I never heard of anybody not eating grits till I went to boot camp for the Marines and there were some guys from New York and they never even heard of them, I thought it was funny at the time cause I figured everybody ate them, everybody does eat them where I'm from in Georgia. Luckily they served grits for breakfast pretty much every morning at boot camp on Paris Island, South Carolina.

not surprisingly...grits is pretty much the easiest recipe in the world: cornmeal, water, and salt -- add butter and milk/cream if you want fancy grits

@Tutilost You are absolutely correct.  You chill your leftover grits in the fridge overnight. The next morning they are conveniently molded to whatever you put them in. Slice the chilled grits about 1/2" thick and pan fry them in your leftover bacon grease until golden brown.

The song is called "Gotta Have My Grits" and it was recorded in Columbia, SC. I'll have to dig a little to find the name of the composer.
