  • wow. why is this band not world renown.

  • SHE IS AWESOME

  • Comment removed

  • Fucking Commercial!!!

  • The guitarist reproduced Paul Burlison's distortion. I'm impressed! Good singer too.

  • @coy0te9 The guitarist is her husband, Darrel Higham. He's probably the best rockabilly guitarist on the U.K. scene, and played the scene until he took a back seat to back his wife. An absolutely brilliant guitarist by anyone's standards. Check out him out on YouTube.

  • Imelda May retient suffisamment l'attention pour donner très envie de la voir sur scène : avec un son live un peu plus musclé, nul doute que sa voix de velours doit donner de jolis frissons Rockabillien!!!!!!!!!!!!superbe!la classe!

  • This song is an old jump blues tune. It was written and performed by Tiny Bradshaw. It was covered by Johnny Burnette several years later.

  • Sweet little rock'n'roll woman .!

  • its always the guitar player isnt it!

  • And so now after almost 35 years after first hearing the ass kicking version by Aerosmith, I learn it was first done by someone named Johnny Burnett (is that who she said, Burnett?). Cool!!! Now I have to find his version and listen to it.

  • @SarahRachel59 Tiny Bradshaw.

  • How often does this happen???????Gorgeous lady, the best voice ever ' top of the class' band. I remember the bass player 'Slap Happy' from when he was with 'King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys'! gonna see her in April in Hull

  • is she married?

  • @thendara69 Yes, I think to her guitar player.....

  • hotter than hot great women seen her four times amazing

  • Everything tottally live, thank god for real music.

  • Just got turned on to her tonight. Amazing!

  • I was already in love and then I noticed she was wearing a Munsters T-shirt. She has to be the coolest woman alive

  • Maybe my favorite version !! Smoking !!

Who are the fantastic musicians ? Awesome guitar solo !

  • @apoxisprod The guitarist is Darryl Higham, her husband.

  • @musiclover9361 DARREL NOT DARRYL

  • @The170460 Quite right! Thanks for putting me right. How could Darrel look like a woman? :-)

  • Whew.

  • Slap Happy slappin' that dog house bass......get along!!!!

  • Monstrueuse " réf au tee shirt d'Imelda " belle interprétation vocale et musicale du rock and roll trio de J.Burnette. Bravo

  • Off the wall, all the way.

  • I had the honour to see her live this year at Hyde Park, I was about 10 meters from stage, raining as pretty much always does in London. But that was one of the best evenings I've ever had.

  • Wow, my singer told me about this chick...man she swings!

  • Holy Shit!!!! Tooo! She is too much!! What a smokin' track.

  • I started brushing my teeth when this started and forgot about the toothbrush sticking out of my mouth 2 minutes and 47 seconds ago. This rocks.

  • Why is Darrel Higham hiding in this footage?

  • She was fabulous on Jules' New Year's Eve programme too. As you say, Memphis lives.

  • Imelda, one thing. Please don't do drugs too much, and make all producers go and fuck themselves...

  • @nikstefonov she's clean and vegetarian

  • she may be good but you still cant beat johnny burnettes version

  • F**king amazing, i just adore this woman!

  • @TrueBlueEG8 - I'm with you fella.. she's one foxy mumma...

  • Led Zeppelin (and prior The Yardsbirds) did this in 1968-1970/1980 - it was a great blues rock track!

  • Thanks for the video, awsome,A fitting tribute to Johnny Burnette.

  • shes so dam hot too !

  • yeah , nice n rockin well done

  • What a voice! What a personality!

  • Aerosmith did this tune back in 74 or 75 and was a great version. Imelda and gang do a super job here

  • 10 puntos...!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the private comment from "King...". My research online turned up the same information. FWIW, it was my good fortune to see the Yardbirds 'back in the day' at a small liberal arts school in Ohio. At the time they were relatively unknown in that area. As I recall only about 100 people (or so) showed up to see them! Hard to picture now.

  • LZ perhaps... Not at all sure about that. But I did hear the Yardbirds do this song many years ago.

As to comparing Imelda May with Amy Winehouse - that's a complete waste of time, their styles are decidely different.

Anyway... this is a great cover.

  • das soll Jazz sein? Für mich ist es Rock'n'Roll. Geile Stimme!

  • Y dose she Talk like that?

  • @dll0990 because she is Irish - from Dublin

  • @MissMayhem291296 I thought her Name was Sophie

  • Holy shit indeed Korinalover 1......superb rendition of this JB track.

  • Totally agree with MrDeadlighthouse

  • nice johnny b it is a tiny bradshaw song!

  • very nice

  • Sorry Imelda but this song is by Tiny Bradshaw! Either way, it rocks!

  • @anonymouslolxD Tiny Bradshaw first recorded the song as a jazz number.. The above presentation is actually a cover of the Rock and Roll Trio/Johnny Burnette rock version (1056)..Also covered by the "Yardbirds", "Aerosmith and many, many others..

  • @dburlison1 Yeah but what I mean is the guy who wrote it is TB. And this song is the first song Led Zeppelin plaed together :)

  • @anonymouslolxD what???? I've got everything Zeppelin and I don't remember them playing this

  • @j1001s27sw They never recorded a studio version, but there's live versions on YouTube. I love Zep but you just can't beat the orginal version of this song.

  • I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Get along...better be on yer way...get along...this chick kicks ass on the vocals but Darrel rips that guitar....wooooooo

  • This cut is all about the studio musicians. May adds nothing.

  • @tomthefunky yes an us "c*nts "gave you back your rock n roll music in the 60`s when u were listening to bobby Darrin.

    Ps

Imelda Mays is Irish not British.

  • Comment removed

  • @tomthefunky Another imbecilic yank, who can't see any further back than 1776. If if wasn't for those 'English faggots' on the Mayflower then who the fuck would have founded your nation? New York City? Ever thought where the city it's named after is situated?? A cunt who gets his ideas of the English from those stupid Hollywood films. Don't tell me, you 'saved our asses during the war'. Yeah right. Still, the Vietnamese peasants did a good job of stomping yours. Fucking shit stabbing yank.

  • @TheMG63: Yeah, well at least we can still defend ourselves. Good luck against those Argentinians when they decide to take back The Falklands. Do you even have a Navy anymore? Congradulations England, you've successfully nuetered yourselves!!

  • she's just amazing! just glad she surfaced at last so we can enjoy her music!

  • Hope she takes care of her voice box - she works it in ways I have not heard before. It sounds great, but must be painful at the end of the night.

  • @pbyardh check out some wanda jackson she used to screech a lot when she sang her rockabilly

  • they are gorgeus, i'm so in love with them :D

  • why do people do this comparison think .why dont they just listen .great song great artist and thank goodness we are producing young folk who can take our musical past and produce great music . May and Higham ... great stuff

  • Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran and even poor old Elvis CANNOT stop tapping their feet from their graves - this is real stuff. SUPERB!

  • God Damn that Woman can sing her ass off.

  • Really bloody good - love it !

  • If you go see Imelda, she wants you to take photo's but please put the little camera's down, she hates all the little lights and she wants the people behind to see the show, throw all those arms and hands holding camera's, it wrecks it for those behind, she got right mad at one guy, as she asked us to not keep filming, not about publishing rights and he just kept it up, she told him, horseshoe tavern in TO was to small for one guy to wreck it for us all, and she marked him out. proud of her.!!!

  • I'm Irish and SOO proud of her heart, heat, rocking soul. Burn it up, sister!

  • Yaaaaaa-babe...! Imelda... the female Elvis... 8-)

  • Jesus that is powerful stuff

  • HOLY SHIT!

  • Awesome! That little laugh at the end is killer. Love it!

  • ...snarl....

  • Memphis lives in that little Irish ball of fire. She is extraordinary.

  • WOW !!!!!!! Can we have more and more and more of this fantastic sound the whole band pumps out of every thing they put into their music :)))

  • her voice is veracious!

  • PURE ROCK N ROLL LOVE IT

  • Just heard her on NPR here in US. Monster talent.

  • Its like comparing wine grapes to may flowers...sorry couldn't resist...

  • @LaPeep, we are on the same page. I was saying that there is no comparison between Amy Winehouse and Imelda May. Someone had previously referred to May as 'the Irish Amy Winehouse'. You are right, it is apples and oranges. What I was praising was the rockabilly apple of May. If you take contention with my agreeing that Winehouse should maybe be referred to as the English Imelda May, you have a point. Two distinct voices, tow styles of music, two distinct talents, each worth their own weight.

  • Seems like they are not showing Daryl on purpose I can hear you Rock On Guys

  • Its actualy a Tiny rowlands number, but I LOVE the fact shes doing this music...I love it and I love her. :)

  • @metafis Fuck me ! Tiny Rowland was the head of Lonhro & - according to Ted Heath - "the unacceptable face of capitalism".

You mean Tiny Bradshaw ! I don't know whether to send this to Private Eye's Colemanballs or Dumb Britain sections !

  • @metafis

I think you mean Tiny Bradshaw who sang it in the Jump Blues style. It was the Burnette trio who sang this in the rockabilly style for the first time, and had the biggest success with it, spawning thousands of cover versions.

  • Real musicians !. What a band. Great players and a great singer. I bought the Jeff Beck Tribute to Les Paul featuring Amelda and her band. Best concert DVD I have ever bought. Recommend it to everyone who likes real music played by real musicians. Brian Setzer is on it too, doing one of the best versions of 'Twenty Flight Rock' I have ever heard.

  • @bi1iruben I guess I could go along with that!

  • Imelda & her band are so so good. Check out her gig with Jeff Beck "Rock n Roll Party. A Les Paul Mary Ford tribute awesome.

  • Wow, shes great!

  • TALENT!!!!!

  • Nagyon jó!!

  • fantastic!!

  • Tremenda !!!!!!!

  • What a fantastic girl!

  • Just saw where Imelda May is called the "Irish Amy Winehouse". Sorry, God bless and no disrespect meant to a fine talent, but this lil' kitty is miles beyond the late Ms. Winehouse, good as she was. This is IT man!

  • @MrDeadlighthouse She's a doll, she's a rockabilly filly, and best of all, she's Irish. The whole damned package there.

  • @MrDeadlighthouse I wonder if calling Ms Winehouse the "English Imelda May" sounds more accurate ?

  • @MrDeadlighthouse Sorry have to disagree bigtime. Imelda has a lovely voice but she is no Amy Winehouse.

Don't even compare the two its like apples and oranges. Have you ever heard Amys acoustic sessions for Tiscali and even the DL? Amy could write, sing and do covers so they sounded truly soulful and unique. Imelda is doing nice covers but with a straight rockabilly sound nothing new there.

  • @LaPeepp Why change perfection, who wants to hear a new way of singing this song. This is the ONLY way this song should be done.

  • @MrDeadlighthouse there is NO comparison,,,Imelda May has Talent in abundance where as Amy Winehouse didn't have any at all

  • This is music perfection. Thank you, you are a superb band. I used to work at Zildjian's, and I've seen how crappy the industry is to real talent. You cats have it going on man!

  • This is pure talent.. what a great band.. Best ever.. Love her songs- please come up to Newcastle upon Tyne

  • PLEASE...PLEASE...PLEASE...Never split up .The tightest band I have ever heard !!!

    words fail me !!!!!!

  • such a god given talent, and all the hard work to go with. Imelda, we sure hope you come back to Canada real soon. If you come to London ontario, I promise you, you will love the people hear, I missed you as you all were making your final song in Toronto. You were fun to be near, and you made everybody feel good for an evening. Please come back soon, I promise I will make them have a piano so you can do Falling in love again for me. I will even get someone to play it for you Eileen in LondonOn

  • Watched Wild Target this morning and heard her for the first time. Great sound, great voice, she is absolutly beautiful, and the band rocks. I have been listening to every song i can find on the internet. I am hooked and can't wait to get her CD's

    SSSplash...>-)-)-)Q>

  • amazing talent sounds brilliant and having fun while doing it Daryl rocks on that guitar hope she keeps on for years to come !

  • Dong it up as only an Irish girl can! What a voice, and she's gorgeous on top of that. Seeing her smiling and hearing her delighted laugh at the end of this really makes this worth watching as well as experiencing that wonderful voice!

  • Wow wow wow.....Jiving and Jitterbuggin' all over the place. Doing the Hand jive and the Strole. She have a terrific voice......very jealous xx B-)

  • i like seeing artists that show how much they enjoy playing the music they do... that is one of the many reasons why Imelda outshines most of the so called female idols of todays music... people like Imelda are the ones keeping music nowadays interesting... just wish she would get the recognition she really deserves...!!!

  • She is fun, can't wait to see her in San Francisco this week!

  • she rocksssssssssss!!!!!

  • The lady ROCKS. Just became a big fan.

  • Great song, great singer. Love the Munsters t-shirt!

  • Wow!! This Is Really Awesome!! The Train Kept A Rollin'!!

    - Big Will / The Super Blues Universe

  • I am gonna get in trouble for the things I do to the replay button...seriously did one person mis-key. Freakin' 193 thumbs up just ain't enough. Give it up for Imelda May. She straight delivers the goods...Classic American Style...WOOOO

  • always loved Aerosmith's version, but this kicked arse! Loved loved loved it!

  • This sweet sound keeps on rollin' all night long. This band has it all. Can't wait to see San Francisco show in August. Can't get enough of this band.

  • I'd love to take her down my local pub for a drink, bet she's a right laugh, also she's hotter than a vindaloo in hell!

  • It's a Tiny Bradshaw number - not a 'Johnny Burnette', dear Imelda. But who gives a fuck, she's gorgeous and rocks : )

  • @bloozmonkey111 You are right Tiny Bradshaw did this song first, in 1951, but it's Johnny Burnette's version she is covering. All covers of this song have been based on Johnny Burnette's version, not Tiny Bradshaw's.

  • Just goes to show that the worst thing for music is the music industry. She was punting round cd's for years at gigs and no label wanted her so she did it herself ! Then Jools Holland noticed and the rest is history.Fuck big business, rock'n'roll forever!! Its our music from real people who care...love her....love the band....rock on Imelda!!!!!!!

  • @jollyzz yeah you're right but now she's on the top of the world and it's justice.

  • @jollyzz Jools Holland IS the music industry, just about the only man who counts nowadays. The 'Cowell's' of this planet can go to hell, we need more guys like Jools that can actually hear good music when it's available. B-)

  • @mcp666 Amen to that!!!!!

  • @mcp666 His... struggling to find the word... aura is shit.

  • @bskdopeboy He simply emanates musicality, no specific genre on his show, the only stipulation is that it's original, real good live music. Jools Holland is a catalyst that attracts and inspires quality music. B-)

  • Great version of this classic and I love her laugh at the end.

  • This is absolutely amazing, but Gaga has talent.

  • jusin bimbo and lady goo goo..please take note!..this is real talent....darrel and imelda and the gang have more talent in their little fingers than goo goo and bimbo combined ....rockabilly rules

  • tight as fcuk

  • ONCE ROCKABILLY,,,ALLWAYS ROCKABILLY.TOP GAL,,BIG UP TO DARREL,,,,

  • perfect

  • That's greaaaat! It's closer than other videos to the feeling you have when you see her live. True rockin' diva!

  • diggit XD

  • Rockin', totally rockin'

  • Amazing talent ...

  • Love hearing her sing this at a gig
