I've seen this guy live and let me tell you he is absolute class! I've seen a lot of live music and I would easily put him in the top 5. Great voice and seems a genuinely nice person.
I was always shocked that this guy never went on to form a career, he clearly had the talent but perhaps never got the chances after xfactor...he was never going to win in that year, Leona Lewis was almost too good and the to be honest the song the finalists did 'A Moment Like This' would never of suited Ben's voice.
He's still about, and does have a career in music, in terms of it being the way he earns a living now, he's just not as 'massive' as he could have been had the management company and record label done right by him.
now that i think of it he was the only contestant who was anywhere near the same standards as Leona was. it was an upset how he got eliminated in the Semi Finals.

I went to see Ben a few months ago in an acoustic gig in Helmsley.... just him a guitar a piano and his voice, You could see how much he loved performing. He got excited with the piano they had for him to play and stayed for about 5 extra songs. Awsome singer!
It is lovely when Ben plays at small, intimate venues. My favourite is the Music Room at Pizza Express in Maidstone, but if he makes a return to Helmsley I'll go again, even though it's the opposite end of the country for me!!!
His voice is completely different to freddie... ben is very gravely, where as freddie is very oure, but i think this is the greatest performance ever done on xfactor, he really should have won.

her voice is not unique, it is an avergae voice that is being forced. any credible professional vocal coach would chastise me if i did what she does when singing. when u've had singing lessons, u pick up a few things about what is technically good singing and what isn't. a while back, John Barrowman noted the hazardous nature of her technique in an interview and this week the vocal coach rightly told her to tone it down. the result? it shows the world how 'special' her voice rlly is.
Ruth - i don't know many female singers who can succesfully pull off her ability to perform rock music. women have always been commonplace in pop, jazz and other genres, but in rock, men have always dominated. her combination of projection ability, lung capacity, tonal quality and passion when singing gave her a clear edge over the competition.
i will, however, agree on Eoghan. if that hobbit wins, i might start an angry protest rally at ITV headquarters...
and if it's the 'style' to seemingly not bother about presentable neatness whatsoever, then i won't bother tidying myself up when i wake up in the morning...cos that's what Diana looks like she's done to me...

OMG I didn't know thia guy cause I rarely watch this show. I was looking for videos from X-Factor with Paula Abdul, and happily found this one. Hey Ben, u conquered my heart... Felt so sorry for Ben. He was deliberately down played as they (Simon) had their chosen winner in the series - Leona. Not knocking her talent but what a travesty for him to manipulate press/judges comments to get him out prior to final. Simon know Leona had it in bag as soon as she was up against karaoke kid - Ray.
He would have won series 4 without a doubt.

come to think of it, his voice does have a certain 'African-American preacher leading church Gospel choir' element to it. not to sound racist, but haven't heard a popular white musician sing with that amount of 'soul' since somebody like Billy Joel.

I went to see Ben a few months ago in an acoustic gig in Helmsley.... just him a guitar a piano and his voice, You could see how much he loved performing. He got excited with the piano they had for him to play and stayed for about 5 extra songs. Awsome singer!

It is lovely when Ben plays at small, intimate venues. My favourite is the Music Room at Pizza Express in Maidstone, but if he makes a return to Helmsley I'll go again, even though it's the opposite end of the country for me!!!

Diana? what, that psuedo-hippy banshee who doesn't look like she's seen a hairbrush in her life? she doesn't even seem to know how to sing properly - that bizzare inflection she puts into her voice is not only unpleasant to my ears, but it will probably destroy her vocal cords if she keeps doing it...
from all the contestants this year, i'd say Ruth was the best. Purple Rain, Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Always - she was genuinely unique amongst the contestants and was a vocal powerhouse.

Ruth was good but her voice wasn't unique so i wonder if she'd be any good on record. I feel th same way bout eoghan. He shouldnt win.

her voice is not unique, it is an avergae voice that is being forced. any credible professional vocal coach would chastise me if i did what she does when singing. when u've had singing lessons, u pick up a few things about what is technically good singing and what isn't. a while back, John Barrowman noted the hazardous nature of her technique in an interview and this week the vocal coach rightly told her to tone it down. the result? it shows the world how 'special' her voice rlly is.

Ruth - i don't know many female singers who can succesfully pull off her ability to perform rock music. women have always been commonplace in pop, jazz and other genres, but in rock, men have always dominated. her combination of projection ability, lung capacity, tonal quality and passion when singing gave her a clear edge over the competition.
i will, however, agree on Eoghan. if that hobbit wins, i might start an angry protest rally at ITV headquarters...
