  • Even their practice amps sound good, unlike all other bass practice amps.

  • I quess he gave Peavey the kick up the backside ah !

I read a heap of bad reviews about that Peavey Tube amp he used to use before, i think it was a VB something or rather......well thats a beer in Oz.

  • I've just sold my Hartke 4x10 vx3500, and bought a Gallien Krueger MB212, I have all the tone knobs at 12 o'clock, sounds just like David's setup there. Can't believe after all the years of looking for a great tone, I just had to set the knobs straight up. Less is more!

Ellefson kicks ass, Megadeth kicks ass! /,,/

  • 1:05 ats a pretty nice christmas to it

  • Pretty muddy tone...

  • Absolutely love watchin Ellefson videos. Becomin one of my favourite bass players around

  • could som1 tell me the eq settings they are around min 2: 40 I dont understand all

  • @ganonuchia He said his tone is flat, all the knobs are set at 12 o'clock (straight up) though he said he had the bass down a tiny bit.

  • HYPE!!gimmik! bull shit! These cabs suck...and I am a fan of Ellefson.

  • 1:02 yes..Christmas...but warm Christmas

  • My bio teacher knows him :D

  • @kingcoilepolert

awesome! :D a current or a childhood friend? :P btw how did you find that out? :D

  • @hentajus he told me when i came in with a megadeth shirt on :P

  • @kingcoilepolert

    aaaawesome :D

  • @hentajus I kno :D

  • David Ellefson plays bass on my latest track Up In Flames. Check it out on my homepage johnnyworeblack. com

  • play on 5 watt , GIVE ME THAT .

  • I'd love to see ]v[egadet]-[ to do a tour of only Peace Sells and Killing is my business tunes.

  • Hartke,, the best bass amp!!!

  • @tr0bal Shut up. Like you've even played through 10% of the bass amps on the market.

  • @MajorImpact the two best bass players in the world (Victoor Wooten and Billy Sheehan) use hartke, so shut up you noob

  • @tr0bal Nice comeback. What amps were they using a year or two ago? Not Hartke. So I guess back then they were dumb and uninformed? Get a clue.

  • @MajorImpact must tested to decide, They have tested and now they chose the best

  • @tr0bal I guess you better buy one then so you can be just like them.

  • I've met him haha

  • play something! thats what tone is, you have to play something .!

  • I have the Hartke Hydrive 810 its pretty sweet. It does get a great, bright, punchy tone, especially at high volume :)

  • wow what a great demonstration - not -

  • You'd also need his signature jackson to get tone straight out of the box

  • EMGs may suck, but they are great for customizing, just need a pedal to make emgs really shine

  • is his basses with active pick ups?

  • @FuckTechno66 Yes, EMG's.

  • @Gabriopunk77 What is so special about EMG Active Pick ups? do they have more defenition than BC Rich Active pick ups ''p'' shape?

  • @FuckTechno66 EMG was the first major mass production active pickup brand. Personally, I think they suck. No bottom end, no mids, no nothing. I prefer Seymour Duncan & Basslines. Also, for bass, there are other great brands like Kent Armstrong and such. But I'm a guitarist.

  • @Gabriopunk77 ok, what would you advise me, Passive Pick ups or Active pick ups ?

  • @FuckTechno66 Active usually have more definition and more possibilities of equalizing. That if they come with active eq aswell, of course. But the definition is always better then passive. For guitar, I prefer passive pickups (I have three guitars and all have seymours), but for bass I prefer active. But stay the hell away from EMG's. Look for Basslines and Kent Armstrongs. I think the ones with pole pieces sound more organic then the "black plastic boxes".

  • @Gabriopunk77 Thank you very much for your advice, Cheers !

  • @FuckTechno66 Anytime!

  • no gain control?? okay....

  • @Kaloan91 No gain because there's no overdrive built in. It would be useless.

  • @Gabriopunk77 then the valve preamp is useless too

  • @Kaloan91 What? Of course no. You've never put a solid state and a valve amp side by side and tested them? The sound quality changes dramatically.

  • @Gabriopunk77 Maybe you are right but I can tell you that the only reason why it's got no gain is because those cabs couldn't handle it

  • fuck megadeth posers!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @nalgaface123456789 fuck megadeth, posers? or fuck the megadeth posers?

  • i dont remember writing this

  • ahahah Dave face at 2:42 : W...Wait !! What is that poor sound? XD

  • dave i love ya man, megadeth is my band but that doesn't sound like the tone i've heard you use lol... i know you're trying to help them sell amps but come on man :)

i am actually debating on getting this head and cabinet but i wish the head wasn't so simple personally... still several to look at... rock on man!!!

  • @ryevick Hey man... I run my LH1000 with an MXR 10 band EQ and get great sounds from it! try it... you might like it. It's still less money than many other heads in its range.

  • @RonnyOnBass hey man, I'm sure that is an awesome amp/cab he is advertising... I was just saying that that is not he's tone even though he says it is in this video lol... I've seen them live several times and have everything they've ever put out... he's saying that because they sponsor him and he helps them out too... which is fine... I just hate to seeing bands/people I respect get in the habit of being dishonest for money...

  • @ryevick Dude... you've got to remember one thing... he could be playing through the Hartke on stage, but after it goes to the FOH, it is out of his control as the sound engineer takes control and can actually change the sound at the board. So really, how do you know he is or is not playing through the Hartke?

  • @RonnyOnBass my point is he is saying in this video that nothing else is required to get his sound but plugging into this combo which is not true for his stage or studio performances.

  • @ryevick Well, if you know this for a fact, then maybe you should call SamsonTech and let them know as he may be violating his agreement with them.

I highly doubt he is running anything other than maybe a pedal or two, if even that.

  • @RonnyOnBass all you have to do is open your ears and listen. You really think Harkte gives a damn if he says their amp is soley responsible for his tone?!? Really?!? Alrighty then...

  • @ryevick OK.. NOW I think you're a complete MORON!! I am not responding to you any longer, idiot!

  • bass geeks lol, the dude is no less colorful than the old days. he's the best

  • E S P for life!

  • 1,000 watts? Volume on 2? ...Jesus....christ...

  • JACKSON RULES!!!

  • it's pretty cool that he likes a SIMPLE bass head

  • @godfatherNYC sometimes the simpler ones are the best ones ;)

  • LOL 1:04 'Adds a real nice christmas to it' haha

  • @ConorSomerz *crispness :P

  • @TheBlackwoolf Haha yes I knews that was what he really said but if yoiu listen to it just casually it sounds like christmas :L

  • @ConorSomerz He says crispness. -.-

  • @TheBlueBandYTAccount I know, everyone is joking about, hater be hatin!

  • everybody ! david awesome from megadeth!

  • Best fucking combp ever. Jackson and Hartke. I knew Ellefson played Hartke because you can't get that tone out of any other amp.

  • just how a bass should sound me (Zack vocals) is buying our Bassist a jackson cmg bass to try to get ellefson sound its just perfect too beautiful to describe just perfect i love it

  • He no longer endorses Peavey, only Jackson! :D

  • @gmanhell94 really? his zodiac is still in the website. i hate his peavey bass. the jackson is awesome

  • @sebsoriano19 maybe he still is under contract to sell the last of them, but once they are sold hell be free of peavy contract

  • @gmanhell94 thank god.

  • my setup is an Behringer Ultrabass with a Nuke head. shits was expensive. but its the greatest thing i own. and i got a fender bass, and the bass like paul from the beatles used lolol

  • I run my concert v through an acoustic. But jacksons don't sound bad with harkte's either

  • @hstrung420 hell yeah man! i played one a couple months ago in guitar center, it had a really epic green swirl and dual soapbar EMG pickups and they only wanted 300$ for it! im so pissed i only went there to get strings.

  • Is there any way to get that 5 string Jackson? Does any place sell it?

  • @RideTheRainbowTV jackson will release one !!!

  • @01020498 God I hope so! Did they actually say that!? Or is it a hunch? haha

  • @RideTheRainbowTV david himsef said it, they are goin' to release a 5 string and a 4 string but i think it's a limited edition but i´m not shure

  • I am so glad that David returned to Megadeth. For me it always was his powerful bass and the fact that you can clearly hear every nuance of it that gave the band its unique sound. In most other metal bands the bass guitar gets drowned in the mix. If I would be the bass player in one of these bands, this would frustrate the crap out of me.

  • jackson needs to make their basses more mainstream again, more models... Make a dave ellefson sig, a concert 5 string, etc. None of that gumby bubble-y headstock bullshit they've been releasing lately, we want our pointy headstocks.

  • @treetarded I think you got ur wish, they now have a david ellefson model and loads more of them too

  • @treetarded Dude, they've just made his sig available through the custom shop :D

  • @treetarded damn right dude! they need to bring back the kelly bass!

  • @treetarded they've made a David Ellefson signature but it's custom shop only atm but later this year or next year there making an import and David is helping designing all the new jackson basses :)

  • @treetarded

oh definatly...i miss those old PJ active jackson basses...they need to bring those back big time...badass bridges, EMG's, pointy headstocks

  • @treetarded they did make a sig concert bass for ellefson now, as you've prolly heard, but its custom shop only, which i think is retarded, he should have a regular bass signature line like everyone else, so they can play it in stores haha

  • @treetarded dude you're talking about the fender precision headstock, it came out a long time ago even before jackson started as a company

  • @assasinator1980 nah dude, I'm talking about the headstock like on the lamb of god signatures and such

  • @treetarded damn, i just googled...it's shocking to know that he uses jackson and yet his headstock isn't pointy looking lmfao

  • @treetarded you're wish on a ellefson sig is coming true :P

  • @treetarded i hear ya man

  • @treetarded pointy headstocks are fucking ugly.

  • @treetarded

    They exist now.

  • id do pretty much anything dave ellefson tells me to do

  • So he uses jackson instead of peavys now?

  • @gmanhell94 his rust in peace bass....used jacksons since the beginning. peavy is the bass that gave him a signature model

  • Amazing Bass Guitar !! Dave thanks for return Megadeth !! \m/

  • Dave You Rock!!!

    a question?

when you tapping in take no prisoners only move something? change any effect or just as I have?

excuse the errors using the translator to write ... not speak English .. not much! haha!

    megadeth ever Rules!!!

  • I don't see why he needs to turn his bass volume down...

    Max bassage, please

  • david's cool shit

  • the bass of RIP is fucking awesome

  • David, thanks for return to Megadeth..!!!!

  • Devils Island! Nice.
