this is an amazing test, do you mind doing any future tests for recording high horsepower cars in tunnels? a lot of car guys love recording their cars and such but the audio recorded never sounds the same as in real life and im looking for a solution for those crappy build in mics on cameras

Bear in mind that the audio may not have been recorded live - it is an advert after all.

@Myleso I am the creator of all these video's and I can assure you it was all recorded live, on the spot.. It would be much more difficult to try and fudge something after the fact : )

Does it HAVE to be surround, or can you change the setting so it's stereo?

@MusicTewns this is in stereo. separate channels for right and left mics.. You can set it to mono mix if that's what you are talking about. That way you'll get one mixed down track as your file..

Hey i bought a H4n the other day and ordered a redhead yesterday. My question is about the camera acctually. You have the 5d mark 2 would you say the canon 7D is better ?

@Dittofication The 5D Mark II is full frame, the 7D is APS-C. Lenses on the 7D would be multiplied by 1.6 roughly. Plus you lose depth of field.

it can be sync directly by using the lineout/headphone jacks directly to 5dm2 line in, but it will record in mono..i think..

This kind of tutorial was exactly what i was looking for in this product. I was planning to do some recording at the beach but i had my doubts. But now i am convinced about this product. The only question i have is how far away can you be from the mic and you would still here your voice? Compared to a shotgun mic. Would it work like for 6 to 10 feet?
