  • can you buy this on the internet? and do they mail to america? i want one!

  • @juki0h google "buy opinel No.13" maybe there are some offers..it´s a real rare knife.Good luck,friend!

  • Damn, now I want one of those too. Youtube makes my money dissapear sometimes. Great vid again, thanks.

  • bist du deutscher?

  • @nlmaster98 Nee, Schwarzwälder! ;)

  • Thank you good Sir for the review. I was wondering about the Opinel 13 and now I understand what it looks like and what it can do. To my eye it seems a cross between a machette (bush knife) and a bayonette. I'm going to check if they are imported into Australia because that looks like a handy tool to leave in my camper trailer for general purpose duties like firewood etc.

  • that is not no 13... i have no 12 an is much smaller ...you are crazy that is a sword :)))

  • It is a sword

  • i wonder how u still have 10 finger's

  • Very nice review ! I love my Opinels and it is a shame that the no.13 is not legal in Holland. Anyway, one small tip. Rotate the Virobloc the other way !! I've seen lock failure with heavy duty use by turning the lock that way. Bye turning it the other way there is more metal of the lock to support it.

  • That's the biggest folding knife I've ever seen! I have an Opinel no. 8 with a stainless steel blade and olive wood handle. I consider it a decent pocket knife, at best. Certainly a light duty knife. It doesn't seem very tough to me. It needed sharpening right out of the mailing envelope. All that said, I plan on buying several more Opinels because I dig the old fashioned vibe, and the wood handles. Also, they are priced very fair and imported from France. They're unique in this day and age.

  • What region are you from?

  • shaking the blade is fixed or

  • It's not ganz through ;)

  • Fantastic Review! Thanks for the sharing...My Nº9 looks like a Kids folder next to that one ;)

  • Like crocodile dundee said "now that's a knife"

  • why people always hit live trees....go hit dead one omfg

  • DId you sharpen it first or is this factory edge? My No12 was very dull from the factory and I put a very sharp edge on it using a water stone.

  • Thanks for the demo. I want 2 of them!

  • this man has no grasp of basic knife safety skills. dangerous don't copy him.

  • machete does not write sms!!!:)

  • not ganz through. epic

  • @ThePanTian has not gone through ;)

  • @ThePanTian

    Yes its greatartig! ;)

  • nice review

  • That knife is just hilarious :D

  • Nice review, thanks. Now thinking about getting one.

  • You are heavili overrating the locking system sir. IMHO the locking was working to its very limits in your video,.... you were using it for like 5 minutes and it can be clearly seen, that the outer metal plate was already splitting small parts from the wooden handle. Opinels are indeed a great knives but when you need a machete or an axe you should simply get a machete or an axe :)

  • nice review dude. thanks.

  • Nice review ghost. Thanks for the time to show the capabilities of this knife. Im in southern bavaria woul dyou know where I might get opinel's around here? Something a lot smaller LOL

  • Vive le made in france :)

  • Very nice test end evaluation. Congratulations!

  • great vid!!!

  • what a beast

  • Opinel has always been a classic favourite of mine.

    Thanks for the great review!

  • hehe. and they call it a show-knife.

very nice test on my favorite knife maker.

  • Excellent and interesting review, nice knife, will be watching your others, thanks, dfb.

  • Feines Video. Sehr beeindruckend!

  • Feines Video. Sehr beeindruckend!

  • Darf man das teil in Deutschland mitführen?

  • Nice video! I'm considering one know : )

  • Hi, I'm going to get this blade, but did anyone noticed that at 3:42 the lock seems to get loose? is it real or just my illusion? is the locking mechanism damaged due to batoning?

  • @rmokti2005

    look what he wrote above:

    >Before I started with the batoning,I forgot to tighten the virobloc, therefore it was a bit loose,

  • lol

i carry a opinel no 08 and keep it sharp enough to shave with

  • That's one grosse messer! I wonder if it comes with carbon steel blade too.

  • wow its like an folding machete. shame I dont find this knife in Norway:( Kick ass outdoor test by the way blackforestghost1 XD!

  • I can not believe that the Opinel did so amazing. I really only ever thought of the larger opinels as nothing more then collector items. Thank you for completely changing my mind.

And I just though you should know that you have amazing facial hair.

  • nice video

  • power to weight ratio pretty good coz it might look big but it aint that heavy! Could be a good defensive tool!

  • very nice bad guy :)

    how much for this?

  • Wow, now I want one.

  • So it can't cut much cardboard.

  • if u put that to ur belt it'd just pull ue jeans down :D

  • at 7:14 i was thinking that he will start cutting on of those trees ;)

  • good review, great knife, if you like large folders that are good for the outdoors i recomend you check out the cold steel rajah II. i dont think its quite as big as the opinel 13 but the blade is thicker and it too has a very strong lock. id love to see you do a side by side outdoor test of the two.

  • My son (he's 6) said, "Daddy, is that knife really big or is that man really tiny?" LOL!

    B

  • @AmericanBushman1 LOL ! I am 1,91m "tiny"! ;-)) and "only" 106kg weight.

    So,I am only a little German ;-)

  • @blackforestghost1 i love the finch singing int he background lol.

  • @blackforestghost1 I know a little german ...

  • @AmericanBushman1 -- LOL!!!!!

  • Great video.

The Opinel 13 is a brute!

I carry a No. 8 every day and now it seems so...small.

  • @AmericanBushman1 Yes-it`s a kind of a beast,this Opinel;-) I am allready curious,when they will create a No.14 lol!

  • @blackforestghost1

That would be the first folding sword on the market.

  • can you cut branches with it?

  • hey wait... 3:40 It looks like the first few wacks caused the lock to bend. What's up with that?

  • @stealthbeast Before I started with the batoning,I forgot to tighten the virobloc, therefore it was a bit loose, when I batoned the first woodpiece. You can see in the video a bit later, that I noticed that and fixed it by turning the virobloc-lock.Was my human mistake - not the fault of the knife -sorry! ;-)

  • wow!

  • Great review as always. Actually I thought it would be some what of a novelty being less effective and more for show. Once again I am wrong, but only because you have taken the time to show what this knife is capable of. Thanks a lot for the review!

  • Thanks for another GREAT video! Pretty awesome knife, and a good substitute for a thin golok. Does Opinel make one with a slightly thicker blade???

  • That one is really kool BFG :o) Massive for a folder...hehe! Good job! "LIKE"

  • That folder is a beast! In a fight it may just chop off someones hand or worse, lol

  • @knifeguyfromdenmark2 You`re damn right! ;-) One hit right...one hit left...and your opponent could loose his head!...or worse,lol ! ;-))

  • great test! I'm surprised it did so well, sometimes the simplest is the best.

  • @Monger4142 Thanks,friend!
