I hope your insurers don't cave in and that they stick up for you. i also hope his insurers drop his no claims bonus and increase his premiums. Maybe a hole in his wallet will make him think in future.
What is the status of the insurance claim? I was in a similar position coming in to a pinchpoint. I knew a van was behind me, and I heard him rev up to pass me in the pinch point. I put out my hand, which he hit with his wing mirror which broke. I wasn't aiming to break his mirror, I just wanted to get him to back off until it was safe to pass. I have no idea where the insurance, or the law, would come out on something like that. Sure, he 'broke' the highway code, but the HC isn't law...
Now I read the notes - seems fairly cut and dried. He had no place invading the bus lane while you were in it.
Sure it turns into a normal lane, but not then, and still no right to do what he did even if the incident had happened further down the road. He was attempting to cut you up and hit you with his mirror.
What an idiot, he was too close, obviously don't care about other road users and has the nerve to confront you? I hope his insurance premium goes through the roof plus a fine for encroaching the bus lane.
Sounds like the other cyclists stood up for you as well. Good for them. I'd love to see what happened next! It also looks like he was veering into the bus lane and collided with you. His luck out! Hope the bike is OK...
Well I've replayed that a dozen times and it looks to me like you smashed the dudes mirror off just because he was too close to you.. Remonstrate, wave you arm, call the bloke a cunt if you like but never lower yourself to criminal damage.
@Fuzz944 Considering the amount of drivers that just ignore shouts or blasts from an airzound, hitting the car is a good way of getting attention. Much better than the last loud sound one makes being a scream as you're crushed under their wheels.
They're in their own bubble, sometimes that bubble needs popping for safety.
@PeowPeowPeowLasers No, he just slapped the roof of the car with the palm of his hand.
Not enough to do any damage, but make a loud noise that would wake up the driver to an imminent collision.
I'm sure someone will say the cclist didn't look, however there are other bodily senses that will pick up danger.... such as the ears detecting the close proximity of the car.
@Cliffjumper24 You must be watching a different video, because while the car waited at the lights its mirror was intact. After the incident, it was not.
@Cliffjumper24 - It's a convertible, slapping the roof wouldn't make any noise at all. bbborp bent his mirror back, I'd recognise that sound anywhere ;-)
His fault. Fuck him

Once this is settled any chance of the full video? I'ld love to see the attempted arrest.

That driver was far far too close to you, and shouldn't have been in the bus lane. He is to blame, IMO.

nice move, I was surprised when I took my first mirror off, how easily they come away. Guess they are designed like that. Oh yeah what a twat!

Classic! Nice beeping after he hit you with the wing mirror. I'm sure you were well aware that he was there.
So what happened afterwards?
2rocship 2 months ago
Did you unintentionally collide, or did you actually break his mirror on purpose?
I do hope it's the former.

Aw - poor boy, all upset. Didn't get to barge into the bus lane with his BMW.
And he just doesn't get it - if he was close enough for you to touch his car, then HE was driving far too close. What an arrogant numpty!

Looks like a soon to be interesting confrentation, people here are too "precious" (to quote Golem) over their cars.

that driver is a right twat.

Looks like a classic case of changing lanes without looking. And he's trying to get on the bus lane a bit too early!
How come you've ended the video a bit early? We would be interested inw atching the full video.
