I have a Optima Rep Top in a 1999 Ford F-150 & It's been 3 years and still going strong. Before I got this Red Top Optima battery I was using the Everstarts from Walmart & going through one every year. So for me this is the best battery I have ever had. The OEM lasted 4 years I believe. I got the Red Top Optima in New Mexico, then I have used that battery in Oregon, Idaho, & Wisconsin with no problems.....
I use my car daily, and park it in a garage, and I also have a Griots battery manager for times I am out of town. I have no aftermarket electronics besides a gps.
I just got 1.3 years out of my Redtop. Sales guy didn't seemed shocked when I told him either. My factory battery got 5 years!
My cheap bargain auto parts store, wet cell battery is 8 years old and counting. I just make sure it doesn't drop below a certain voltage (below 12.7 volts). Whenever my battery decides to die, I want to replace it with a optima yellow top or blue top deep cycle agm battery. I'm thinking about upgrading the lighting with some aftermarket fog lights and maybe a small stereo upgrade. I really like agm, my old 5 ah agm battery for a portable leaf blower (12 volt) still charges after 13 years!
