i did not know i might have it until i read the book A Mango Colored Space (sooo good!) and some people in the book expirienced what i am. i asked my mom and brother if they gave stuff personalities or saw things. they looked at me funny and said no. i genuinely thought everyone did what i did. guesd not
can anyone tell me if i have synethesia? okay so for me objects, numbers, letters, and words have personalities and when i here something colors paterns and amazing things start to appear around me. usually on walls.
could you tell me what sort of synesthesia i have? i think that numbers, alphabet, instruments, days, months, weeks, names and objects as colors, but i dont see them in the color that i think that they are! i took that sound test and i heard like breathing in my head. numbers are in genders and months are set out around me. lots of my friends have synesthesia with the numbers and names and objects as colours so its pretty awesome :) PLEASE tell me what sort of synestheisa i have! Great vid btw!!
@TheVampireDiaries211 Seems that you have color-grapheme and ordinal linguistic personification since you see colors with letters and associate them with personalities. I cant remember the other names but you seem to have many forms. Visit mixsig.net and you'll definitely know the rest.
Math is hard for me because I have grapheme-color synesthesia. -_- Letters are wonderful, but numbers suck. Letters have a white background and they're really vibrant and easy to see, but numbers are on a black background and harder to see, and since 4, 6, and 8 are such dark colors, I still don't know their factors, even after just graduating high school. Guess that's why I'm gonna major in English. XD
@thehappiestcamper Haha! I tried majoring in biology which involves a ton more math than I expected.. So now it's either film/communications or english for me, too. =P
i thought i may of had synesthesia until just a second ago when i asked my stepdad and my mum if they thought or got reminded of colours when they thought of numbers. Their answer: no
but it was hard to think of anyone else living without thinking of colours when they thought of numbers. I also think of personalites, emotions, days, months, numbers and the alphabet as many colours. double digit numbers are mixes of colours for me. If you would like to ask me a question of my synesthesia just
HI i have synathesia. I always have seen numbers/letters in color. First realized i had it when i was 14. Everyone always asked me about it after taht lol. FOr me 0=black 1=red 2=teal 3=green 4=silver 5=blue 6=purlple 7=orange 8=yellow 9=pink Im not going to even bother typing the letters one. But yea anyone else know what im talking about. But yea its really fun and interesting to look at things when im bored.
I see and hear genders/ages/personalites in everything. Literally, everything. Sometimes letters or numbers have a feeling of color. I also have a bit of sound/vision-touch syn.
The personification one can get a little overwhelming though, just because I see it in every single thing. Two things I hate because of it: Bullets (like on paper) and the number 8. Not the word, the number. God, obnoxious little things...
I'd learned a couple of days ago that my perception isn't normal.
I couldn't sleep and when I don't then I grab my phone and type random stuff in google. I've typed "letters in colors" (in polish ;D) and i was like "wow!" I'm 21 and I didn't know that "w" is tot blue to others. From the time that i'd learned that it's called synesthesia i've realised that there are some things that might be weird to someone.
Symbols and colors have their genders and personalities.
Colors can cause emotions.
Music can cause a sense of touch.
Sometimes it's not as cool as someone might imagine like when I see deep blue I feel pain and when I see green I hear whispers... weird as hell (but sometimes)
Also I have something that is called mirror- touch synesthesia.
thats my problem i always thought everyone was like this n i would talk ot them in their head n it wouldnt match they wouldnt collide n yea on the outside it was bad for me.. toook me until now to realize only certain people r like us
@winthorne that's really interesting! I've never thought about that before, but you're right. It would be awesome if we could find out for sure what's really going on with them. =]
I have visual-> sound. My new favorite internet hobby is checking out online kaleidoscopes and playing around so I can hear all the sounds the colors make.
@selenaroxursox1 Yes! Totally normal. That's the audio-visual sector of synesthesia. =] I think it would be so cool to actually see colors, but unfortunately I just "feel" them.
@selenaroxursox1 What other synnees say this or "normal" people? Color Synnees are very clear on what is and isn't the right color, but of course, that's how they see it. Non-synnees are just closed-minded and don't understand. ^_^
It's not "schizophrenia", but it isn't something everyone has either. I like to call it unique!! xD So like peneraserlove said, it's auditory --> color synesthesia. xD
i think i have the synesthesia where numbers and letters are represented by colors, i cant really describe it tho :/ for example 1 is red, 2 is blue, 3 is green etc
@FromRussiaWithLuv007 Yeah I also hear electric fields. At a young age I had an onset of super hearing so painful I was brought to the hospital, they had no clue what it was. Later I used to tell people I could hear lights and no one knew what I meant. At an even later event I took psilocybin and hearing increased to where I painfully sensed the feilds created by devices in my house and unplugged everything to no avail because wires are like the veins of modern homes.
The navigational senses of certain animals are interesting. We really dont know how they are percieving their sensory worlds, perhaps thats why animals seem to have a pre knowledge before events. Birds might sing because it makes colorful shapes. Also human echolocation can be fed in to the nervous system as a new sensory experience. Songlines of the native Australians is closely related too.
Satelite signals and cell phone towers ect are so bad. They seem to "roam" ironically enuff.
@peneraserlove damn. i want the musical note to color one, thats what john mayer has. is there anything for a really good memory? im good at dates and history.
@xoxo1234321 It's not really a development as much as it is just... natural? For me I didn't realize I was synesthetic until a few months ago [I'm 18 btw], but in hindsight, I can remember that learning my letters in preschool and learning how to read in kindergarten is really memorable for me because I specifically remember knowing them by their color.
yea you might have sound-motion synesthesia... thats what i think i have (i found out 2-3 days ago) my friend showed me a silent video and i hear fire crackling... and it was a slient video.. so both of us have synesthesia... and im doing tests to diagnose my situation.
hey girl, i recently found out theres a name for what i see when i hear music, tone-->color synesthesia. i always thought it was normal till i started telling friends & i always got the same look, as if i were crazy. im just so stoked to know there are more cats like me out there, & that im not on a perpetual trip!
No, it's not clear, at least for me. It's just like.. I feel like there should be sound, it's not usually loud, and I'm usually not 100% sure if other people can hear or not, or if it's just me; but I'll definitely have a gut feeling that -something- is making noise. That's what's meant by it
When I watched, I heard the snow on TV, only like it was inhaling and exhaling

I hear electric fields all the time.
like when I walk in my local library, the detector for stolen books, I can hear the electricity.
I wonder if that is a type of synesthesia. Pigeons have a magnetic sense. So y not combine it with hearing
