in the commercial

  • is the fruit roll up comerical done by the same people that did the animated penny segemants on peewees playhouse?

  • Pudding roll ups blechhh!

  • That Cinderella ad almost looks like a phone sex commercial...HAHA

  • @DinkCincinnati , lol I was just thinking the same thing and was vabout to post those exact words but you beat me to it.

  • @DinkCincinnati haha thats what i thought it was...a lil weird that was haha

  • @DinkCincinnati For foot fetishists! LOL You're right though. Filmed in the same manner and from the looks of it, starring one of the same kind of actresses.

  • I think that cow was offended

  • fruity marshmallow krispies man i use to eat that cereal every morning when i was a kid there was nothing like getting up on a saturday morning watching cartoons with a big bowl of that cereal

  • that one chef looks like barney fife i guess the other two chefs didnt share there cinnamon toast crunch

  • Hahahaha! 7:54 omg laughing my head off right now!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • "If i'm dancing and hungry I eat snickers.. then I can vomit it back up, and dance again!"

  • I miss Fruit Wrinkles. Those were awesome.

    Wacky Wild Kool Aid Style.

    Fred Savage at 8:35

  • The pop tarts commercial is my personal favorite from this bunch.

  • Sgt. Hartman: "Show me your war face!"

    3:25

  • Awesome commercials. I miss my Dino-riders and captain power toys.

  • I was in 2nd grade when these commercials were out. Who could forget Captain Power? I had the white ship and my friend had the black on. I remember the VHS tape, which came with it. Of course, G.I. Joes and Transformers were the shit, then. I liked M.A.S.K., Bionic Six, Voltron, Silverhawks and the list goes on. If you haven't noticed, I miss the 80's.

  • @1Dub79 Thundercats!

  • Thanks for the flashback - been a rather long time since I've heard of that Krispies flavor! I miss the old KBHK 44 station...

  • what are Purr-tenders?

  • Why River Pheonix committed suicide

like that. :-( Rest in peace

  • He died of an accidental drug overdose...not suicide.

  • I originally thought the Cindarella commerical was for kinky fantasy sex calls.

  • Awesome Kool-Aid commercial! Love the opera singer!

  • Even more so when you freeze frame it to where it appears she's projectile vomiting blood.

  • RIP River Pheonix.

  • So, did Trix Rabbit ever end up with a name?

  • I like Chris Young :)

  • Man I remember all these commercials!!!

  • thanks for the Capt. Power vid....couldn't remember it and that does look like the kid from The Great Outdoors!

  • the snickers commercial was fucked they made snickers seem like a necessity like without one you cant start your day

  • I forgot how much dancers need Snickers bars to dance.

  • Who cares about that Wonder Years actor in #17? Too easy. What about #5? The eldest kid is the same eldest son of John Candy in The Great Outdoors, so ha! Who else caught that one? :-P

  • He also played Bryce in Max Headroom :)

  • But did you know that he played in TGO? ;-P Anyway, that's cool that he was in Max Headroom.

  • Pudding roll pops? That's....different.

  • Roll-UPS. Like fruit roll-ups...with pudding.

  • At the start of the Pop Tarts commercial, I thought he was waking up with a sexy blond before I realized it was a dog.

  • Call Cinderella for a good time. I bet that number no longer exists or it's a sex line now.

  • i loved pudding roll ups, i wish they still had those.

  • Explorers....that looked like ethan hawk. I'm not saying it is or isn't but it does look like him tho.

  • It IS Ethan Hawke. IMDB/Google is your friend.

  • Purr-Tenders....LOL Who came up with that idea?? she takes off it's mask and it looks more like The count from sesame street!

  • Mmm, Fruit Marshmallow Krispies! I begged my mother for these and we got them. They were very good! :9

  • Ooooh Kaayyyy!!! Did anybody else think that 976-Cinderella commercial was a little racy for kids? Hell, I got turned on towards the end.

  • Call Cinderella?? What the ffffffffffuck?!?!?

  • omg EXPLORERS I love that movie!!!

  • oh yeah, they're playing "video" games. lol.

  • Pop Tarts..stille at those from time to time! lol My boys do too... :-)

  • the trix contest was for nothing..............arghhhhhhhhhhhh, captain power video tapes, i dont believe it, believe it!

  • fruit wrinkels? Wow little fruity old people yum! lmao!

  • Call Cinderella... LOL. I think at night she ran a different kind of 976 number!

Fabulous commercials, I remember a lot of them, thanks.

  • The power of the future is in your hands lol, yea video tapes the way of the future.

  • OMG I miss "Cinamon!....Toast Crunch!" Love commercial. Brings back so many memories early mornings as a kid.

  • fruit wrinkles were my favorite! miss them...

  • The cheesiest one to date Mike (I'm going through 1-50 on your 80's vids).

    - I'm curious on who actually bothered to call the 976 number.

    - So is Fruit Corners now Betty Crocker or did they combine or what?

    - Just give the rabbit some damn cereal.

    - Damn has that Pop Tarts logo changed.

  • remember when you only got 6 poptarts in a box?

  • When did they start putting frosting on the poptarts?

  • I forgot about fruit wrinkles...what a disgusting name.

  • what the hell is with all those 976 numbers? who in their right mind would let their kids call and hear those LAME stories for 2 bucks a pop?

  • my cousin had captain power and i wanted it SO bad

  • ok first kind of ironic to have tv spots for a movie about aliens who watch T.V., i.e. Explorers, second in your info you talk about strange stuffed animals, well lets not forget the popells, yes lets teach our children to turn animals inside out , lol. sick and twisted, I loved em lol.

  • It would so make my day if Kool Aid man came smashing like a freight train through my wall! "OH, YEAH!" = )

  • I used to have Dino Riders and Captain Power toys!!

  • wtf is with the cinderella sex chat line?

  • haha....I love how snickers tries to say they were good for you...LOL

  • @Libitina72

They are good for you if you're burnin' 5000 calories a day exercising.

  • I am soooo addicted to these 80s commercials..THANK YOU!!!

  • yeah they had some appeal and they certainly hold a Legacy. Some cosyness as well compared at the shit today. It was so simple and more natural.

  • I agree !!

  • Oh God, what memories!!! Fruit Wrinkles! Pudding Roll-Ups!! Dino-Riders! I remember them all!! LOL! Can you even still buy Trix in Canada?? Every grocery store I go to, doesn't seem to carry them anymore.

  • i think they are gone and its pretty damn heartbreaking

  • No offense but... WAS THE TRIX COMPANY POOR OR WHERE THEY JUST CHEAPSKATES? SERIOUSLY 4 MARKERS?

  • The Fred Savage comment on the video is a little snarky, LOL

  • Hey, it's a small price to pay if it stops even a few idiots from posting "OMG Fred Savage LOL!!1"

  • Sweet! We had Captain Power tapes and planes!

  • four free markers!!???!!!! omfg!!!

  • The commercial for Fruit Roll-Ups & Fruit Wrinkles (which they don't make them anymore) has stop motion animation, kinda like the main titles to the 1961 original "The Parent Trap", sort of like X Atencio, Bill Justice did in stop motion. This one was done in clay-mation.

  • Also reminiscent of the animation of the Penny cartoons that aired with Pee Wee's Playhouse. I wonder if the same studio made them?

  • What happened to the two younger chefs? It seems they narrowed it down to just the older guy. I think they even got rid of him since then. I could be wrong.

Maybe it's because it was considered to close to Snap, Crackel and Pop. You know, 3 characters.

  • 7:56 lol

  • As for the General Mills cereals like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Trix, Lucky Charms and Cheerios, this was long before General Mills started to put "Whole Grain" in all of the cereals including these which are all contains whole grain to reduced the risk of health disease. Cheerios has low sodium to prevent heart disease. And it's got lots of healthy choices to start with. It is more than fiber.

  • the older kif from the "captain power" commerical is the actor Chris Young alot of the older people will remember him as the young pre-frosh from the movie "PCU" with Jeremy Piven, John Favreau, and David Spade

  • That's who he is. I knew I recognized him, but I couldn't place him. PCU rules...love that movie. "Hey Hey! Ho Ho! This penis party's got to go!"

  • hahahahahaaaa man that movie was great!

    balls n' shaft mauwhahhaa

  • Can you blow me where the pampers is?

  • hahahhahahaaaaaaaa

can you SHOW ME...WHERE THE CAMPUSSSSSS IS!!

  • i love the first one

  • EXPLORERS! Oh, my fucking GAWD, I love that movie so much! You have no idea!

  • Trix Commercials = Racism metaphors.

  • These are great! I was in the same elementary school as the blonde boy in the fruity marshmallow krispies commercial. And it was great to hear the TV44 voiceover guy after all these years. Thanks for posting these. :)

  • nobody believes me when i tell them there were 3 bakers in the toast crunch commercials but now i can prove them wrong once and for all!!! muwahahaha!!!!
