you are all sooo right. These two living legends are as good as it gets. Is that the TV stations have to do to make lots of money is to simply put them on air. They are simply wonderful.
What I love, besides the impeccable musicality of these two pros, is the undeniable FUN they are having together!!! It is infectious and delightful. There isn't a thing on television now that gets even close to that feeling. Damn.
@BrownPlaid13 You're so right, and that is sooooo sad. We got so much of that infectious fun during the era of the great variety shows. Nothing like 'em today --
How I miss the days of Steve Lawrence and Carol Burnett and all the true performers of the 20th century. Why don't people write songs like this anymore?
@Picardy I miss 'em like nobody's business as well. And you know, I don't think it's about the songs as much as it is re. whom we have to sing them. Current pop singers occasionally dip into the rich database of American pop song, but not nearly enough:) --
@stevevandien Back then there was entertainment for everyone, for every age group. These days it's too youth focused, as though anyone over a certain age has been put out to pasture.Mature people have few choices of current music, so I guess that's why some performers like Rod Stewart, Bette Midler, etc. are singing the standards their parents played on records. Classics are timeless. Memo to Sony & Warners - give us more of a choice and stop ramming half baked half naked women down our throats.
@jook88 I consider myself very lucky to have been born in 1959, because I grew up with the Burnett show, as well as the "Hollywood Palace," "Kraft Music Hall" and all the other terrific variety programs that were televised in those days. Through them, I heard a huge variety of music, from classic American pop to opera and back again to pop-rock and rock. And I learned to appreciate it all:).
Beautiful! :) He was my favorite guest on her show! :)

I'm looking for the Tribute to Glenn Miller from The Carol Burnett Show season 9, also with Steve Lawrence. If anyone can upload it that'd be swell.

Two of my favorites! They are magnificent! And to think that today's junk is considered "art!"
