@Erniethecatisawesom Trolls go through videos looking for ones with no dislikes, and dislike them. They like to see their work cause an uproar among the YT community.

And think about it; in how many videos do you see "X people missed the like button?" If that's no making their work successful, I don't know what is.

Personally, I prefer them disliking videos. Better than starting flame wars in the comments. Either way, ignoring the issue is the best way to make it go away.

SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE:

I love the double meaning of this song in the movie. The rich family who have just come back to Japan after the war play this song, and for them it's a happy song about being where they belong. But when we get the montage of Setsuko's life after she's dead, it shows us that she is really "home" now, in a btter place with no suffering. it works brilliantly. Such a sad, but great movie :)

I can understand that "Grave of Fireflies" is a heart core devastating sad story. But it also reflects a very sad truth; THIS happened and still happens all over the world. And it's our own responsibility to look at it and make a difference on the decisions that we make, the actions that make a difference; for real. And it can be as small as being actually nice to someone that makes a BIG change. Be honest and truthful, the world can be helped even by a little action if we take responsibility.

When this phonograph section is playing accompanying the montage of Setsuko playing around the shelter, it is incredibly moving. But when the scene abruptly cuts to the hillside, and that bloody AWFUL string section tears into the scene followed by the panpipes. It's was almost too much to bear, seeing him look at his sister one last time with that blank hopeless face. I've never been moved by a single scene like that. Only Schindler's List comes close for me.

This movie kills any worries we might have for personal issues, but replaces them with a realization that world really sucks. Sad but so painfully true. What world is that where such things happen billions of times for years and we just keep on living as if nothing happnes? :-(

I've seen a little over 100 anime titles (started watching anime in 2002), and Grave of the Fireflies is easily the best. While I don't cry like a baby when I hear this song (or when watching the movie itself), it definitely makes me shed tears because it's so beautiful and was used so perfectly in this film.

I think those who don't cry to this film at some point are heartless as this is so sad and beautiful. And it's based on a semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by someone who's sister died of malnutrtion, like Setsuko in the film. The author blamed himself for it and wrote the book as a tribute to her.

By the way, the movie was released as a DVD in 2006 in Europe (with original Japanese voices) as a part of the "Studio Ghibli Collection" by Optimum Releasing. If you live in Romania, look for it at the Carturesti library store. I've bought it as a gift for a friend, but 5 minutes later I decided to keep it for myself. I've kept the DVD sealed, like a precious and delicate thing. I'm so glad to have it.

And I'm proud it, for these are tears of compasion, understanding and love.
