Classic Genius. THAT's the OLD SKOOL. The way Black people are supposed to deal with white media ("MYFB & don't ask me no shit bout my wife"). This is the way they answer us, in law, social services, in education & business- but we we do it we're cracked out or crazy right? Yeah. Fuck that. R.I.P. King James.
A: "Yeah, I'm out on love.... Alone from night to night you find me...." (The song is "Prisoner of love.")
Q: "And what are you going to say to your fans when they ask you some questions about it?"
A: "I'm gonna say I feel good... papa's got a brand new bag... this is a man's world." [Meaning: I'm great, I still got my swerve... this world was made for men!]
Yeah, everybody loves to think he's totally out of it. He was too. But that's not the point. The point is that this man was a music man and, although out of it, too smart to give a flying shit if the tabloid gossip bullshit press media wanted to portray him how they wanted too. He wasn't gonna play along with rubbish like that. Do you think James Brown was interested in talking to some patronizing reporter about issues that was really none of their business. No, is the answer.
A friendly word of advice for all the would-be "Godfather's of Soul" out there:
Never do a TV interview when your mouth is full of 'funk'.
But if you absolutely must, just be sure that you go on immediately following Andrew Dice Clay. F-bomb laden rants on live TV will ALWAYS beat out the 'Crack-Mouth' interview.
James was as human as anyone possibly can be. Many Americans that are disappointed about some decisions that they may have made in their lives, act just like that. We identify with his way of expressing his bitter feelings. He was a sad artists that got numbed to ease out of his poor past life.He may well be one of the most magical dancing man ahead of his era with that high & deep from the soul voice performance. We will ever see another "James" on this planet
he was a hero WAY before he died. hes a fucking legend. music would not be the way it is today without him. we all have our down moments, but james was the hardest working cat in the world. 300 shows a year! thats fucking ridicoulas. and each and everyone of them he danced his ass off. I SALUTE YOU JAMES! rest in peace!
