I love how EVERY car reviewer says 'Oh it looks the same as the old car'... well if something sells as well as the old one, your not exactly going to change a hell of a lot are you! Also, the mini has had countless 'new mini' updates.. yet manages to look EXACTLY the same, yet no one moans about that? The interior looks quite nice I think, they could of used a few more soft touch materials but other than that, its a lovely looking car!
If you don't like the exterior go see one in the showroom ,interior in 10x better than the old model any try looking for goodies like keyless entry ,keyless start, 4x electric windows and climate control! you won't find them on the old model! it also has the latest vvt euro 5 engine £30 tax in the uk with better economy and more power than the old 1.3! overall imo a much improved car.
What a crappy review. It doesnt mention that rear leg room has increased signifigantly over the old model thanks to a longer wheelbase. It looks quite different from the old one, ever heard of evolutionary design?? Plasticky interior? what do you expect from a 12,000 quid car? Leather?
Had a closer look today (but still no test drive) and one place where the Swift falls short of the Fiesta and other class rivals is the boot. Fiesta has about twice as much room for groceries and you might even be able to squeeze in a small pushchair which is a pretty big selling point for young families or anyone else who occationally needs to bring stuff with them. Although more funky I also think that the interior in the Ford is a bit higher quality as some details in the Swift feel cheaper.
I like it. In fact so much that I'm now leaning towards the Swift instead of a Ford Fiesta which until now was what I had in mind the next time I'm buying a new car. As far as I can tell the Swift takes the lead on price, fuel consumption and safety (since curtain airbags are not standard in all Fiestas) and I like the design a little better too. I suspect the Fiesta still offers slightly more refined handling but a test drive will tell.
wow to me it does look similar to the predecessor but not THAT much that u can bag it out for it? i feel sorry for u europeans only being able to get the 1.2L
Want refinement? Save up and get a car worth more than 12k. Swift is meant to be economical around town and being able to be fun on backroads. My cousin in India has one and I was pleasantly surprised.
hmm nice car for compact we dont have this in U.S. tho my friend just got a suzuki "???" it's like the suzuki civic? anyways its DOHC 5 speed kinda ugly ex, interior wasnt bad nice rear headroom and i loved my the GSXR 1000 not quite sure im sold on their cars tho
@5ANDEMAN And I prefer my S40. Anyway it's a big hit in Hungary due to it's low running costs and price. You'll find at least 3-4 of the predecessors in every street. This is the real Volkswagen in Hungary.
Personally, I think this is a great car for what it is. An inexpensive way to go from point A to point B. What it isn't, as you know from reading the ticker at the bottom, is a performance machine. If I drove in the city on a daily basis, I'd consider buying one.
@StalePhish You're right. I'm tired having good fuel economy, I want a freaking V8. I want to buy a Mustang. Unfortunately, the cheapest car with a good, powerful V8 that you can buy in Europe is Mercedes C63 AMG, which isn't exactly cheap, is it?
@sspope You can pick up a brand new V8 (like a Camaro or Mustang) for £ 20,000 over here. Or just go online and get something used for just a few thousand
The 5.0 Mustang GT is relatively cheap, makes great horsepower, and gets 17/26 (U.S. mpg). Those type of gas mileage numbers are usually in sporty V6 cars including BMW 3 series, Lexus IS350, Nissan 370z, etc but with the Mustang you get over 400 horsepower. Motortrend even recorded similar acceleration, grip, and track times as the BMW M3.
Or get the V6 version which also makes decent horsepower and gets great fuel mileage of 30mpg highway (some got even more).
@TheVtieg6 yes its always easy to buy a used faster car, but its the ridiculous insurance prices that plague the UK is what i'm talking about. They're madd!!

What do you expect from a hatchbacks in its interiors, it has to be plastic and not leather, name a similar hatch without plastic interiors ?

Yeah a Bentley at the cost of a Suzuki, or a Suzuki that cost as much as a Bentley.
It is supposed to be plastic, and cheap feeling, because it is cheap.
Thank you for the video.

its OBVIOUS that interior will be plasticy, its a Suzuki, not a Bentley

£12,000? I thought they were supposed to b cheap!
for that price you could get a fiesta zetec. better interior, handling and refinement, and a decent boot for the size. with the same (or better) mpg.
Where's the appeal?

who the hell would drive a little pussy 1.2 litre.......cause barely anyone in the UK can afford the insurance on anything more than that
daizmiester 1 year ago
@daizmiester
Well you dont buy a 1.2 for performance
You buy it it for low running cost
TheVtieg6 1 year ago 2
@TheVtieg6 and some buy it as a last resort because they can't afford what they would 'really' want to buy
daizmiester 1 year ago
@daizmiester
Well there are cheaper cars out there and even if they wanted more performance they can always buy a used faster car

@TheVtieg6 I feel bad for you Europeans sometimes. I live in America and you can get a much more stylish 2.0L+ car brand new for under 10,000 £
StalePhish 1 year ago
@StalePhish
Example please. Also bear in mind gasoline is often more than TWICE as expensive for the same amount.
You can cruise at an easy 90mph all day long on the German autobahn with 1,9 litre turbodiesels, and using next to no fuel and very low emissions.
