could be Clapton's un identical twin. And I've been a Clapton fan since the 60's. I ve been listening to Corey for about 11 or 12 yr.'s. Absolutely LOVE HIM. See him Live if you ever get the chance.....you won't be dissapointed.
Wow, someone was passing out a demo of this song at Chicago Blues Fest in 1996 and I got one. Didn't know who Corey Stevens was at the time, but I really liked this song and still do!
This guy is fucking awesome. Why this guy isn't more popular in the scene I have absolutely no idea!!! He absolutely blows pretender, bullshit SRV clones away. It's cool to see someone that actually has their own thing instead of just copying SRV licks endlessly.
If you have the chance, be sure to see him. Awesome show, guitar playing and singing will blow you away. Yes, the resemblance to SRV and Clapton is there...but Corey has his own take on his music. I plan to see him again every chance I can. Super nice guy too.
all i know is i keep hearing him on bluesville , close my eyes and hear just what you guys say , clapton and stevie ray , and i love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
great track...Yeah..I agree on the SRV and Clapton sound/vocals/look...but hey....what is better than that??? Great artist...Like to see him in concert.
I just saw him last night. Got a chance to talk to him for about an hour. Got a pick and autographs from him too! VERY nice guy!!! Even gave me his personal email address. See him...you won't regret it!
I heard this artist sometime back and was blown away with his style and talent.I feel he is one of the most underated muscians in the country and a very humble dude. A must see and hear preformer.
Corey had the look of SRV and sound of him and clapton. His record label USED that to launch him, and then told him to "change his look" after he had a following...he chose not to, and was dropped by electrica. He's on his own now...still very good!
i used to go see him when he was just starting out and his day job he was a school teacher in so calif and all he played was steve ray vaughan and i got to know him personally, he fucking rocked
Yeah, I'd read that he was a teacher. I had this CD, and I wore it out. Corey has a fantastic sound; he's a very patient player. I always loved his style, just good music you can listen to anytime.
Blue Drops of Rain was a wonderful album. The strongest tracks were always his own, not the covers he did (like Lenny). This is one of those songs that's just extremely solid. I guess I wish more people knew about him.
keven6373, why such hostility? I am possibly the world's biggest fan of Clapton since Cream days and to me Stevens captures the essence of Clapton (on some songs almost identical in voice and guitar style.) And to me that's a good thing. So, relax and enjoy the music.
Still one of best DAMN shows I have ever seen, at The Newport music hall in Columbus Ohio. Man o Man never will I forget that one. Thanks Corey you R DA MAN !!!!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks he sounds like a mix between SRV and clapton. Big fan! Since '95... Been gone too long was the song...

@guitarthroat He has more of Claton vibe to me than SRV. I got to play and hang out with Corey about 12 years ago.
Pjaynes781 5 months ago
i gotta agree, his guitar tone is more like Robert Cray. Smooth instead of the SRV Snakebite.
