One way I prepared for peak oil was converting my home to a net-zero solar powered home that uses no oil or gas..I made a video about it called, "Preparing for Peak Oil"....
Hard not to be depressed when there is so much suffering going on in this country, and we have complete buffoon setting in the White House. He really believes he can throw a few crumbs at the American people and they are going to run out and spend it; he has no concept of what is going on. I bet if they started impeachment hearings, the economy would surge! I know my mood would improve. (smile) Great video; thank you for sharing it with me. (smile)
this ethanol thing is getting me really super fucking T.O.'ed - not only is it just plain stupid, since it takes more energy just to make it than it even yields - but it's actually mustache-twirling evil, since the amount of grain it takes to fill a gasshole's tank just once could feed a human being for an entire year - but i guess those 15 million children a year who starve to death don't really matter - thank you for bashing these phoney-green yuppie poop-noggins!
The masses have no idea what is around the corner. They just watch their football games and guzzle their beer, while things get worse and worse. Most people don't know how to hunt or grow their own food anymore. The sad thing is, we should have KNOWN this day was coming. Oil was never an infinite resource, and we should have realised that since day one! The 70's should have been the wakeup call. But knowing the way we are, we'll wait till the last fuckin second to do anything about it. To late.
(WTF) George W woke me up; about the only thing I can thank that jerk for. I stopped spending four years ago, and paid off and cancelled all my gas cards; I will not support an economy that condones torture. I have an Apothecary in my kitchen, and even make my own soap. I don't trust the medical community anymore, because they allow people to die when they don't have insurance; so I refuse to ever go to another doctor and allow them to bill my insurance. I am awake. (smile)
Wiskawind: "I don't trust the medical community anymore, because they allow people to die when they don't have insurance; so I refuse to ever go to another doctor and allow them to bill my insurance."
I'll take it you've seen "Sicko" right? I watched it just this past weekend in fact. Very eye opening; it's something that everyone needs to watch.
(WTF) I have watched Sicko, but I have also found out about experiments OUR American medical community has carried out on us, American citizens! They are evil MFers, and I would trust my friggen horse vet before I will ever trust a doctor again. If I could cancel my insurance, I would, but it is through my husbands work, and he still trusts doctors. I'll take my chances with the Grimm Reaper, and those pricks can kiss my ass! (smile)
(1932-1972) The U.S. Public Health Service in Tuskegee, Ala. diagnoses 400 poor, black sharecroppers with syphilis but never tells them of their illness nor treats them; instead researchers use the men as human guinea pigs to follow the symptoms and progression of the disease. They all eventually die from syphilis and their families are never told that they could have been treated (Goliszek, University of Virginia Health System Health Sciences Library).
sorry...i was just shown something that totally changed my opinion...please disregard that last comment...i'm now on board with the idea of man accelerated climate change
we do need to be investing in alternative energy sources...now i don't know the numbers but i do have a hunch that if we were to spend half as much money as we have trying to maintain oil and coal as our main sources of energy on equipping houses and businesses with solar power we would be a lot better off
seriously...man made climate change?? go read the studies...man doesn't create climate change...the sun does...animal feces and volcanoes create more green house gases than humans do...climate change is a natural thing...now i do believe that we are fucking up the environment but we cannot be so presumptuous to think that we create climate change...i will not feel bad for climate change...but we do fuck up the water and we do fuck up the earth...but we are not responsible for ice caps melting...
I'd like to see how you explain that mocking bush for participating in a ceremony purely on the basis that it was "weird" (ie. foreign) is not racist.
It's (not really) funny. We all thought peak oil was sometime 15 or so years in the future. Now I hear everybody saying it was 2 years in the past. We've gotta start making some changes.
Your question doesn't make any sense, and I've been thinking about it and staring back at it for about five minutes. And that's just trying to figure out what the fuck you're even asking.
By OURSELVES, that's "whom".
Although if you are in fact someone who doesn't drive, good for you.
Just because modern western society collapses doesn't mean the whole human race will become extinct. It might come as a surprise, but not everyone is as neurotically attached to all the one-dimensional abstractions and useless conventions of our modern industrial society. There are more simple, and quite fulfilling ways to live if one wishes to be an autonomous being and not an automation.
I imagine a "new" indigenous people living in a balanced relationship with the natural environment, who from time to time wander and collect artifacts in the vast and vacant metropolis of times past.
yes of course there are many native cultures now who do not live in industrial civilization. the conversation was about extinction, though, not collapse. i don't want to see the former, but i'm all for the latter. autonomy with community, i take it you mean...no one can go it alone...that's one of the myths that keeps it all in place
Delight!! Fantastic sedition. What a scary week it's been for the global economists, eh? - What was that track after the rice story? Sounded like Public Enemy.

What were you shown? Given there has been almost no reliable science that goes against industrially enhanced climate change, how did it take so long?

Unfortunately, I think Bush might have
cheated Republican death again. Market
go up 2 days in row. All he has to do is
falsify the numbers to make it look like
we are not in a recession and keep things
quiet in Iraq and they just might win
by fixing a bunch of voting machines in
key states. Think it couldn't happen?
