  • Man these lines need some kind of transcribing. Keep real music life. Thanks for posting.

  • Was that Jack Wilkins on the double Town Hall concerts with Buzzy Pizzarelli and George Barnes among others. I bought that record in the late 60s. Can it be this guys been improvising on the guitar that long?

  • Magnifique !

  • Now how come I couldn't have folks like this living around my neighborhood?...

There is NO jazz guitar in my town!!!... So, you guys remember that when you think YOU'RE having a bad day!! (LOL).... This is so neat!!!...

  • Jack, never thought it was possible but you are playing better than ever with more Body & tons of Soul you are scary.

    Ann & Will

  • Thanks!!

  • What song are they playing?

  • Stablemates

  • Great harmonic interplay!

  • BTW - if you dig this clip, you can purchase the whole concert of this video from Mike's Masterclasses.

  • If you're in NYC on Jan 19, 2010 come by and hear us live at Bella Luna on the Upper West Side!

  • Hermosa música, excelente !!

  • Great playing!

  • man you gotta love that counterpoint! Beautiful music! : )

  • They should marry.....

  • itd be sick to have kurt and sheryl play duo sometime

  • I really love this duo!!!!!!

  • sheryl kind of reminds me of kurt. great player, cool ideas. jack, what can you say, i feel like making a big bonfire with my guitars!

  • You're obviously having great fun - great players too, keep it coming! Greetings from Lisbon.

  • Way to hang Sheryl!

  • Whats the name of the tune? they are just great!! :)

  • The tune's name is called Stablemates by Benny Golson. I think it refers to fellow members of Woody Herman's Herd when Benny was playing with him, but don't quote me. I'll search the internet and see what I can find out. The first time I heard it was on Miles Davis New Quintet, the first Miles record with Coltrane. Miles plays it much slower and laid back.

  • I wanna throw the guitar in the dumpster but I'll resist the urge and practice more. Jack is unreal

  • Move over Billy Bean and John Pisano!

  • You Must Be Joking!!!

  • It was a light hearted comparison. I adore the records Bean and Pisano made together but Jack and Sheryl are no slouches either.

  • no problem, I would agree with your comment, they are certainly no slouches, and as I have been lucky enough to meet Jack on a few occasions I can only say that not only is he a great Player,he is also one of the nicest guys you could meet. regretfully I have never met the very talented Sheryl

  • I've only met Sheryl very briefly but she comes across as a very nice person (as is made obvious by this clip). She's also a wonderful player and a fine composer. I had a chance about 15 years ago to have dinner and a short jam with Jack and he is a legend. Maybe your initial comment was not aimed at mine but rather the uncanny interplay and virtuosity displayed by these two greats.

  • If nations communicated like my friends Jack and Sheryl , the world would be at peace foever. Bravo e Brava !!

  • Such great musicians. Great to see how much they are having a good musical conversation.

  • very cool
