  • Now you french guys tell us your secret so we can play like you!

  • wtf- that's mental...

  • holy shit i wanna play to crowd like that, tiny club gigs cant compare to the energy of playing to a crowd like that!

  • Great!

  • Amazing...! Such a fantastic way of transforming a simple and nice sounding tune to divine music. Great work on superimposing Sylvain and Bireli. Fantastic drum solo too!!!

  • Bireli is not a shredder! He is a musician. That´s a BIG difference.

  • THIS IS INSANE. Bireli is a true shredder mann. On a random note, Merry Christmas everyone(:

  • Jazz is the best music in the world.

  • I love the Guitar and all the cats who play it like madmen!!

  • Playing of the highest caliber. To sustain interest at that tempo, you need to be master players. These are!

  • Come suonano cribbio...

  • These guys shred (forgive me for using this term) just as well, if not better, than some of the top rated so called shredders, who just play through boring arpeggios, pentatonics, and harmonic minor modes. Brilliant.

  • @aldertguitarist1 It is true that these guys shred better than anyone. I will say this, no average music consumer has any idea what the hell a Harmonic Minor scale is, yet alone a Melodic or Hungarian Minor scale is when they hear it. In the MAINSTREAM, It isn't about notes or scales. Even when those 50s jazzers reinvented a new bebop scale, nobody cared and it was heavily criticized. Music is dead in the mainstream. Hendrix is just a fond memory now. I know, it sucks.

  • Two of the best guitar solos (particularly Sylvain, but that's just me), and the unmistakeable Ceccarelli touch, and a bass player who is no slouch either... What's not to like?

  • i once heard improvising is like painting a picture,

in that case luc made a film in blue ray

  • @atanaciotonyhernande :D:D:D:D:D:D:D yes :D:D:D:D you have a good sense of humor but what you say is true

  • I am bewildered & frustrated how artist like these do not get the appreciation.

BUT Clapton, D. Allmon, BB King, Keith Richards do. They are all rated in top 10 by Rolling Stone. WHAT? I see other top guitarist poles with Kurt Cobain, Jimmy Page etc. (Maybe I am the idiot). Some one PLEASE explain it to me.

  • @markatier i dont know how the fuck does cobain get raited as a 10-star guitar player..

And there are many who think this is blasphemy, buy Jimmy Page is not the god of guitar many people proclaim him to be. People like him and Van Halen were good, yeah, but there are many guitar players that surpass them.

    they were just popular!

Keith Richards? ha! dont make me laugh... another highly overrated guitar player.

You are completely right, guys like these two are the kings of guitar.

  • @idontbelieveok yes they are and that's why i uploaded this video to youtube

  • @idontbelieveok I believe music isn't all about technique. It's not a 100m run. Of course, opinions may vary, some people like to hear virtuoso music, but a lot - I'd say: most - doesn't give a fuck if a guitarist can surpass devil in speed. Music is about feeling the power inside, taking pleasure of of it. And that's why lots of people call Jimmy Page, Angus Young or even Kurt Cobain a guitar god

  • @ziomoloslaw that's only what people who cant play any instrument proficiently want to believe ;)

kurt cobain is far from being a music god, PLEASE.

And music taste varies, yes, so we cant measure music by "feeling" or any of that subjective crap you bring up like "the power inside".

the only possible way of measuring a musician next to the other is in terms of his /her technique and variety.

  • @idontbelieveok there is NO way to measure a value of a musucian. You can only either say: I enjoy this music or: I do not. If you believe you can say that Yngwie Malmsteen is BETTER than Jimi Hendrix just because of his technique, it only equals that you are narrow-minded. Neither one is better, and the title of "guitar god" (which, by the way, I don't support) doesn't depend on the player. It depends on the listener

  • @ziomoloslaw yes it does, you are right, which brings me to waht i want to say, you cant criticize those musicians who focus on improving their technique just cause they do.

  • @idontbelieveok I don't criticize. Actually, I really enjoy Lagrene's or Luc's playing

  • @markatier I agree wholeheartedly. The problem is, music is driven by marketing, and marketing knows nothing about anything. That is true about everything: computer science as well as music.

As a consequence, we have a world dominated by Windows, the iPhone and Britney Spears... If excellence had its word, that would be Linux, the Nokia N900 and these four guys, here. Bah. Those who know, know.

  • I once had the sublime pleasure of watching Sylvan Luc playing one morning in the lobby of a hotel. We just sat round him for about an hour and he chatted and played. He played alot of Brazilian stuff with unusual tunings and then the most stunning version of Giant Steps in which he, in one of his unusual tunings, just went round and round the melody each time developing his voicings. He has the ability to create music as beautiful as it is impressive. Spectacular musician.

  • luc's tone is incredible

    a melodic genuis

  • i wish luc would play a guitar with a smoother sound....thats why i enjoy bireli more.

  • Yeah that guitar has garbage tone.

  • @zachrhea3 ugh yeah you're right. when he plays with collignon it sounds fucking amazing though

  • you know luc's tone isn't supposed to be jazz, it has nylon strings when bireli has got metal strings

  • The Godin sound....I am beginning to like it on some tunes....distinctive.....but this tune i like with a true jazz guitar sound...

  • this makes me want to quit playing or practice more depending on my mood. These guys can't be beat!

  • does anyone else notice that even when bireli is soloing luc is still leading the band?

    this dude is totally breathtaking!

  • my god, ever note lucs plays is breathtaking!

  • Dude, you're not the only one that notices, this Luc of a guy is actually 'wicked' in the truest sense of the word. If i'm allowed to use the word perfect for his plays, i'd say he was. It just leaves me wondering when people say stuff life Cobain, or Hendrix or Clapton is god.

  • I don't think anyone is god, sir, it takes more than one lifetime to achieve that kind of status. But in the sense of the word, yes, i do think he's amazing for playing a thousand notes (and chords), and i don't think your analogy applies accurately here... simply because i do not think the people I mentioned are capable or everything these guys can do.

  • @renaudmaret lol.

  • Awesome!!

  • super jazz solo B.Lagrene&S.Luc...

  • FWIW, this is an extract of a video called "André Ceccarelli and friends", and you can watch this video in its entirety on Google Video. Among André's friends are the pianist Baptiste Trotignon and the saxophone player David Elmalek, which are worth a look (an ear) as well ;)

  • this is great music man..tou are a fake person may be

  • wow!

  • I might add the bassist is pretty awesome too!

  • @OlfArts Yes he is a beast on his own!

  • that drummer is bad ass

  • HOLY SHIT THE CHORDS AT 200!!!

  • How about the amazing drummer, the way he interprets time and his increadible chops make it look like anyone can do it..

  • oh my god, i've just watched him a few hours ago, and it was AWESOME. He has an special style and technique, his instantaneous composition style is unique, he's really a god.

  • Is there a DVD of this concert?

  • Bireli and Sylvain's styles are very complementary; Bireli has that gorgeous clarity and tone for leads, and Sylvain just has the most ridiculous chordal ideas of any guitarist I've ever seen. Two thumbs up!

  • four more thumbs up, mine too!

they're both really great, I saw Sylvain with his trio, a few months ago, and the man is just great, check out his fluid legato single notes, his phrasing is his own, and he's a perfectionist, you don't hear a noise unless he wants you to...

and he's so humble and a such great guy!

Yeah his voicings are absolutly unique, and so inovative.

of course Biréli is a virtuoso, he can play whatever he wants! they're so good both !!!

  • SYLVAIN!

  • sylvain!

  • 2 greatest guitarists of all time

  • very good players

  • Effing fantastic, was this on TV? Or is it for sale?

  • it was on TV (mezzo)

  • putain c bon !

  • Exelente!! Aguante el jazz y Argentina!!

  • What video is this from? I assume it's the same one where Bireli does "Pression" right?

  • Yeah, and Stella.

  • and the starlight.

  • bien ! django and coltrane trainent ils leurs guetres en quelque endroit ?...

  • Greatest technique and musical taste like always fabulous both!

  • would you repeat your comment in english ? i'm not french...

  • "No one voting?

    Admittedly, it leaves you aghast...

It's a meeting at the summit, probably some summit unreachable for 'tourists', if you see what I mean... As far as I'm concerned, this is splendid"

  • personne ne vote?

Il est vrai que ca laisse sans voix...

C'est une recontre au sommet, un sommet peut etre un peu inacessible pour les touristes, si vous saisissez l' image... pour ma part, c'est splendide.

  • nagyon jó :))
