I begin to think he was superior to Bach : no one like him, in his time, mastered technical and emotionel impact of the symphonic orchester. He is never boring, the themes, rather than coming from nowhere, are often announced by motives played by a smaller group, and go somewhere else which appears to be quite relevant for what comes after (often a climax), etc.
OTH, many baroque composers collegues of Bach wrote sublime pieces (concertos, oratorios, masses).
@AlainNaigeon I do love classical music! Within this "classical music", I do think that Beethoven was and will be "galactically insuperable"...! This is a romantic composer who wrote directly to GOD!

@awlombana Merci bien pour avoir repondu a mon e-mail. Je m'excuse des mots que j'ai ecrit. Merci. Mon francais devient de plus en plus "tordu", car je ne le parle plus avec personne.
@numag1 I'm with you! MOST "music" on radio/media in general is utter GARBAGE! Easy Listening? CRAPOLA! How dare they call "rap" music? It's OFFENSIVE NOISE! Rap "artists"? C'mon -- the Musicians you see here are TRUE ARTISTS!! My opinion folks -- like it or lump it!
@bluengreen7 I should have watched it to the end of the fourth movement video. It's the Concertgebouw. But, in any case, I knew it couldn't be the Vienna Philharmonic---this orchestra has women in it, and at the time this was made, I'm pretty sure this "tradition" was still being followed.
@awlombana I haven't read all comments, what follows is written to help you - your French is quite understandable !
foutoir might mean something like mess ; the verb "foutre" is an inappropriate one for fuck or ejaculate, but is often used (inapropriately) to mean confusion or flame, etc.
This said, we have all read much worse things on the net, and you will be forgiven :-)
@anadini I like more the Karajan's version, but this of Kleiber not is bad. The 2nd movement of this Simphony contains the most beautiful melody that one could heard. Forgive my bad English, but I'm Argentine an my daily language is the Castilian (Spanish of South América). Cheers.
We will miss this FRIEND of BEETHOVEN for a looooong time! We went to one of performances in New York and I cannot forget the peace and basolut harmony of his conducting. Bravo, Conductor Kleiber! We will miss you. You were THE BEST!!!!!
My favorite part is at 6:04ff, where Kleiber just stands back for a moment and looks at the players, in a state of near euphoria, as if: "listen to what you've done!"
Maybe...I haven´t any doubt that Beethovenwas one of the most important genius of Europe at that moment, but I think that we mustn't say that he was the best philosopher...Excellent genius have lived in the History of the world, and yes, some of them were musicians, and yes, one of them was Beethoven.
if i'm not mistaken, this is the Concertgebouw Orkest of Amsterdam performing at the Concertgebouw. what a fantastic group they are...right up there with the WPO...

Bach gave us God's word, Motzart gave us God's laughter, Beethoven gave us God's fire, and God gave us music that we might speak without words.
A quote from a German opera house.
