  • Oddly enough, I first came across this song in the movie "Soldier", and just worked so well as a stunning counter point to the violence that book ends the entire movie. And now today I listen to it whilst writing or relaxing.

Kind of funny how that worked out.

  • i love u Loreena adopt me i could cook for you and listen to ya for hours and hours

  • this 11 morons dont have ears to hear this beauty!!!

  • Love this song. My dad used to listen the shit out of it. It's got this kind of melancholic, eerie quality about it that reminds me of a ghost story I used to hear about as a kid.

  • take the 12 disciples, for instance...thats a clear reference to the 12 gods of olympus..or the halo around the saint' heads...influenced by the egyptian sun disc around the the phataohs' heads...and so much more...

  • Yes, she is Queen of singers.

  • The Caucasus is one of the most beautiful parts of the Earth ...

  • I am an Italian Roman Catholic and yes most of our holidays are based on roman pagan beliefs even the most important ones like Ferragosto on the 15th of August.

  • I am an Italian Roman Catholic and yes most of our hilidays are based on pagan customs even the most important ones like Ferragosto on the 15th of August.

  • Изумительно!!!!

  • I love Lorena a lot. When I listen her music, I always feel better. She have extremely good artifice..I guess, she is queen of singers

  • Greetings from Croatia, and thank You for this great song... as all of her songs are.

Would be once_in_a _lifetime_experience to listen her performance live :(

    P.S.

Check out few latest videos on my channel, they are not world music,

    but definitely worthy of watching/listening.

  • This is the most beautiful song...one of her best, amazing melody and pace...you can feel as though you are riding through the dark Caucasus on horseback...seeing the dim twinkle of campfires...amazing. I am a fan of all music...but this song connects with me deeply...I don't know why, but it does.

  • @jgreen913 Well, it may feel like doing Caucasus on the horseback but the music doesn't smash your balls against the saddle pommel every second move. Loreena's not that painful, that's why I love'er music.

  • Happy St. Paddy's Day everyone.

  • This song is good. From Georgia(CAUCASUS)

  • super

  • its so beautiful I can't even pick the right aim of words for it .... I fall so fast asleep listening to this song in the car my sister even noticed XD

  • @RockAngel7878 Now, is falling asleep to something a compliment or not? xD

  • @Mtanic yes ! it means it's relaxing =)

  • Thank you Loreena from Caucasus!

  • I'm a complete and utter atheist, but I take from the bible the same way I do from other books, if it makes a good point I'll believe in it and encourage it and believe in it.

  • she is an Angel

  • I had a Great Aunt - I never met her - whose mindset was that if you didn't pray every day and go to church several times a week then you were evil and depraved and would go to hell. I mean imagine believing in a God like that! But then again, she was just a victim of the Hell & Brimstone Brigade that controlled religion and religious beliefs for hundreds and hundreds of years. I don't believe in God - or believe that there IS a God - but I aspire to the doctrine of 'Do unto others..........'.

  • This song sets me at ease. I can rest easy listening to her melodic voice. It fills me with confidence and happiness. I hope that doesn't sound weird. She is so wondrous, I feel a connection to her music, and I see colors when she sings.

  • I don't understand why we can't enjoy something beautiful without thinking about heaven or hell. I don't think God gave us this life with this beautiful surrounding so we can worry every time we like something if we make him happy or not. We all have the same god we may call him differently but it is all the same because we all have a desire of peace and happiness to all

  • Thank you for posting these. cheers

  • I view these comments and see how still culture is the biggest threat to mankind.

Felicitaciones a Enya y a Lorenna Mckennitt...

  • @ENYADUBLIN claro que si...hay algo muy delicado, feminino, y tan fuerte in su voz de Loreena. Su musica es la cuenta de los ancianos del norte. Nadie se puede tocar a su calidad de ella... her voice is like spirits on the wind...totally awesome!!!

  • first heard it in 'Soldier' and just happened to stumble across it here. amazing song, really relaxing

  • i ve never heard sth like this,in my life....she is amazing!!!!

  • Beliefs*

  • magnificent song.it makes your imagination fly away into the world of dreams!!!

  • Well good song. And I hope real caucasians will some day become worthy of it.

Just to achieve something more to respect except the power of knife and gun

  • @RabitHead well you shouldn't get any hate mail. What you have written is a printed fact. If people have a problem, just know that nothing developes in a vaccum, everything has a starting point or base. Take the best and leave the rest.

  • Wow, a damn impressive song. This woman makes wonderfull music.

  • Through the night...

where is john to light my candle

  • This Song takes me to places Ancient and Visionary, full of scent and color, licks of wind and passion that drives a trusted horse towards inevitable destination and fate...

  • The thing is people can tell you your going to hell because you don't go to church but that doesn't make it so. But it does say in the Bible those who judge others shall be judged, the lord loves his time with you just make time for him thats convinient for the both of you.

  • I heard this in Soldier movie

  • why can't it ever just be about the beauty of the music?

  • The church is there to support the masses, but the translation is up to us all. To me there is the masses, the ignorant, and the meek. Each at their own stage of progression and each serve their own end within the community.

  • Why do people have arguments about religion on Youtube? Seriously...just listen to the music...lol

  • amazing song

  • who gives a fuck? just listen to the song you cunts.

  • @chiddy55

    Well said!!

  • I heard this in Soldier movie, with Kurt Russell

  • melodia ... este o parte din Rai!

  • I'm a metalhead, but you know this song is really great. Its what made got interested in her music. Her voice is Magnificent.

  • I love this song. I've added it to a Lord of the Rings Online gameplay video. Loreena McKennitt and LOTRO are a perfect fit.

  • The 9 that dislike this are unable to appreciate the sophistication of this type of music. God bless you.

  • This would be great music for a movie scene wherein the hero rides *ahem* through the night *ahem* to rescue his woman.

  • I can feel myself on the steed. The night is long, yet repleate with every star God ever concieved. The air is cool to my face and I feel te temptation to stop and take it in, but must ride on..through the night...

  • thks my friend...xxxxx

  • it just makes me cry.......... i will always remember!

  • After hours of Rock something relaxing like Loreena McKennitt ^_^

I love this woman, truly u_u

  • Pretty nice... i love Loreena and her music...

  • some of her songs NEED to be in Paulo Coelho's "The Alchemist" movie when it comes out

  • couldn't agree more - Christian and pagan beliefs are not so different from each other. Both are as beautiful as they are because they have influenced and been influenced by each other.

  • i am a jesus loving pagan. and proud

  • @alchemicflames Glad to know I'm not the only one! :)

  • I truly feel like I'm riding a proud Arabian through the Caucasus Mountains on a journey when I hear this song :))

  • I may get some "hate" mail for this, but the majority of Christian holidays and holy days are based on ancient pagan beliefs. Is there a law that says you must be one or the other? I know quite a few people who have combined their pagan beliefs with their Christian beliefs and the only people who seem to have a problem with it are the religious right fanatics who believe that I am going to hell because I don't go to church every time the door is open. It's nice to hear both beliefs combined.

  • @RabitHead you know when the Christians came to the celtic lands to convert the pagans to christianity, the celts did convert to some degree. they still kept thier pagan beliefs. Just look at the celtic cross. The circle is a symbol of the pagan Sun God. The cross is the christian symbol. So both religions combined. true story about the celtic cross.

  • @RabitHead "cauldron and cross" heh.. I like it. Christian belief does have some very good values, for interaction between humans, and pagan religions teach about the bond with nature.

  • @RabitHead Dont be such an uneducated moron. Scripture is very clear and does not mince words. Christ is the only way to salvation. no ifs, ands or but's. Stop trying to have your cake and eat it too. If you want to be a pagan then be one. If you want to be a Christian than be one. But dont try to combine the two because they are not compatible in any way.

  • @AegeanKing Oh really?

  • @AegeanKing Oh really? study Mithras

  • @AegeanKing Hey, genius...where did you get that idea? Christianity takes so many cues from paganism that it's innumberable....You actually can't separate the two.

  • @FutaSarah5000 - Yea Christianity did not develop in a vacuum. But this doesn't mean that everything is cultural (or Pagan as you use it). God, Jesus Christ, salvation for all through faith, are universal elements, that much of your paganism denies.

  • @FutaSarah5000 Oh really? like what?

  • @AegeanKing Christmas: the most significant day of the year for most. Enough said. Originally wasn't even Christian.

  • @FutaSarah5000 Christmas?? What about it? Celebrating the Birth of the messiah is not Christian?? No, you have not said enough to justify your absurd claims. Are you referencing the date?? ill have you have know that Eastern Orthodox Christians who number almost 500 million celebrate Christmas on January 6th. And please do not bring up Easter because I will destroy your argument.

  • @AegeanKing Dude fuck off, I'm not here for a troll war, or to argue with you about religion. I just stated what I think, and besides that I'm here for the amazing music. You wanna be Professor Troll, go someplace else.

  • @FutaSarah5000 Fuck off? You responded to my message first motherfucker. Dont throw a fucking hissy fit just because you cant back up your absurd accusations. If anybody is a troll its you with your provocative bombastic statements. I suggest you quit drinking the secular kool-aide and actually read the real history of Christianity instead of regurgitating shit you read on the internet. Good day.

  • @AegeanKing wohooooooooooo i can't believe you pulled futah star....heehee

  • @AegeanKing Ugh...just email me futahappy@yahoo.com if you wanna keep going. I'm only here for the beautiful music, and I really don't feel like trying to listen to a man state facts on face value when all he's really trying to do is troll me.

  • @AegeanKing Christmas is not originally a christian holiday. Ever heard of winter solstice ? Some food of thought from wikipedia about winter solstice: "Worldwide, interpretation of the event has varied from culture to culture, but most cultures have held a recognition of rebirth, involving holidays, festivals, gatherings, rituals or other celebrations around that time." and "In 46 BCE, Julius Caesar in his Julian calendar established December 25 as the date of the winter solstice of Europe "

  • @RistoReipas88 You are completely missing the point. It is completely natural that people who adopt a new religion, replace one celebration with another. The idea of celebrating the Birth of Christ IS a Christian idea. Also, Christians have not always celebrated the date on December 25th. Eastern Orthodox Christians who number almost 500 million celebrate Christmas on January 6th. So, your statement only applies to Christianity in western Europe.

  • @RabitHead I could fill up a few messages just talking about early Christianity because studying history is one of my interests. But let's just sum it up to this: It's true that SOME of the Christian holidays were originally planned to fall on the same date as a few of the original pagan feast days. This wasn't done in malice though, back in the beginnings of Christianity they were also trying to blend a little with the already established religions in an attempt for unity. :)

  • @RabitHead your an individual with your own beliefs i wont hate you for that..good one

  • @RabitHead You are absolutely right.Religion is a part of culture and all our cultures are combined and mixed nowadays. From the Greek civilization to the Celtic tradition we have combined our beliefs and definately the world as we know it today wouldnt exist without them.

  • @RabitHead Well you should know that PAGANS based their belief's on Christ Himself so as to hijack us all.regardless of general ignorance due to subversion and deception, and Jesus said follow Him and no men so you seriously have mishandled Christianity and truth period and do so with a predisposed perception of hate mail which makes one wonder why and still regardless you are so wrong that you you should find trouble explaing things like the tree and candles and windows and such,Be Loved <3

  • @aesthetictripp Paganism has been around long before Christ, and yes it would seem so that many things in the christian religion have been adopted from else where. You are using the word pagan like they all follow the same believes "PAGANS based their belief's on Christ Himself ". You my friend "seriously have mishandled" paganism.

  • @SolvingLife You can link all paganism to Lucifer,so yeah they do have a common thread, not every Christian is ignorant regarding occult knowledge and Jesus, who is God btw and Love Himself, was in existence and known of before the world began,at best you can tie yourself only back to the flood which is well answered as In Noah's ark is optimal in design alone,vs the Gilgamesh twist which wouldn't even float, even quantum physics prove that God made Light first before even the sun.

  • @aesthetictripp , we are all divine , Christ said so, he was as human as we are , only enlightened and he lived a life as we all should . Religion is an hypocrisy, the proof is all around us . There is no difference between a Muslim Jihadist or a Christian fundamentalist who agrees with/condones the death penalty. Think outside the box, accept what we have accomplished in Cosmology and the great Prophets words , we are all one ! Love Thy Neighbor.

  • @sergiomsd We are not all divine, your sin in fact....along with the fact you have sinned,at least once proves you severely wrong. Christianity is a relationship, not a religion. I've been a person out side the box my entire life, and no....we are not all one in every way,Love they Neighbor is true, and the Love of God is serious Love, love condoning every sin out there, only condemning that sin,not people btw.God is paradoxical and Jesus was God in the Flesh, not just a plain man,and men aren't God.

  • @SolvingLife Christ is a reincarnation on repeat, like he even dies the same way in each life. He's been around since before egypt had pyramids. Its amazing how when he got the name Christ, we all took him for granted. And when he is reborn into chaos, he will be crucified again. It seems like he's a walking cursed soul looking to get rid of his curse. I bet that Paganism is belief of Christ before he got that name

  • @RabitHead - you are right. I also think hell is a pagan belief. then I'm told I'm going there - for not believing in it. lol!

  • Hate, how th ehell woudl you get ahate, waht you said was totally rational

  • @RabitHead You are totally right - and it's more than just some holidays that are Pagan based - I'll just leave it at that. But I am someone that isn't afraid of the truth.

  • @RabitHead Jesus doesn't submit to the worlds ways, but Loves us,and isn't the ''church'' btw, understanding is key,not compromise, even the Gentiles who do the law by nature show it written on their hearts, and of it is not bowing down to false ''gods''God is Love and not hippie love, genuine Love which transcends and saves and hates sin while extending Grace midst the places of the faces of dismay, trumping self centerdness and ' the we are all one campaign, sovereign and true.

  • @RabitHead

first of all point in Christianity isnt going to church my friend. IT IS HOW YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE- pagan ideas are similiar to Christian ideas if you think about it. Im one of ppl who often go to Church and i can say for myself that im religious man. And i dont think you will go to hell if you live your life properly even if you dont believe in Jesus and God. Thats all folks :D

    PS: Loreena you are amazing

  • @RabitHead

I am a Greek Christian orthodox from Greece and yes most the Greek Christian orthodox holidays are based on ancient Greek holidays or traditions. This expands to almost all Christian Orthodox Churches because most of them are following the Greek Orthodox "protocol".

  • @RabitHead

    @RabitHead

I am a Greek Christian orthodox and yes most the Greek Christian orthodox holidays are based on ancient Greek holidays or traditions. This expands to almost all Christian Orthodox Churches because most of them are following the Greek Orthodox "protocol".

  • @RabitHead The problem is that both beliefs (Christianity and Paganism) are not mutually exclusive. And you are correct that a few Christian holidays are “corrupted” Pagan high days, most surrounding fertility or harvest celebrations, Easter being the biggest one, originally a day mint for the fertility celebration of Eostre, Goddess of the Dawn, where which rabbits, eggs, flowers, and other paralleling Easter staples.

  • @mageweave Christianity (I mean real Christianity based on its foundation: The Bible) and Paganism ARE mutually exclusive, the whole Bible says about it. True, some "Christian" holidays are based on ancient pagan beliefs and conservative christians don't celebrate them. Jesus knew no compromises, He also said He is the ONLY way and the truth... Nevertheless, let's not talk abot it here, let's just listen to this wonderful song... I can'f find words to describe its beauty...

  • @naukrarosek The Bible (and therefore the foundation of Christianity) was not written by Jesus or by God. It was written by men, all of whom had their own perceptions of their belief and interpretations of what Jesus might or might not have said. I personally believe God is much more considerate. He gave us freedom of choice, after all, and all religions are just variations of each other.

Anyway, beautiful song, beautiful imagery. Loreena is amazing~<3

  • @OokamiByakuya Of course that Bible was written by human beings, but the ones inspired by God, there are lots of proofs for that. As for their alleged 'perception and interpretation of what Jesus might or might not have said'... well, you seem not to know anything about when and in what circumstances the Bible was written , and they prove that Bible depicts what Jesus really said and did. Dan Brown and his likes know nothing on history and Jewish culture. Anyway, Loreena has an angelic voice:D

  • @naukrarosek LOL, trust me, I don't use Brown as a reference. I am not claiming some parts of the Bible aren't fact, simply that even humans inspired by God tend to twist things, deliberately or otherwise, to suit their own values and beliefs. Humans are imperfect. We are not Gods, therefore we cannot know what He would want. That is why my belief in God and Jesus is not based on the Bible, on the words of man. The Bible preaches nothing but hypocrisy and wanton bloodshed.

    Yes, she does. ;)

  • @OokamiByakuya

I agree with you on every point you mentionned. =)

  • @mageweave Not where Easter comes from. That is a fallacy.

  • @RabitHead Respect

  • stellar

  • I am serious curious with all the mystic vibes in her music reportoire, does anyone out there know for certain if she is pagan? If so, post some sort of proof.

  • @wcoffey7 She's a neopagan, she lives a life of a pagan and believes in jesus.

Proof? she sings about pagans and dancing around bonfires, and also has songs about jesus and how humans reject god and get the wrong ideas.

  • @lalouse432 And this is important because....???????????

  • @o0f0e0r0 Because someone asked?

  • @wcoffey7 Is she Christian? If not, then she is Pagan. Pagan means non-Christian, plain and simple.

  • @FutaSarah5000 - yea its new age pagan stuff. Gnosticism (new age) is known throughout all of history for attaching itself to religions and using their imagery for its own purposes.

  • @FutaSarah5000 please give me your ridiculous arguments so I can destroy them with facts. Im just waiting for it. I surely hope you dont use lame arguments about the dates for Christmas or easter because those are easily refutable. I am hoping that your arguments have something more substantive than that.

  • Why is it I always feel she captures the spirit of the Goddess in all her songs?

  • Loreena has the voice of a song angel. ♥

  • To the people who don't like this: Jump of a cliff you Douche Baggingtons!!! D:< I love this song :3

  • @VelMidreamer Why the anger?? Is it OK for someone to say "death to VelMidreamer " if you dont like, speed metal, for example ??

  • adoro a ista muller

  • @FilladelfosD,Dimitri,s'eucharisto poly,

    gia to yperocho auto tragoudi!!!

  • Wundeschönes Lied!!!

  • super
